I find it funny that Bel'veth appears to be canonically much smaller than Vel'Koz

Her form seems to be extremely fluid. Relevant quote from "Pinwheel" follows:
The monster’s wings spread twenty arm lengths in every direction, dominating her field of vision—not that Kai’Sa has a choice where to look with the half-dozen ambulatory human arms holding her head against the wall. The creature’s mass continues to expand and fills the ocean of nightmares it calls home, each glistening tooth now the size of a grown adult... and getting bigger. Its four predatory eyes gaze down on Kai’Sa with cold dispassion. Possibly hunger. At this scale, it’s hard to tell.

Given her...distributed consciousness, I guess you'd say, her mass is more or less equivalent to the swallowed city, I think. The human-ish avatar she creates for the cinematic is pretty small, though, but her "manta ray" form seems to default to "gigantic on the order of Vel'koz," which I would consider "truer" to her nature. (Take it for what it's worth.)

I fucking hate the people that play this game. Why did I pick this up again? I seriously think I walk away from most games completely disillusioned with humanity and in a shittier mood due to people's attitudes - whether it's a win or a loss.

In my first game I was unable to assess the durability changes because my monkey went apeshit and annihilated everyone on his way to a 14/1/7 win with a quadrakill. He certainly did not seem to be slowed down by anything.

Having played a bit more I'll say it doesn't seem like a night and day difference to me. I'm sure if you're really good then you're probably fucking all kinds of shit up because you knew that combo would have killed them last patch or something. I also think a lot of champs I play a lot aren't necessarily super affected. Tanky Diana still does good sustain, monkey destroys armor, Nocturne has good stickiness and sustain, etc. I never played a ton of Rek'sai, Kha'zix, Talon, whatever assassiny types.

Looking at some of the win rate data so far, many things make sense, and many things do not at all!

Kayle win rate increasing? Sure, she survives longer, it's harder for her enemies to snowball the other lanes, so she's more likely to make it to the late game where she can take over. Same with Vayne, % true damage against more hp, sure.

But Rek'sai and Kha'zix are assassiny junglers who are both down maybe slightly, but not necessarily a ton, not to the amount I would have expected. Nocturne has really fallen off a cliff but I would have thought he has better sustained damage than the other two in a fight and wouldn't be as hurt since he's not turbo comboing people to death.

    I dunno shit is weird.

On a sample size of one S-rank Rek'sai game on the new patch, I will talk about Rek'sai (and somewhat Kha'zix)!

The short answer has to do with escaping, I would guess: both R and K (you can't make me type both of those out) have tools to get into fights of their choice as well as escape / avoid damage, which is not something Nocturne can really do. With Rek, you can Prowler's and/or E into the fight and then ult to avoid damage spikes and reposition, while Kha can get his jump reset or invisible away. Both also do have some in-combat healing--I guess that's true of Nocturne as well, but Noct is going to face-tank a bunch of damage and his spell shield will block only one thing. If he's not auto-ing, he's pretty vulnerable, and his ultimate often takes him into multiple people with no way to get out. Difference in teamfighting champs v. pick champs, kinda? And Kha has plenty of damage anyway if the target is isolated, and if not you probably shouldn't take the fight regardless, so I wouldn't think there'd be a huge difference there.

All that said--where are you getting data on this? A brief perusal has na.op.gg with no active stats for 12.10, and both of the other sites (leagueofgraphs and metasrc) have Nocturne with a decent win rate, so I'm curious on citations.

I built Trinity Force Rek'sai because I don't like actives, but not having Prowler's to gap close does feel bad. TF felt like a strong item spike, but I suspect Sunderer or Stridebreaker are even better. I like Rek'sai better as a fighter than assassin, to be honest, and I still miss the even-tankier version before her rework, though I do recognize her ultimate had some problems.

So this MSI has been the best international event yet, yea?

Everything feels so damn competitive from every region.

Even when the first place team is playing the last place team it feels like they have a chance.

Lolalytics or u.gg seem to have the most up to date new patch data.

To be clear also, Nocturne is still decent, he's just fallen off from "S tier super amazing jungler to climb" to "fine." He's done MUCH better than Diana who is currently in the dumpster, but the Nashor's Tooth/Sunfire build does a lot better so I think once people switch to that she'll be better.

Hrm. Havn't really gotten into a good groove yet this season on support. They've been mostly blowouts (in the bad direction) so there hasn't been enough time to get a real feel to how the changes affect everything.

Senna still feels like it's the the right choice to one-trick, but I've been catching some bans lately. Renata would probably be a good idea since she's all about her specific utility and buffs she brings but I feel like she still is a better choice for higher ranks than bronze. I should probably try to slam out some Soraka games just to see how the changes really affect enchanters.

Senna is very good, fairly easy endless scaling, has an extremely high win rate right now (so expect some nerfs). She has a lot of build flexibility, too, from full damage to lethality to typical support items. I personally have enjoyed playing her with Grasp, but she can be flexible there, too. One word of caution I'd urge is to consider what it does to you team comp: tank jungle is reasonably important, though in Bronze it probably doesn't matter all that much. (Had an S- game with her yesterday that I'm bitter about, as I need S for tokens. They killed me right as the surrender went through so I wasn't paying close attention. Maybe that death didn't make the difference, but... >:-|)

Soraka is fine if you can land Qs. Janna, Lulu, and Sona are well-rated right now, too.

In other news I had an na.op.gg MVP game in flex with one of the most toxic teams I've played with--got invited along to fill out their 4-stack and saw continual complaints from my Bronze 3 ADC* who killed the melee minions before I got to lane after he refused to leash and...well, the best thing I can say is that we won. I eventually started following our solo laners around; they were better, at least.

This Swain game, though, was probably cruel to the other team. An early invade saw me trade my flash for two of theirs after getting first blood on an Anivia face-checking us, and my Jhin OTP and I destroyed the other lane. I had the support quest finished before plates were down (I think it was around 11 minutes but not sure). ...I may have farmed a couple of waves from my ADC to push them into the tower. Just overall domination.

    * And not to rank shame, but...it's just so frustrating playing with someone who does not understand the game as well. His wave management was terrible, and yet he complained about my positioning and not going in, which led to a couple of overly aggressive mistakes because then I was focused on going in (and wouldn't always be followed)...I should've just left the voice chat, honestly.

You know, I completely forgot how miserable the tank support items are to use. I'd kill to be able to cash in charges on it on anything else other than bopping minions. Like, let me cash them in for some gold for smacking a tower like the caster ones can.

Unrelated to this, I kind of wish there was a enchanter version of Umbral Glaive? It's kind of crazy how goddamn good that thing is. You passively kill *so* many wards with the thing, and the cooldown is super short.

I think I'm happy with the durability changes and I think I have noticed not exploding as fast on adc at all stages of the game.

I wonder if this is going to mess with the success rate of my aggressive support style or if it'll still be fine? I'm usually in a pretty high kill botlane and 70 extra hp all around makes a huge difference to e.g. the lvl 2 Leo all in. But I'm totally not sure yet since I've only been adc for the last several games.

My new hot take is that if anybody on any team breaks TOS or terms of the community against a player they should be able to leave the game absent any penalty. Bonus points if Riot can figure out a way to have an AI take over the player's role once they leave.

I'm just SO sick of the constant trash flaming and harassment in this game. I seriously think I drop a report on somebody at least every other game. I'm a 40 year old man and I simply do not give enough of a shit to sit in on a game where people are constantly just being rude assholes to one another.

I'm the poppy. Yes, I'm doing more damage than my ADC. Wanna guess who won?
We did. We had enough map pressure from early game that the multiple, MULTIPLE, consecutive aces were not enough to win the day when they were sending 2-4 people back to deal with 3 waves of super minions.

Also them clearing 3 waves of 3 super minions each while we struggled to end meant that they were getting gold hand over foot.

I also got to duel the jhin while he was at full health to finish the game. Managed to dunk on his ass because, like a dingus, he put his back to the wall when fighting poppy.

oh no the story they released about Twisted Fate and Graves is 1. extraordinarily poorly written and 2. very confused about how gay it's trying to be. Like it's trying to establish that Graves is known to be gay but then also he's never seen TF in this light before and also no homo though--not really appropriate for Pride, especially compared to the Diana/Leona story they had before.
And like, TF and Graves don't have to be gay, they can just be friends--but if you're going to make them a couple, let them be a couple, not whatever this mess was.

"Bombolini and the Boys" really undercuts the chemistry they're already shown to have in, say, the Tales of Runeterra cinematics. They come across as a really awkward immature couple trying to grapple with unbefore-realized sexual tension, which worked for teenage Diana and Leona but feels super out of place here. They were already kinda flirty and seemed very comfortable with one another, but rather than lean into that familiarity it hits a reset button on the long-term partnership.

It also dismisses the flirting already established in Sentinels of Light and even acknowledged in this story with a "No, Graves is totally gay and has boyfriends, just trust us on this." It's really a fine example of bisexual erasure here (probably also true of TF, but I feel a lot more confident in that label for Graves).

I got assigned mid for the first time in...ever? And it was a normal and I got elementalist Lux out of a capsule or some shit a while ago and I never get to use it so I said "eh fuck it why not even though this will be a disaster." I went 10/4/4 and totally lost the early laning to a Vel'koz who clearly knew what he was doing so I said "fuck it I'm just going to shove and do other shit." I'm sure what I did was not nearly as good as just...winning your fucking lane but I can only imagine how pissed the enemy Nocturne was when I kept clearing his raptors and krugs as soon as I saw him show up bot or something.

Lux is also a gross champion. I was definitely a bit behind but she just does disgusting damage while barely trying. Cool as fuck skin though.

Something I love doing on mid Lux (although it shouldn't work into Vel'koz, Malzahar, and a few others) is perma-shove and go gank bot. Also, go with your jg to contest every crab. You definitely *can* win lane by just killing them as Lux, but you don't necessarily have kill pressure before 6 (sometimes you do, if they're squishy and bad at dodging, or ofc if you get a friendly gank), so your map pressure is where it's at.

Lux is really straightforward mechanically, and once you get used to her skillshots she is so fun! Highly recommended to learn, and then you can also play her if you get filled support, too.

I played against a pretty good Lux (I think teammates said she was plat after the game, we've got a good player in our premade dragging the MMR up) and it felt like it was impossible to dodge her E if she aimed it correctly. There's no way to immediately tell if she threw it in front or behind you, I think she can detonate mid-flight anyway if you try to step forward?, and the AoE is so big. I just got poked to hell by it even when I dodged every Q.

Yeah, if you doubletap E it detonates as it lands; if you don't doubletap, you can let it linger for a few seconds for zoning or slowing purposes. It's really big and has a fast travel time so you can often quite easily hit someone who is stepping up to auto. It does cost a lot of mana though, so the thing in midlane (as happens against a lot of champions) is to make Lux choose between poking you and hitting the wave. If you stand in your ranged minions, she gets what she wants, which is to both poke you and push.

That said, a lot of E's damage, especially before you have an item, is in the detonation of the passive. Many champions can punish Lux for running up to auto and proc the passive, because she's fragile and immobile, so you can try trading if she gets too aggro.

Also yes, as Lux E is your main poke tool. The Q is to try to set up ganks or lasers. I mean if you can get the Q+AA+E+AA combo that's great, but if you try for it every time you will run out of mana because people dodge the Q all the time.

Best to use E's slow field to land Q.

Also: I do NOT understand the meta right now at all after the durability update, or, like, the game. It's absolutely thrown me for a loop. I think it's made my adc experience much better (although right now I have these fucking kog'maws in my lane that I do NOT want to deal with) and my support experience much more confusing. When do I actually have kill potential? Total mystery. What's the appropriate level of aggression? Who knows! How do I evaluate how Renata Glasc is going to contribute to my lane as ally or enemy? No one can say.

If you stand in your ranged minions, she gets what she wants, which is to both poke you and push.

hmmm I'm not sure I agree, although it very much depends if you're low-commitment poking or trying to set something up or in a teamfight or what. That said, I'm trying to think of how it is that I play and now I can't! I do know I'm much more conscious of the slow field on defense than on offense.

I like playing Renata: she's along the mold of an enchanter I like, though getting her W and R down is hard. But I've enjoyed playing pretty aggressively with her and getting those passive procs. It encourages me to be in the thick of things...not always in a good way, though.

    Me elsewhere:
