I wonder what the thoughtful way of dealing with the event level 8 boss is. Just letting him scoot by the first time and then nuking him twice after he passes? Surtr has a slightly more forceful way of handling the problem, just beating him up at spawn and then finishing the job on her 2nd deployment once he's passed by the choke point.

Also that title is bullshit because this strat is super flawed but if you just add an extra vanguard/defender it's fine. (boss almost always blows up all my guys at the end when he dies)
@Warlock82 I had the same problem so I modified it to finish the boss off on the bottom lane where he isn't close to my core blockers.
The tanky casters were the part of the level I had the most issue with, I didn't have a duelist strong enough to take them on with no healing.
Yeah, I was hesitant at first to add more because the trim wording was a little confusing (I assume it meant don't get blown up more than twice? But I'm so used to trims being "bring less people"), but once I put Siege in as an extra operator I just plopped her down in the hole that got made when he blew up. Made the map reliably farmable
But killing him down there would probably have worked fine :P
Very luckily pulled Mostima from a Top Operator tag today. I've been sitting on yellow certs enough to get someone new, so that pull double confirms that that person will be Schwarz, once she comes back around.

What 6 stars should I have for Support? I have SilverAsh and Eyja right now, E2 60 S3M3. Should I swap one for Surtr, same level/skill/mastery?
It honestly doesn't really matter until Contingency Contract comes around... and then... it depends on what's valuable for that main stage or rotating daily bullshit.
Medal requirements a little indecisive this time. Kill NO drones followed immediately by kill ALL the drones. Surprisingly no challenge specific to EX level 8 or Challenge EX 8.
So, I got a hankering to come back to my favorite tower defense gatcha, but I've been away so long I have forgotten what I should have been working on. After messing around a bit, I realized I had stopped just a few mats away from promoting Exusiai to E2, so I just went ahead and did that, though now looking at a priority list, that may have not been the best choice, since I have SilverAsh and Eyja at E1.
Anyways, just in general, what should I be focusing on map wise? I think I'm not that far along on the main scenario compared to my level (I think I just started episode 6), so should I be focusing on progressing there? Spending my sanity on promotion mats? I only have Myrtle, Ptilopsis, and now Exusiai at E2. At E1 I think my notable units are Siege, SilverAsh, Eyja and Silence.

@chrono_traveller also I would highly recommend getting Cuora to E2 lvl 50 or so. I say this as someone with Hoshiguma at E2 lvl 50. She is worth having for any time you need a big block of meat to hold dudes back.

First event I've slacked on since Twilight. Didn't manage a clear of EX-8 or Challenge EX 6-8 (almost certainly could have done 6 and 7 at least). Not the biggest deal, though. It will give me something to do in the inevitable reissue.

Ok, I'll say it, fuck that event. I stayed up until literally 6am trying to run enough maps to "spend 4000 currency" for that god damn medal. And I've been farming WD-8 *constantly* since the event pretty much started. It's one thing that I waited until last minute to do the EX missions, that's on me (though I swear it feels like they were available way less time than other events), but doing all the "achievements" combined with how much I was already farming should have been enough to get that medal. It always has been in the past and I've slacked WAY more on those events. For awhile I thought I wasn't gonna make it because I thought the day was resetting at 5am, but then they gave me another hour to get the last ~200 I needed
Wow, I didn't even notice the event was over today. Just farming mindlessly. I did the same thing as Feldorn and kept a weeks worth of sanity back, so managed the 4k medals without too much hassle.
But yeah EX-8 was the only thing I had to use a guide for; and even then I must have wasted a day's worth of stamina trying to get it to work. Funny thing is once I had it down, the CM didn't even require an adjustment; I didn't end up using any of those squares. Basically just had to successfully pull off the stage twice.

I was like 1000 shy after I had done all the EX and challenge missions and achievements I felt like I farmed WD-8 every single day as my "do a map a bunch of times to get the dailies credit." I was even not lazy this time and knocked out all the normal missions a day or two into the event, unlike others where I always wait a long time because lazy *shrug*
But yeah, EX-1 through 7 were an absolute joke. EX-8 I just looked up because fuck that map. Still took me a really long time to make a strategy work because of all the crazy one-shot damage going out in that map. (I feel like this is often the case with Arknights... most maps are easy, then they put an insanely OP boss in a map and it's near impossible as he just AOE one shots guys and revives 20 times)
Also, screw you No Drones achievement. I thought I would be smart and do it on EX-5 Challenge Mode so I could knock both out. Oh, nope, that doesn't count, it has to be normal -_- I DID THE HARDER THING GAME, WHYYYYYY????
I managed to use Eckogen's strat for EX-8, but Kukkikaze broke it down really well. the biggest thing you needed was a Defender who can handle 3k damage every few seconds and enough Medics to keep them up. For instance, Cardigan could tank the boss in phase 2 with 4 medics. E1 Cuora could not.
You can get through the rest having 1 carry to do the damage while you stall. I think this is the first event I've done that I had to do stall strats.
My problem was having Ops back up after finishing the boss to catch the elite units in time, but I made it harder on myself than I needed to.
Under Tides confirmed as the next event, starting on the 21st along with the Skadi Alter/Kal'tsit Banner and most of the other second anniversary stuff (skins + log in rewards, can't remember if there was anything else).
I'm sure some people are gonna be annoyed that they didn't delay it to the actual global anniversary in January, but I'm honestly pretty excited.
Here's a vid with exactly what they announced in terms of log in campaigns/bonus packs that are available. We're getting the log in campaign (free spot skin, mats/LMD, 3 OP), the free limited banner 10 pull ticket + daily free singles (24 pulls total), and the daily Orundrum lottery thing (300-1800 per day). In the shop we have another $25 "pick a 6* operator" pack, the $50 anniversary pack (10 ticket + 90 OP + a bunch of mats), and a $5 "change your ID" pack (exactly the same as the one they just gave out for free). For the skin shop we have the new Bloodline of Combat (Mountain/Eunectes/Courier) and rockstar (Blaze/Courier/Vigna) skins available for the usual 18/15 OP.
The banner itself is the same, Skalter (limited) and Kal'tsit (permanent) rate up with W returning as an non rate up that is also sparkable (like Nian in the Dusk banner).
Looks like the only things that got moved around from when CN got this event are the free 5* ticket + a few random packs in the paid shop, and their anniversary stream rewards (3.2k orundrum + a bunch of mats). Highly likely these just get dumped in with whatever event we have at the actual global anniversary in a few months (will almost certainly be the summer event with Swimsuit Ch'en).
I managed to get in, thankfully. And then got absolutely rocked on the banner, oof. All my 230 of my saved pulls had to be used, and I got five 6* units pulled. Which I guess puts me right at about 2% rate, so rates confirmed?
Anyway, had to keep going because I kept pulling Kal'tsit. Ended up with 1 off-banner Surtr, 3 Kal'tstit, and then finally Skalter at the very end. Whew.
Used 40 pulls, got Kal on the 10-pull ticket. I have 126 yellow certificates saved, so I might just dump all those and chase Skadi until then end of the banner.
Skadi, Kal'tsit, and Akafuyu GET. Also picked up Kafka off banner during the process. The spend was 24k out of my saved 27k + the 10 ticket + a one off ticket + today's free pull.
My literal first pull of the banner, the free single, was a fucking dupe Silverash.
Then 60 pulls of nothing, then Skalter on the 7th multi.
Then a dupe Skalter on the 9th multi.
Then another dupe Skalter on the 4th single ticket....
and fucking another dupe skalter on the 7th single ticket
Arknights please...
Kept going after that with shop tickets but got nothing, so yeah, 164 pulls for a fucking pot 4 Skalter + a random Silverash dupe.
At least it's the limited that graced me? Gonna hope for Kal'tsit with the remaining free singles/event currency, and then after that decide if I want to hate myself and buy out the spark or just hope she spooks me later.
Just a heads up as well for anyone who got a Skalter, you can farm up ~3000 red certs and buy 4 rainbow support badges from the red cert store. That's a free dupe for Skalter so you can get the -1 DP.
Or improve the second talent if you're ph blake...

I got Kal'tsit on my second 10 pull and Skadi on my third 10 pull, so I'll call that good I do need to get the 5* too but that's a whatever... I can get her later.
Now if only I had enough money to upgrade them to e2 -_- I have them both sitting at e1lvl80 but basically that blew all of my cash (leveling is WAY too damn expensive in this game). I need to farm up a couple more healer chips too but otherwise I have all the mats to e2 them both. Maybe I can get the money from the event tho
skalter's talent upgrade is actually pretty decent, she gets 9% attack instead of 6%, which is a lot bigger % increase than most units get from a potential talent upgrade.
i also forgot skalter has live 2d. i wish they would put some more of those out, i don't like hers but i could see some of them being really good.
Ended up buying the special anniversary pack thing (cause who am I kidding, I was going to buy that anyways); she came on the 10 ticket without needing to spend any of the OP. Final tally on this banner: 177 pulls, 1 Silverash, 4 Skalter, and then finally 1 Kal'tsit.

I’d also prioritize SA and Eyja to E2 S3M3 and S2M1 on Eyja as well. Probably higher priority since they’ll be really useful.
Also don’t ignore your 4/5 star Ops. Amiya is a good E2. Build a healing defender. Sussuro is best medic.
For me only the EX-8 stage was difficult, the rest were no prob for normal/CM. I did need some extra tries to finish the medals for EX-5/6.

I redid one with Ash as a sniper but for whatever reason the skill timing ended up totally borked when I try to auto.
I should probably just do it again with BluePoison and call that good. I think it would be steady after that.
I don't have many pulls saved up anyways.
