I mean, the stereotype isn't that black people want to start families. He intends to raise the child and marry her. I think this critique is... off.
Yeah, maybe, it's not 1:1 with the stuff you hear casually bandied about on Fox News, but it definitely struck me as on odd standout.
It's odd, but I don't think it's negative automatically. It reminds me of how Aveline falls in love with someone, but NOT Hawke. I think it's good to have a variety of squadmate situations, Jacob just wasn't done well in a number of ways.

I mean, it is a little off that the black squadmate is the one that treats Shepard like a side chick. Having the black dude as the one who can't/won't stay faithful is kind of messed up! Whether he wants to start a family with his main lady or not.
I guess his story was always that Shepard was majorly sexually harssing him in a way that I can only describe as disgusting, so I guess it makes sense that he wouldn't take Shepard seriously as a partner, but the whole situation was just... not thought out and could have used a black person in the writers room to read over a few things.

You uh... Were dead for a few years, after all. "Your ex has moved on, a few years after your death" isn't really... Weird? Bad?
You don't die after hooking up with Jacob, you die before you meet him. All that happens between 2 and 3 is Shepherd gets thrown in the brig for a bit?

Oooh, right, had my chronology messed up. Fair.
I still don't necessarily see "waited for you till you got out" as a necessary thing, though. Like... That's not always what happens.

It's after a few months of Alliance custody at the start of ME3.
And, I mean, all three of the romances that actually could start prior to your death can be resumed in ME3.
This is accurate however it wasn't exactly unlikely that Shepard would be getting out of genocide jail when the clock struck never and fuck off. On top of which the fact that Shepard got picked up by the galactic feds would be a very good reason for anyone around her in ME2, especially full on Cerberus agents, to get as far away as possible. Pretty sure there's no spousal privilege for "Look, he had really great abs and we hooked up." :P
Shepard's tendency to hurl herself crotch-first at Jacob was bad enough, but when I was going through later playthroughs with all the various romances, it had to be that one when one of my foster kids of the time (teenage girl), who couldn't sleep that night (I was playing at a very late hour), wandered in to see what I was up to. It got... very awkward very quickly.
You know, I was thinking... since (supposedly) the new Mass Effect will combine the OT and Andromeda, which means that both endings have a canon now... I wonder what other choices will now be made permanent? Like, who survived Virmire, or the Suicide Mission, or if the Krogan got their Drive Core, or even which Ryder will get the spotlight?
Did the online portion of Andromeda get shut down? I started a play through on PS5 to see how it ran and I can’t connect to the network at all for apex missions etc. Probably not a huge deal but kind of a bummer.

It's definitely a conundrum.
Two ways they could do it.
Create a website like the Dragon Age one to compile all your previous decisions to transfer to a new game or the devs just pick and choose themselves.
I'm going with the idea that the devs just pick themselves, because that is way too many choices spread over the four games to account for every single permutation in a sequel for both stories.

I would like to see them make curing the genophage canon.
Could be a lot of interesting ramifications from that.

I don't think it was. I was playing it with a couple friends a few months back, and haven't heard about any shutdowns.

The genophage-cured Krogan settlement in Andromeda with public service announcements about socially acceptable methods of dating was one of my favorite parts of the game. There were definitely a lot of interesting possibilities, and I'll be kinda disappointed if we don't find out how that things went with them.

I mean if they're undecided I'd be more than happy to inform them of the correct choices which coincidentally happen to be exactly the same ones my Femshep made.

Had the same issue some weeks ago; turned out I hadn't logged into an online EA game for so long, I needed to change my password and reactivate my account. Could be the same issue.

My guess is they'll implement an origin generator like they did for Inquisition, ie. Dragon Age Keep
If it's that far out that Liara is a matriarch now, you only really need to know if you let the bugs live, cured the Krogan, and which color you picked at the end. Everything else is going to be legend by that point.

Whether you made peace between the Quarians and the Geth or allowed one to kill the other off will also still be relevant.
Basically, any decision that affects an entire species, rather than individuals.

To some extent I think certain decisions can be papered over. For instance, the Genophage could have been cured in the last 400 years regardless of if you cured it in ME3 or not. Others, like the Quarian and Geth, are a little more troublesome because you basically decided which race(s) would continue to exist. Then the ending, despite all the criticism for being the same, are vastly different in their implications and they likely have to pick one and go with it.

This was on PS5, apparently the connection doesn’t persist through rest mode; have to return to the main menu to reconnect before sending strike teams out. Which is stupid, but at least it works.
I know these will just be straight-up remasters. But generously extending the “point of no return” timer in ME2, perhaps to make completion of both Legion’s and Tali’s loyalty missions the new trigger, seems like a fairly easy change to implement. And a huge quality of life improvement, since it would allow Legion to be a squad member for more of the story. Allowing the player to see all the hilarious reactions to this friendly Geth without sacrificing crew members to do it.
Won’t hold my breath, but that would be a compelling reason to revisit the Trilogy.

Technically, he met you after you died.
You were in prison for what was essentially genocide, though.

Makes you wonder if the game’s writers weren’t working through some stuff.
Liara's face model, checking in.
Don't hear her in enough games lately.
Is this sarcasm or sincere? Because she's still in a ton of video games all over the place.
Or is the sentiment that she should be in even more than that much? I could agree with that.
It's definitely a conundrum.
