Vision started as an AI, who is to say this wouldn't be an "ok" thing for him?

Maybe, but Bruce said in Infinity War that Vision isn’t just the sum of his parts and Jarvis was just one piece of his personality. Vision is synthetic, but he’s still a person and it’d be perfectly natural for him to be horrified to find out that he’s “dead” and Wanda has created a false reality instead of moving on.
Yeah, it might actually be more of a Solaris scenario - the horror of realising you’re not who you thought you were but the sum of someone else’s memories and feelings, and as such you’re forever defined, and limited, by these.

Just read (actually don’t) the comments in that article.

Comments are pretty tame. Most of the negative ones are by dingel berries who either don't want them to bring up religion, don't understand why they're casting someone who's south asian or don't understand how her powers work.

And not bringing up religion with Kamala would be like not bringing up how batman lost his parents or deadpool being a lunatic; it's kind of integral to who they are.

Yay! There's some stuff about Kamala's origins that I'm super curious to see if they preserve or not.

Is she still gonna be an Inhuman, seeing as Inhumans got tossed in the MCU recycling bin?

And I really wonder if they'll have any kind of connection between her and Captain Marvel, or if they're gonna make Kamala the OG for the name / logo / all that jazz, since Danvers isn't a famous hero in the MCU.

    Oh brilliant

danvers doesn't need to be famous for Kamala to fangirl all over her. Obscure fan shit is stock in trade, and maybe they use Kamala to elevate the Cpt. Marvel name without needing a movie

It helps that Danvers hasn't made extremely questionable decisions for the last decade in the MCU.

I don't feel Jamie Foxx adds anything to that character which was poorly designed anyway. I'd rather see an original take and find a new, interesting actor to do it. Re-using JK Simmons is about the only forgivable re-use of an actor short of somehow working Keaton Batman into the Flash film.

They have a lot of time to help fill in how she would be famous in universe. It was implied she spent some time on Earth during Endgame but just often. Vaguely known super hero feels like the ultimate fan girl bait to me.

Also involved in saving half the universe. The details of that fight are pretty clearly ?? for a lot of people but her arrival and smashing up that ship would have been visible from a long ways out.

It'll never happen but I'd love to see a one-shot about aliens from the other side of the universe. Far enough away they're never heard of Thanos or the Avengers. Just "WHAT THE FUCK" five years later "WHAT THE FUCK AGAIN"

I could have sworn that way back when, the powers that be came out and said something to the effect of "We totes have a plan in place for Kamala. Just bare with us for a while, because it requires us to sow the seeds of Captain Marvel first.".

Carol's not playable but she definitely exists (Thor mentions in the prologue that she's out in space. Always the convenient excuse with Carol.) and Kamala has a poster of her in her bedroom.

Danvers isn't directly in the game—she's off in space—but she exists, she's famous, and Kamala's a fan.

I just want them to do something with her powers beyond a Monkey D. Luffy knockoff. They kind of gave up on the shapeshifting and I don't know if they try to do the energy field thing by adding/losing mass anymore, but something beyond big hands. But big hands is easy for TV budget.

The old TV stuff wasn't just thrown in the bin, it was erased from existence. Coulson died in Avengers, Earth's never seen the Kree, Fury was single handedly responsible for showing up at Sakovia, and the Inhumans either don't exist yet or aren't known of yet. Fiege gave the MCU a free do over on the Inhumans, Quake, Hyde, Graviton, the Defenders, any of it they want, once any tied up rights expire (which I believe only applies to the Netflix stuff, since the rest was in-house through Disney owned studios).

No good reason some of it couldn't be ported over due to multiverse shenanigans. Would be entirely appropriate for comic book movies.

It's never going to happen, just pointing put a theoretical.

This was never stated. Just because they don't cross over any doesn't mean they don't exist within the universe. That is like saying the New Warriors don't exist in the comics because the Avengers don't let them be part of the big crossovers that happen every year.

In fact, Agent Carter's Jarvis showed up in Endgame.

Won't stop people screaming at the top of their lungs that Feige has erased them though.

Isn't there the whole thing where at the end of season 5 Thanos's guys come to Earth to get the time stone from Strange, and the next season takes place a year later but the Snap never happened?

I think we can safely say the Netflix shows are no longer 'canon.' Same goes for Inhumans. So that leaves like three ABC shows with extremely little crossover to the movies. It's cool they tried but I'm much more excited for the D+ shows because it feels more connected.

  • RhinocerousRhinocerous Registered User regular
When I was in high school, there was a group of "cool guys" that I was friendly with. I badly wanted to be part of their group, so I hung around the edges of their shenanigans and tried to support them any way I could. They, however, never actively included me in anything that they were doing.

The ABC shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in particular, feel a lot lot like that.
