I randomly checked around 9:05 not having seen the post and the TUF's were sold out. I'm in no rush because my build is waiting for Ryzen 3 so I've got a few weeks, but I'm still checking a few times a day in hopes I might get lucky.

Well, I managed to be at an Amazon page pretty much immediately when the FTW3 Ultra came back in stock, but for 2 minutes my cart was empty every time I tried to add it and then it was sold out again. So either they put up, like, 5 for sale, or they got botted.

Yep, I was able to click "Buy now" about 4 times. Every time I would then get "your cart is empty"... I figure my luck is that Amazon will charge me four times though.
My PSU for my mini itx case came way earlier than expected (fans apparently are going to be here tomorrow, despite the site still saying oct 7-14, so that's cool. I might just wait till they come to build the PC so I don't have to worry about replacing fans in a day).
It's the corsair SF600. Modular.
Question: all my PSU's are corsair. I have extra cables from other modular ones that might make things easier (i.e. cables have mesh sleeve with heatshrinked ends), that I don't believe should be any different than the ones that came with this PSU. Any reason I can't just use them instead, if it makes my life better? I'll have to look at lengths, maybe they're too long, but otherwise I think it'd be easier to fit the rounded sleeved cables around things than the flat ones that are the default generics.
EDIT: they're all a good bit longer, so maybe it doesn't matter.
I would be very careful with that. Different models from the same brand could use different pin configuration on the PSU side. At least I would check online with manufacturer or do a google search. The safe way would be to use a multimeter, check each pin and compare it to the other cable.
Gigabyte is doing another card launch on Newegg for the 3080 vision OC @ Oct 9, 2020 at 12:00AM. Look for restocks of the other cards at around the same time, that's how I snagged a TUF yesterday.

Has there been any word on when we'll start seeing those rumored cards with more ram?
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Woo, installed the GPU and the M2 drive! Didn't install the PSU because a) it turns out my current PSU DID have 8 pin cables for the GPU, when I thought it only had 6 pin and b) I honestly have no idea how to remove my CPU cooler to get at some of the power cables. I think I shoooould be ok with a 700W instead of a 750W, but if I end up with instability, that'll probably be the first thing I look at swapping out, so I don't mind having it on standby. Did a fresh install of Windows, too, since I had some cruft building up that I wanted to clear out, plus I wanted to install it onto my new M2 drive anyway. Probably gonna spend the rest of the weekend getting stuff downloaded/installed/etc. Hopefully I'll be able to put the card through its paces soon, tho. Probably gonna download the Quake 2 and Minecraft RTX stuff.
Also, super glad I kept my motherboard box when I moved, ended up needing to get the m2 standoff/screw from it when I installed the drive.
Also, had to get rid of the DVI cable for one of my monitors since the 3080 FE doesn't have DVI ports, just 3 displayport and 1 HDMI. Honestly, good riddance. I'll be happy if I never have to bother with another DVI or VGA cable again. It's like they were designed to catch on every single cable when moving them around behind a case. Ended up super lucky I had a spare displayport cable lying around. I tried one of the HDMI cables I had lying around, but it turned out to be a bad cable.
Poke around Amazon anyway, so you can ensure you get a current version of the DP cable. They should have AmazonBasics cables for cheap that will work fine.

It's a 1-2 year old DP 1.2 cable, so it should be good. Running 1080p 144hz just fine.

It'll be months. If those come out (and there is a good chance they won't even come out) it'll be due to market pressure from AMD.
There's a chance that the SKU's they got that they're assuming are "RTX 3080 SUPER" are professional cards that normally have that much VRAM.
They can't release it too soon, or they'll have some really angry 3090 buyers, since even if they add a few hundred bucks for the extra RAM and no nothing else, that'll cut into like the only reason to spend more than twice as much on it

I'd also just reiterate that unless you're looking to do 4k+, there's probably no point in waiting for them at all

Even though they have all that marketing about 8k, they really don't have enough power to do above 4k anyway, without DLSS making the real render resolution 1440p
Did a round of CoD MW, maxed the settings at 1440p, turned on ray tracing and everything, mins were around 120fps. Checked the temps and it looks like CPU and GPU were both hitting around 74C max and averaging in the high 60's, low 70's, which I think is about right.

I just used the ones that came with it, didn't try the old cables (they're all labeled "AX860/760 ONLY, so it was pretty clear to not use them), but turns out the PSU was dead. Doesn't do anything. It's not even giving a passive current to the motherboard.
Unfortunately, I didn't figure this out until I had built the whole SFF PC. :rotate: I didn't even think to test it before building it, as it's be so long since I've had any real issues like this, let alone with a corsair PSU (every PC I have has one). Pulled the cables and PSU out of my old case and plugged them in, and everything worked perfectly fine, so it's definitely the PSU.
So now I've got the PC hooked up with the back off, the cables running to the 860 that's just sitting on the top of the case. Returning the dead power supply and am giving the seasonic SFX-L a shot.
Doubly annoying because I had set out all my old hardware to put together a couple PC's to setup just in case, since I have the hardware to build two; but now one is going to just sit there until I can put this PSU back in it and re-run all the cables. I don't know what I'd need these for; but I am now taking up the whole kitchen table with components and cases.

There are a few PSU companies that use the same pin outs across all their modular PSU's. EVGA is definitely one, and I'm sure there are others.

Yes I have a partial modular one myself.
Modular PSUs are only good for minimizing the number of unconnected cables. And perhaps for making the build a little easier.
There are no other benefits.
you can also get custom cabling that has rgb
You can? SHIT THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!
*stuffs it all into a black box with no windows*
I gotta admit, I dig the FE box. It's stylish in the same was the card is.

To be honest, I'm far more interested in when there will be enough stock of 3080's that I can just go buy whatever one I want whenever I want.

Third time today I've seen an Amazon listing for a 3080 at more than the 3090's MSRP.
