My school’s shitty money pit of a football team has us $120 million in the red with no real chance to dig out of the hole.
At this point I think if they are married to the idea of keeping an athletics program at all, we should seriously consider pulling out of the PAC and moving down to the Big Sky.

Honestly you can blame Scott for that as much as the school. Keeping the Pac 12 network off of potential broadcasters lists instead of doing everything he could to get it picked up everywhere for $ was a major losing move financially.
I should have plugged this over here last week. Oops. But the EDSBS Charity Bowl was last week. They raised $829,610 for refugee resettlement in Georgia.

Wow.

Texas, Oklahoma reach out to SEC about joining conference

Ha ha what.

I've considered it and my immediate reaction is fine, ok. I think OK would do pretty well and I think Texas would...not but with Sarkesian at head coach they actually might.
Texas wouldn't be able to bend the SEC over like they've done with the 12. So I think it'd be hilarious if they made the move and then hated it and whined about it.
Seems like another round of "let's make 16 team power conference" nonsense.

I don't see texas joining the SEC because I don't see them giving up the longhorn network.
I think they are just making waves to get more money.

The natural move for Texas and Oklahoma, if they absolutely had to move, has always realistically been the PAC-12, especially in its current state where it would easily relent and acquiesce to any demand those two schools make.

Maybe Sark was getting lonely and he wants to join all the other ex-Saban-assistant Head Coaches in the SEC.

If this isn't just a bunch of bullshit, Texas surely wouldn't get to keep their precious Longhorn Network would they?
There is a certain amount of trolly comedy to Texas following A&M and Mizzou to the SEC after being the primary reason they left the 12 in the first place.

yeah I had forgotten the network aspect of this, I'm pretty much in "believe it when I see it" mode.
I'd actually be surprised if Kansas didn't end up in the BIG if the big 12 folds. Yeah, football is king and Kansas is garbage at it, but there's enough basketball history and academics to get interest from one of the remaining conferences. Still not sure I believe the ou and tu to SEC thing though.
When do the playoffs expand this could result in some amazing schadenfreude hijinx

So I'm guessing the endgame to all of this is for the SEC, assuming Texas and Oklahoma goes to the SEC West and one existing team realigns to the East (say, Arkansas) and we go to an expanded CFP, the second-place team in the West out of the sheer talent level in that division could wild card themselves into the Playoffs with a 10-2 overall record, giving the SEC potentially three teams (conference champ, runner-up, 2nd place West) out of whatever the expanded number of spots is.
Meanwhile, on the Runaway Speculation Express train, the Big 12 revitalizes itself by snagging Nebraska away from the B1G (maybe Iowa, too?), SMU from the AAC, brings on New Mexico State from the independents list, there's your proper 12 teams. Texas sells off the Longhorn Network and it gets rebranded as the new Big XII Sports Network.

yeah, in the short term it could be particularly painful to the sec, at least i would imagine. But if it expands to a 12 team playoff it could lead to the sec taking a bulk of spots? i don't know.

No one actually cares about the LHN, the $15 million annual amount we get from it would get dwarfed by SEC payouts

Solich-one 7-7 season but otherwise 9 wins or better...fired
Callahan-two winning seasons book ended by 5 win years...fired
Pelini-never won less than 9 games but behaved like a psychotic toddler and dared the AD to fire him...fired
Riley-one 9 win season sandwiched by two shit years...fired
Frost-3 straight losing seasons
My level of apathy is high
I don't even watch all the games anymore. That would've been unthinkable to me even like 5 years ago

As an added bonus, we've paid over $24 million in severance to those football coaches since 2005.

Fuck. Him.
Hopefully the school boots his ass and he faces jail time for this.
