For the missions where I can play 5 games, what counts as matchmade and what doesn't? I have to either win a game as Lee Sin, play 3 games as Lee Sin, or just play 5 and playing 5 regular matches is gonna take at the very least about 2 and a half hours.

Was hoping I could URF or ARAM it.

Sick, probably gonna do some ARAMs. Just lost a game where I got a triple kill off a jungle invade at 1:30 and still lost my lane. I was Ashe with Orianna support vs Thresh and MF.

I had a BF sword by 3 minutes and still lost the lane. I'm so bad at this.

I'm coming to realize it doesn't matter what game mode I play, I lose a vast majority of games.

    I will get better

TL was always going to be NA's best bet this go round, just due to the amount of experience on their team, and I think they can escape their group in 2nd if they play like we know they're capable of.

Flyquest was unsurprising going against the prohibitive Worlds favorite. I think they could still surprise some teams in their group, but I also picked them to finish 4th (I also picked UoL to come 2nd in that group and, well, yeah).

TSM was unsurprising in that they failed at draft, and their individual players (sans Bjergsen) are not good enough to overcome that level of draft differential. Selfmade being amazing on Eve has been a thing forever, and was even a thing as recently as the Chinese super server prior to Worlds, so letting him get that champ just seemed like TSM being way too overconfident coming off of NA playoffs. But bad drafting is also an NA trait in general, and the first NA team that actually figures that out would have a handle on running the region fairly easily.

Seems like chalk so far, TES and Damwon are really good, the lesser Korean and Chinese teams are slugging it out, North America doesn't exist. European team has yet to play a real game but unless G2 had really put it together since the LEC finals (they very well could have), hard to think any of them will be relevant.

    Worlds
Right on cue, TL gets a bad draft (no initiators whatsoever) and plays amazingly passive, leads to getting rolled by Machi.

Broxah deserves all the shit for that game. Was never in position to punish anything Gemini did, and worse played everything so passive that Machi was able to do whatever. The TL draft “plan” was to win landing phase hard, but if Broxah doesn’t provide any support then that strategy falls apart immediately, especially when the opposing team is getting jungle support.

Before things finally went sideways (aka the kill trade where Machi got Tactical) TL only had two kills, and both were essentially 1v1/2v2. Meanwhile, Gemini had pulled off two ganks and a few tower dives/pressures. Just a ridiculously poor game from a player who theoretically should know better.

The beat advice I can give for someone wanting to climb ranks is play the same role and perfect it. Even better stick to a small pool of champions and perfect them as well.

As far as mids I hate playing against: Yasou, Zed, and Kat. Mostly cause they are difficult to lock down.

I was trying to stick out out with playing ADC and getting better but I'm now at -3 LP in silver 4 and I've lost the last 5 to 7 games, I played a lot of URF so I don't know what happened with my last games. My win rate is less than 30% now as well so I need to do something else.

If I can't get to a win with a 3 minute BF sword on Ashe I don't think I should be playing the roll.

Ashe doesn’t generally start bf, she wants bork for early game power.

ER or IE rush builds aren’t particularly great on her.

That said, if you’re learning mid, I cannot recommend Annie enough. She’s strong, easy to play, forgiving to cs with, decent roaming, huge burst, point and click or aoe stun, and super good at countering most of the ultra mobility assholes who live in mid. And nobody picks or bans her. You can concentrate almost entirely on learning the role instead of learning the champ.

Just saw the sickest play during world's.

Fights around baron, support outs a control ward down on the blast cone, preventing the enemy mid from hitting the blast cone securing the kill. Was just a heads up play.

G2 vs sn about 20 minutes in

Zed and talon occupy a pretty similar role, so in the interest of consolidating your champ pool, I’d pick whichever you enjoy more and discard the other. Maybe consider adding a tank/support champion for when your top/jungle/support all go glass cannon. Galio is simple to execute, and very effective.

Veiger is really strong but hard to play well. He's a glass cannon and you have to be able to hit his e. He is deadly at team fights.

I'm biased but check out karthus! It's so awesome to die in the middle of a teamfights and then get a pentakill. Speaking of pentakill, did you know he's the lead singer! Karthus is awesome.

Assassin's are hard and seem fast or famine to me. A good zed crushes me, a bad one is just a bit though. Unless you're really, really mechanically good I'd recommend a team fighter over a snowball assassin.

But then again I'm an old man and can't keep up with the kids.

Yea, a lot of guides say to build that first for a good chunk of ADCs and I was doing it before but I kept nothing doing well and that is entirely due to me not being very good. When I started going IE first I started doing better but I still have such a harsh loss rate that I might as well start bork and try to get good enough to actually make a difference early on.

I've done both bork and ER/IE and I prefer the latter. You have a nice as steroid so flat AD feels quite nice, and the bork 'you are slow you are not allowed to walk away from this fight' is already applied by Ashe aas and volley. Pros tend to build the BF items first and while pro play isn't always applicable to non-pro playstyle, I think it is here.

Let's see, also observations after day 1 worlds (still watching day 2)
I like that people are playing early game teams and these aren't 0-0 games at 25 minutes, but damn most of these games just start 0-6 and never recover. GenG vs LGD at least was fun.

Oh also I *loved* the Rogue play sending their botlane to kill mid twice in 4 minutes. That's the sort of creative macro that I think wins games on the world stage.

Narrow your champion pool if you are trying to climb on a short timeline, then expand it during preseason while you're trying to overall learn.

    1. artillery mage: Ziggs
    2. short range cc mage/assassin: choose either Veigar or Annie
    3. AD assassin: choose either Zed or Talon.

Of all of these champions, Zed sees bans but no one else generally does.

Zoe is challenging to play, so unless she really sticks with you I would not try to learn her in the month before the season ends.

I'm telling you All, karthus is the light. Lose lane, hit r, get 3 kills and an assist. Flash into a team fight with e on, die, hit r, get another triple kill. I've gotten pentas while dead and hitting r.

Lansing phase hit q to farm, only to harass when it's easy. It's ok to get pushed to tower, use q to farm. Stay even in lane. Wait for a good back to to from, and at level 4 bust out wall + Q's to kill a mofo. Take exhaust instead of to against champs like zed, but try to to to other lanes to push the advantage. The wall is an actual good gank skill.

Or stay in lane, farm, push it to tower and hit r.

I'm biased as I'm a karthus main but he's a lot of fun and can turn lost games into won games in late game teamfights. You die, players start popping, you hit r, kill 3. What do you know, you have one player alive to push mid and kill the nexus

Most people take bloodlines but it doesn't give a lot anyway. And you get your tiny sustain from doran's blade.

Ashe is more of a poke giver than a poke taker so I never feel like I'm really suffering because I have lethal tempo instead of fleet footwork. I mean one also plays Lucian often with PTA instead of fleet footwork, building ER first, and it's also fine--you just buy pots if you want that.

However if you in particular wanted to have fleet footwork on Ashe, nothing's stopping you! Take that and try out building ER. You don't have to build what's widely considered optimal if it doesn't really mesh with how you play.

You also have ashes q, which honestly I have no clue how it interacts with on hit effects, but if it does, that's 3/4 bortk hits in one person for one q.

And honestly I'm too dumb to figure out the efficiency of crit + IE on ashe. I know it's not bad, but you don't get bonus damage from crit and not sure how it scales.

But a normal ashe build bortk seems normal to me. And I think it interacts with her q really well.

Again, every game is different. If you're up against a bunch of squishies and won't be in a side lane bortk could be a waste. But I think it's really good on her?

I'm gonna start queuing for Mid as primary and bot as secondary. I'll try sticking to the meta builds for ADC and try to stop being butts when I get tossed to bot lane like I'm sure most of the games will be.
