The story's being handled by the Zelda team instead of the Musou team this time, but that's almost secondary to the fact that they're using the art style and models from Breath of the Wild proper
Link: Duh. He's seen using the Runes in his combat style, which is probably just sword and shield. Will be interesting to see him use runes as combo enders instead of variations on Spin Attack. Link could potentially have multiple movesets based on different weapons, like he did in HW1. 2-handed Sword and Horse come to mind.
Darruk: Using his Boulder Breaker as a club, with ground-breaking attacks that remind me of Darunia.
Urbosa: Using her sword and shield. Probably, Urbosa's Fury will factor into her combo enders for big lightning strikes
Mipha: Using water magic reminiscent of Ruto in HW. She's also got her trident and probably has ice arrows or Cryonis.
Revali: Using bows and probably Revali's Gale for flight combos like Medli.
Zelda: Seen using Stasis rune, but not much else yet. She may be the one to command that little mini guardian seen on the cover?
Impa is a distinct possibility. I could see some enemy commanders as playable; possibly a Yiga warrior?
A Musou game with a Flurry Rush mechanic is silly levels of exciting
Also Zelda seems to use the Sheikah slate (she freezes a lynel with Stasis in the trailer), which suggests that Hyrule Warriors is giving us the Zelda moveset that Smash was too cowardly to rock
Making that Hyrule Warriors game a prequel during the Great Calamity is really smart. Perfect reason to have massive battles and an already established group of badasses to play as.

Put BOTW Zelda in as a DLC character using mini-guardian and the runes Link doesn't use (so like, 3 of the 4). I get that the magic-focused moveset of Smash Zelda doesn't fit her before the war, but there's plenty she could do in Smash.
Was not expecting sudden hyrule warriors 2 announcement

Is this going to be Nintendos thing now? Announcing games with next to no hype time. "Metroid Prime is coming, in fact it has already been in stores for a month, you have a copy check your drawer no not that one the other one there it is."
If Nintendo wanted to secretly plant copies of their new releases in my drawers I would first be concerned and second need to find a way to extract it from my pants because that is not comfortable

I'd prefer that to a logo announcement followed by several years of radio silence. If you don't have the stuff to maintain hype, don't try to trigger it early. It will drain to negative values eventually.

Yeah. I get hyping up people by saying "X" is coming, but if a came can remain in radio silence for a while, it should.

To be fair they werent expecting to have to scrap the whole game and start over
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
All video games should be announced within three months of their release dates.
Or don't announce a release date and just let things stay fluid to avoid crunch. Like how long ago was Breath of the Wild 2 announced? We likely won't get a release date for that until it goes gold, ostensibly.

Unless they go the Strikers route and have only a few characters to pick from, despite a large roster being one of the hallmarks of a musou
I have to assume they're going to find some excuse to bring back most of the prior cast/movelists too.

What a fun surprise
Separate thing, released in November
And yeah. I am not sure why I never got into Fire Emblem Warriors like I did Hyrule Warriors.. but this makes me so damned excited on so many levels.
in the "warriors" line of games it was a very weak entry but mayhap not a bad game per se
i wouldn't know because because fire emblem games are bad so i don't play them :rotate:
I love the walking egg baby and I will protect it with my life.
On the other hand we'll have to spend time with Revali.
Oh and Mipha is also there I guess. She'll probably be perfect and also in love with Link, her two character traits.
But really "BotW prequel that is also a Hyrule Warriors" was not news I was expecting to wake up to and I will absolutely play it.
Thicc Centaur Zelda confirmed.

What the hell is Persona
it's like the Dragon Quest Monsters spin-off series, but with way less satisfying fusion mechanics
