Haechi also has started occasionally favouring one leg or another. I figure it's the start of some joint pains. I'm feeding him some Four Leaf Rover Green Eggs powder because it can't hurt (it's got a bunch of anti-inflammatories and stuff) but I mean... he's 11 so I'm trying to be realistic about how things will be trending.

Believe it or not, my pupper there is 15! He’s doing remarkably well for his age. Nobody believes he’s as old as he is when the see him. He sleeps more and he’s more grumpy and he has some trouble with stairs but he also still loves to play and run and is pretty spry and perky a lot of the time.
Ani is turning 14 in a month and has basically held out in his Old Man phase three years longer than any of us expected him to
He has lupus, had a few white blood cell crashes that we managed to rescue him from with sheer grit and excellent veterinary support, his teeth are in bad shape, and he now has so little muscle in his hips he needs help on stairs and drifts in the breeze like a sail
But he's eating, drinking, doing his business, and still very happy, so we take it one day at a time (and again, one day at a time has become 3 years) and do our best to keep his quality of life up
It's a bummer knowing what he was like in his prime but he's happy, and having Ivy around to pup it up/play with our GSD Ellie has helped a lot with the Old Dog Vibes
Speaking of training, my friends puppy (aka bubble puppy aka juniper aka an increasingly huge ridgeback goober) has done all her puppy training over zoom.
With the local areas lifting restrictions this month, she had her final class + graduation in person!
... She was so excited, she flunked. Failed every challenge, just ran around in circles sniffing butts and jumping on the other dogs heads for an hour.
Hard to pick favourites just yet but there's a corgi named Gimli and he is perfect
Also a very cute husky/lab mix who was a little anxious about mask wearing and had the most balefully anxious look when I'd lock eyes with him. At one point during the sit exercises he tried to lean back directly behind his owner, like a cartoon character trying to hide behind a tree or a lamppost conveniently shaped just like them, in the hopes I wouldn't see him
(I just tried to stare past him and watch the exercise out of the corner of my eye)

Corgis do share a lot of traits with dwarves. Squat, Stable, stubborn and can hold a grudge forever.

Kubo hurt his leg playing fetch with my wife this morning, apparently he slipped and then got up in a weird way and appears to have torqued one of his front legs. He's done this once before and this time doesn't seem as severe (he's pretty gangly, his legs are absurdly long, and I think until he finishes putting on muscle he's just a little delicate with his high center of gravity).
We called the vet and she just said to limit his mobility for two weeks and if he doesn't improve in the next few days or gets noticeably worse (or won't drink, eat, etc), take him to the emergency vet to get checked out, but apparently there's no OTC human meds that work for dog pain and she said she wasn't comfortable prescribing anything without actually examining him (and there are no gaps in her schedule for weeks so we'd have to go to the emergency vet).
Poor guy. Granted, he's by far the wimpiest dog (doubly funny because he's the largest dog), but still really hurts my heart to see him in pain and sad. I wish there was something I could do for him that wouldn't involve a super stressful trip to the emergency vet.
gawd our dogs fucking love going to the vet, any vets, all vets. Sometimes we walk past the vet's office on the weekend and they stand there trying to get the front doors to open.
But yeah if it's a strain then same as for humans, give it some rest and hopefully it will come good on its own. Fingers crossed for Kubo, poor pup!

He's already much better today, thanks! I expect him to be climbing the walls pretty soon here because he's going to be on limited mobility for awhile so that he doesn't immediately re-injure himself.
Also we have our first group dog training lesson in 7 months tomorrow and I am beyond excited to pet some good dogs oh my God
Scandal and I happened to take a different route than usual on our walk and ran into the owner of her big sister from a previous litter and now we've exchanged numbers so that Happy and her family can meet Scandal and I at the park for play dates

My brother and his wife's dog (a whopping huge great pyrenees named Brienne) had a luxated patella so they had to do surgery. She is one year old this month. They have to keep a super high energy LGD entertained and relatively stationary for two months while the surgery heals.
I cannot even conceive of how they will survive sane.
