The hospital system my wife works for announced a vaccine requirement of its workers a few weeks ago and it caused a firestorm. Her email box is full of women that report to her panicking that the vaccine is going to sterilize them.
There is a lot of misinformation that has been tragically effective.
It is both frightening and staggering how wildly undereducated about this the nursing community is with some hospitals reporting dozens of nurses refusing the Vaccine. It really shakes my already minimal trust in American medicine. It feel like the min bar should be some where north of "understands basic statistics and keeps abreast of the drugs they administer"
She manages administrative and other non-medical personnel but you're not wrong. The nurses aren't happy about it either. To be fair, it's a lot to tell someone they have to quit if they don't get a vaccine that has yet to be fully FDA approved but the more visceral reactions are definitely rooted in conspiracy theory nonsense.
what I don't get is how there is no benefit to spreading misinformation about the vaccine causing sterilization. how does that make a person's life better? it doesn't.

1. Trolling gets people off.
2. By telling people sweet, sweet lies that they are eager to believe and positioning yourself as the truthsayer of said lies, then you succeed at isolating people from those who would warn them of you, and make them more vulnerable to your other lies.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Telling people that they're smarter than everyone else because they realize you're speaking the truth and the official story is bullshit has always been an extraordinarily effective technique.
People love to be told they're smart.

He puts ketchup on steak , probably eats it well done . He is the enemy of all mankind. Now Brady can be a jerk but he plays for my team now so he is beyond reproach.
It’s very easy to dislike Pat if he’s in your division, doubly so since he’s on the chiefs. He seems decent as a person, though.
He's passed me a couple of times this year on the freeway on my way into work. While I couldn't see his mop, there aren't too many silver Ferrari 812s on the local roads round here.

I guess he either doesn't realize some people have compromised immune systems that keep them from getting vaccines or he just doesn't give a shit about them.
(Got a pretty good feeling as to which option the answer is though)
Those are fine questions to ask, they have pretty easy answers. The real deal is how he responds to the answers.
1) A low chance of something happening, happening to you, does not then make it likely something else with a low probability will happen to you
1b) The vaccine makes a recurrence of covid less severe
1c) Why does it even matter if there is a low chance of getting it again? Why does that make it more worthwhile to not get it? This doesn't really make sense to me.
2) This is essentially correct as far as we know. You are not a danger to people who have been vaccinated. You are, however, a danger to those around you who have not been vaccinated, who cannot be vaccinated.
2b) Also, as long as there is a significant portion of the population that is vulnerable to Covid, it will continue passing through them, and possibly mutate to a variant
that is resistant to the vaccine. That would be very very bad, and would obviously be dangerous to everyone.
Great, asked and answered, hope this clears everything up. Armed with this knowledge I'm sure you'll make your way to the closest vaccination station.

I'm sure he didn't know when he made those tweets, and I'm also sure that once he finds out (if he hasn't already) he 100% will not care and will make up some new excuse for not getting it

Why are y'all posting that jerk's selfish reprehensible thoughts in here?

I mean this is the NFL thread, he's a notable member of the NFL, he has reach/influence within the fan community, covid is a major issue for the upcoming season, and his views reflect a larger trend within the league (and society in general). The tweets seem pretty relevant and worth discussing, as reprehensible as they are.

To expand upon this, as a 2000s era Panthers fan I hated playing Michael Vick's Falcons and the way he'd pull a win out of his ass no matter what Carolina did. But we played in a Super Bowl and they didn't, so who cares? I fucking loathed Tom Brady's Patriots before that Super Bowl was even played - he'd already won one and Bill Simmons shit talked my team. The fact that the Panthers lost just cemented my hate well before Spygate
Even as a Giants fan though I could never hate Romo.
Romo never won anything
Yeah Romo literally never took a game from us that mattered in the long run.
Like I dislike Brady and Bellichek for who they are as people but as part of the NFL we beat them twice and Bellichek actually helped us win a couple of titles so who cares.

I mean, if I was an nfl coach and I had a player risking missing games because of a covid quarantine I would break my foot off in his ass
There are very few NFL coaches who don’t agree with him though and I don’t see even Andy or Arians or Stefanski unofficially disciplining a dude over it (I’m assuming these are 3 of the least chuddy coaches)

But Andy and the Chiefs captains have proven capable of bringing skeptical players around to the fact science works, the vaccines are a net social good, and if nothing else it will be majorly important for game prep and team activies.

He's got us to 3 AFC championship games, 2 Super Bowls, and 1 ring and been a great community ambassador, I'd be less broken up about him leaving due to business than when Tony G left us "for the shot at a winner", and won only 1 playoff game in ATL in his twilight years.

Cause I am capable of caring for more than just my own self. I don't want you to get it, and I don't want you to give it to other people.
It's just so fucking selfish.
