Got a game as mid and went Annie against Kat. Dominated her and went roaming. I feel like I did what I'm supposed to as a mid but we lost. Yi got through the bans and Rumble got dunked on by Renekton and without my ult my team wouldn't fight/couldn't win a fight.

Ever have one of those games where you are getting crushed and all your inhibs are down and you wanna give up and are ffing every chance you get?

Sometimes Jayce comes on line and wins the game for you. I will gladly ride his beautiful coattails to victory.

See, all TL needed was to see another LEC team to remind them how to play the game again, and G2 remains the best at tilting themselves out of games.

Nice to see Broxah figure out how to play the meta and Jensen figure out how not be invisible.

    Ok, so NA at Worlds
I think it says a lot that TSM clearly looks like the NA team that doesn't belong at Worlds, because for all intents and purpose they really didn't belong. They needed a miracle playoffs run (where they went to Game 5s multiple times) to get here, and now their main guys (Bjergsen, Doublelift) are doing what they normally do at Worlds, which is look outclassed in every way. TSM is a team that specifically designs its playstyle to beat the weaker teams in their region, but they don't have any ability to understand how other regions play the game, and it gets them time and again. The funniest thing will be that TSM won't figure this out - they'll look at their playoff run and assume that's the team they are and that Worlds was just a bad draw, but their regular season performance (middle of the pack NA team) is more indicative of who they are. Even with their collapse, I'd have rather had C9 in their place, just because that org at least seems to have a grasp on other regional metas.

TL....could still make it out of groups? The win over G2 was the kind of win that reminds you of why they were NA's best hope this year, because they have the experience at Worlds, and generally seem to understand what they need to do to win games. The rematch against G2 will be pivotal, and if they can win that game, you'd have to like their chances in the rest of the games, especially because a non-stupid draft could have allowed them to beat Machi and be competitive with Suning.

I've been impressed with Flyquest the most. They have some glaring issues (specifically, the fact that Solo is just a giant anchor for them up top), but they've raised their level of play considerably. They didn't have much of a chance to leave their pool considering TES and DRX are in it, but they played smart games against those two teams, and their game against UoL featured them in the lead from the jump despite, again, having a giant anchor in top lane. If they make a change this offseason and bring in a player who isn't so feast or famine (mostly famine) I could see them being a really strong NA team next year.

Mid lane is tough because you gotta CS and you gotta gank to be a good one. Top is an island and bottom is for getting dunked on by the a fucking velkoz. Who even plays Velkoz support what is this game?!

    Worlds
Flyquest are in a group they never had hopes of escaping but still fun to root for some upsets.
TSM I was rooting for just to see any extra NA team get out but now after all that I'm just going to root for LGD in that group.

TL have a chance. And I think the biggest issues they had so far were in drafting. The first two drafts they had were just not good. No engage at worlds and expecting to sit back and wait? Terrible. Losing lanes everywhere and expecting to just scale up without being punished hard? Not a worlds gameplan. Despite that they still had a few strong moments in those games. And then when they finally get a team that allows them to play to their strengths and not just sit back and wait they get a good win and look strong. Problem is of course that giving up those first two games means they need to not fumble at all. And just getting a good comp and playing well doesn't mean they auto win games of course. So they are already climbing out of a bit of a hole, but if they can get better drafts(come on Jatt, what are you doing man?) I have hope.

You need to stick to something for a while and build up your basic mechanics. Getting good at League is a long process and there is a lot to take in. Bouncing around too much is going to make it more difficult for you to get a basic mastery of anything.

it is one of the less standard lanes I think. Anyone from mages, to top bruisers, to assassins, and even a few adcs can be mid without being too weird. I kinda like the fact that there are different matchups but boy do I hate seeing the random mid garen

Yeah, it’s good to play one champ and decide that you are going to learn their winning and losing matchups, then you can branch out more.
I did this with Lux until I felt totally comfortable with midlane—I made a smurf account to play only mid cause I know I’d be losing a lot and doing that on my main felt stressful—and finally after playing tens and tens of games and learning to roam and learning when junglers come gank, and what champions are strong early etc, I started playing other mid champions both for variety and to cover particular matchups that I don’t like Lux in (some assassins, for which I play full coward Lissandra, and Xerath, for which I will pull out an assassin myself (since I’ve always wanted to play Diana))
But it did mean that I played Lux into literally anything! And although there are some matchups that given equal skill and expertise and equal junglers are bad for Lux, how many times is it actually an even matchup? Especially since me picking Lux often baits enemies into playing assassins they are bad at, expecting the countermatchup. But because I’m good at my champion, I beat them.
If I were choosing a single mid champion now I would choose Orianna, because I feel like she has no bad matchups. I’m playing her a lot in flex now and learning her power curve. Lux is way easier to play though, so I’m glad I started there.

But yeah, if you switch around a lot, you will probably always feel like you are losing a lot, because you have no opportunities to iterate on past games and improve. That said, sometimes switching roles for a bit can help me get out of a mental funk associated with a losing streak, so it has its place.

There's also the fact that at lower ELOs there is far less restriction on who can play what role, as long as your CS is fine and you aren't feeding.

I'll probably just end up staying with Annie. She is the only one I've won on so far and there are a lot of times where I feel like I would have won if I was playing Annie.

Just gotta get comfy in mid. My CS sucks and I don't know a vast majority of match ups. I kind of want to just stick to ADC/jungle queue cause I'm more comfortable but I'm 30W/56L in ranked and 63 of those games are as ADC with a 33% win rate.

Also fuck Fizz. Why can he do his hop out of Veigar's stun cage but Trist can't rocket jump out? I know mechanically how it works but I still think it is stupid.

Not really worried about climbing. I wanted to do ranked to get more evenly matched opponents but that hasn't worked out in the slightest so far. If I climb I climb, if I don't I don't really care. I do want to get better though so I stop losing 65% of the time. If I'm gonna do ranked I might as well not be awful so I don't bring down other people who want to climb.

The matchmaker still tries to make the MMR of each side relatively even, it’s just that people are a lot less forgiving of mistakes in ranked. Normal games are kinda seen as the practice and test mode as opposed to ranked try hard.

For example, I never surrender sub fifteen and rarely ever in general unless the enemy team is marching to core. Because no matter how big the lead they have, their carry might DC and we could win the game and get those ranked points. In normals I am down for forfeiting if I am not having fun or if we’re getting steamrolled,

As far as I can tell she is not broken, although you personally may have had a bad experience with a fed Samira, the same way you might have a bad experience with any fed champion (certainly a fed Kog is upsetting to play against. Less so than a fed tristana, because gapclosers when ahead are scary, which is maybe what you’re cuing on here)
She has 500 range, her waveclear demands that she walk even closer to the minion wave, and the cooldown on her spellshield is super high early. If you know what you are doing botlane you can ensure she has a terrible time.
I haven’t played her yet so maybe I’ll change my tune, but every time I see her on my team or play against her I am not worried about her being too strong. I don’t know how her winrate is in challenger but down in the low skill band where I live, it’s not a problem. I believe the statistics support my viewpoint here too, just looking quickly at op.gg

her ban rate is north of 60% while still pushing 50% wr in low elo on a quote unquote high skill floor risky champion that really isn't because of her insane mobility, easy combo potential, and windwall. samira is a champ that is probably balanced in the mid-40s of total winrate.

i'm basically forced into taking annie whenever my team doesn't ban or pick her, because otherwise she's going to 100-0 my whole team with R.

her ban rate is north of 60% while still pushing 50% wr in low elo on a quote unquote high skill floor risky champion that really isn't because of her insane mobility, easy combo potential, and windwall. samira is a champ that is probably balanced in the mid-40s of total winrate.

i'm basically forced into taking annie whenever my team doesn't ban or pick her, because otherwise she's going to 100-0 my whole team with R.

At the same time, master yi can do the same thing without cc, as can a few other champs. Trynd and jax come to mind. But yi is the obvious one.

G2 why you got to troll. Give na a chance to face sunni again. Fuck my bracket. Play to win and get first, why you gotta pick this comp?

TL has looked good today and I think could beat sunni in a tie breaker!
Fuck g2. TL beat sunni twice, play like the game matters. TL looked damn good and deserving for a chance to get out of groups.

Really disappointed in g2, thought they went in throwing that game. Not even interested in watching the tie breaker.

TL only beat each team once. They killed themselves with their first few drafts in groups but they had a strong end. Nothing to be ashamed of and they'll probably end Worlds with the best groups record of all the NA teams easily. I still think Broxah is generally a problem for them in this meta, but if the meta shifts back to a style more in his comfort zone, then he should be good.

G2...isn't nearly as good as they looked in Spring? They do seem to be generally-better in Bo5 series so maybe the move from groups will help them in the long run, but idk.
