Explaining why you think something doesn't warrant being this shitty imo

Having to explain why a tired transphobic joke is indicative of tired transphobia is also exhausting so excuse me for being out of patience having to explain why Bleep Bloop Attack Helicopter jokes are actually bad.

Edit: to put it more nicely, there's nothing to lose by listening when someone says someone is being offensive.

Demanding proof is crappy. I'm non binary. I find the comments hurtful and having to stop and explain why to get to even a baseline understanding of why it is bad is a mountain of work against bad faith questions and I don't feel like writing an essay explaining it.

    But here we are.

Admittedly, I reacted somewhat strongly to a line of questioning that seemed like it was going to start talking about cancel culture next.

I'm going to be super clear, I read all of the same stuff you guys did in exactly the same amount of time. I literally didn't know that the nonsense she put in her bio was actually a thing because I'm not on Twitter, it's a toxic cesspool full of nitwits and nobody's the better for participating in it, but I'm not happy with conflating "holds ignorant and aggressive views about mask wearing and opening public spaces" with transphobia so I tried to get some clarity around what I might have missed. In this era of the Edict I'll just say I hope y'all have a good night, maybe get the fuck off the Internet for a few hours.

When someone says something is transphobic, I don't think the correct response is "be on Twitter less".

Sorry, I shouldn't have muddied the waters.

She's bad for multiple, competing reasons, transophobia being one of them.

That question wasn't phrased particularly elegantly but this isn't the way to respond to it, especially since when I googled it, a good chunk of the top results were results like, "Gina Carano bravely faces down cancel culture," and "why Gina Carano is being targeted by trolls on Twitter," stuff. It's not all of it, but if you don't know that, for example, Cosmic Book News is run by extremely shitty alt right comicsgate assholes...you're going to have some problems digging through the chaff.

And "let me google that for you" style responses have always been well below the standards we're supposed to have here.

    ... ... ... they asked for a link

Edit: instead of taking a step back and going woah maybe Gina Carano is transphobic, that sucks, receipts were asked for.

There are no receipts for 'Well I read the exact same stuff and I don't think it's transphobic.' Other than I am trans/NB and this conversation fucking sucks.

Why does Niles always wear suits clearly two sizes too large?

Was that a style for the 90s?

Fashion in the 90s was dire in pop culture.

I just wore like, jeans, cargo shorts, and t shirts. But like, pop fashion was almost deliberately bad.

The thing I always remember is during 80s day in high school I just wore my normal clothes and people were asking the AP Bio teacher what kind of stuff he wore in the 80s and he said “Basically the same thing as what [Munkus] is wearing”

Starting Cobra Kai. Johnny getting belittled because he followed instructions to install a TV on a wall opposite "the door" and didn't intuitively know which of the two doors in the room the client meant is personally highly relatable. He would have definitely gotten chewed out by that person if he had asked "which door?" ahead of time, too, because obviously only an idiot wouldn't know which door is "the door".

    Finished Broad City
Ahhhh what a good ending I'm floored.
Both in the personal growth for it's cast and the bittersweet farewells, this was an exemplary example of a final season. The second breakup with Leslie felt a bit mean spirited and rushed to wrap that plot thread up, but otherwise I was both still loving the show and was content with this being the end, which is so hard to do.
