That is good to hear, I only see the bad stuff, people commenting on queer positive shit I host there.
It was like some kind of weird sewer person, grabbing my shoe as I walked past the sewer grate
You do not have to make images you host there public.
When you upload an image there, after it uploads post it as "hidden" instead of "to community". It'll save it to your private gallery and still be visible if you post it somewhere, it just won't go into the public galleries to be commented or rated.
Haha, I definitely deserve that after "quitting the forum in protest" for about 2 hours after someone called me out for acting childish!
That was my equivalent of "running away from home" with a backpack full of Pokemon cards and pop-tarts. I think I even made a big announcement post about it... ugh.
oh man. Ragequit posts are like delicious, delicious candy.
We don't get them so much no more.

It is wild to come back here from time to time and see how things are going since my heyday in 2003-7ish. Especially seeing so many treat that period of "forum history" as if it were Ravenholm.
I get it - I was 13 when I joined, and felt right at home. Bit of a red flag in hindsight, but I still desperately tried to act older than I was.
One fun part of that was thinking that the very first thing I would do after getting my driver's license would be driving 7+ hours by myself to one of the very first PAXes to see people I met online. In fact, I was unable to convince my parents that this was a good idea!
This place is responsible for me becoming "the guy that can get you into the Gmail beta" at school, so kudos for that. It's also partially responsible for my brain's uncanny ability to predict the most dismissive possible reply to anything I say online, but honestly I feel like that sort of happens to anyone who spends a part of their life Extremely Online?
As part of that, I don't really expect fellow Ancient Ones to remember me. I don't recall doing anything particularly noteworthy! But it was always a good time playing games together. An old hard drive held all of my EPYC sketches and Blebz memorabilia for years, across several different PCs. One day it died, and the relics of my time here became increasingly fuzzy memories.
I remember you, specifically that avatar because I tend to remember people by faces/avatars in general.

Now they just move to another social media platform and shitpost there. Or they have kids and are subjected to all the kinds of jackassery that they inflicted upon us.

Aw, thanks! That's a bit ironic considering the shenanigans your avatar(s) used to get up to.
Aww man, I was hoping there was going to be some imgur comments on the chico’s pug stripper drawing, but no dice.
Youse ever notice there is a strange little community within imgur itself? They don’t seem to realise that people just use imgur to host photos sometimes, it’s weird
It's not a "little" community anymore, hundreds of millions of members, #41 in the US for daily traffic and #77 on Earth in same.
Yeah, it's kind of a dark day when you realize you've been on a forum for more than half your life and you find yourself looking forward to secret santa/satan/saints on the forum more than you do spending Christmas with your family.
But then you realize it's already October and Santa time will upon you sooner than you can believe.

Ya we should convince the mods they need a second rest and try and get a summer holiday forum too lol. I love holiday forum

how much of that is browsing and commenting versus how much of that is people just hosting images there, though? I'd bet it's significantly more the latter

I'm not sure if you were involved, but I do remember it being a big thing on here when the Gmail beta launched because Google was allowing each account a gigabyte - an entire gigabyte! - of free storage space. Of course, this being SE++, the Gmail thread quickly devolved into a community effort to fill each other's inboxes to capacity by e-mailing enormous quantities of gay porn.

There was a lot of crossover between the two communities. PA and Goons used to do a lot of teaming up in games.

I'm guessing it came as something of a shock to the system when Tube cleaned this place up and made it presentable!
I don’t care if my kids get my internet handle. I’m the same person here as I am in real life.
Boring and lame.
I would be more interested in discovering that I had progeny.
I would definitely have questions pertaining to the who, when, and most importantly how. Because as of this point in time I can definitively say there's no possibility.

Wait.
Oh, yeah, Chico.
They're good, but not quite as good as company wide "Fuck you, I quit" emails.

You could try having them play Dark Souls. But then it might turn out they're better than you at that too.
Someday the parent must fall to their progeny. It is inevitable.
If it means they can no longer paste me in competitive shooters I can be convinced.
Boring and lame.
