Not to be mad sus, but as mentioned in Discord and spammed in Steam thread, I'm doing another 24 hour marathon tomorrow for Extra Life! I'm trying to get an Among Us lobby going later in the evening (probably closer to 7pm PST/10pm EST) cause I know most of us are west coasters. Come drop by the Discord if you wanna join in.
I was pretty distracted that round with my partner talking to me so I'm not 100% sure if I threw there and got my pathing wrong or if Magnus just missed me.
The frustrating thing is that people can, and absolutely will, overly metagame it.
The other night I played about 15 games, was the imposter only once, but was shoved out the airlock in every single game because I was trying to avoid everyone else and do my tasks. Ironically I lived the longest when I was the imposter.
Didn't matter if I could give a second by second playback of where I was and what I was doing. I wasn't connected to anyone at the hip and people only saw me in the sense of "he ran away from me" so I got voted out every game, usually in the first or second vote.
Which was actually ok because cool, now I get to do my tasks now without fear of being murdered and I can just smirk endlessly at my fellow crewmates and pray for their death for being wrong.
But I can 100% see how people would get frustrated with the game for sure.

That's not entirely lacking in logic. When you don't see anyone and can't account for whereabouts, you lose a lot of value as a crew member. There is more to being good crew than just doing tasks!
That depends a lot on how much you were able to say you saw people in the various rooms though. If you were able to give snapshots of where a lot of other people were at various points, that's valuable!

You also want to make sure that people feel safe being around you. If you encounter someone in a secluded location and don't kill them, that means that they'll be more likely to vouch for you.
Ok, since my son incessantly bugs me about this, I've got a couple questions:
I've watched some youtubers play this and while it seems like they're enjoying themselves, it also seems to rely highly on voice chat to actually play the game. With the Switch version, having no voice chat...how would that even work?
Is the game enjoyable if it's not a big group? Like a family of 4? It's hard to tell from the videos I've watched, but it feels like the numbers make a big difference, and less players means it'd be too easy to pick out the imposter.
Is there a way to play without voice chat? If so, is it even fun without it?
It can be fun with text chat if you know the people but with randoms it can be pretty annoying. If he has friends to play with it would be a lot better.
5 people is prob the minimum amount to have fun with it

I'd add: You can use a phone or something to do voice chat external to the Switch, which I'd strongly recommend. Typing on the Switch surely can't be great, and it's not super awesome even on a PC.
6 people can be actual good games. I feel like 5 would get old fast personally.

Oh, doesn't even require hacking. It's a weird bug involving opening a local game without selecting a map, closing it and then opening an online one without changing the settings, and the pointer error that ensues puts you on the airship. I think at least. Something like that at any rate.

It's probably not for every group's playstyle, but it is sure fun to watch streamers use it.

choosing your spawn after meetings rules, also ladders are going to lead to soo many good traps
Now that I finally figured out how to do the fucking mazes properly about 70% of the time, there isn't a huge amount of hindrance!

How is the free mobile version of the game play experience wise? I know there are ads but how do they interfere with gameplay?
The ads come up after each game, and are easy to skip

Interestingly it can use a mic via the audio jack (for example a set of mobile earphones with a pin hole mic)
The only game I know of that supports it is fortnite and I'm not even sure that's intentional. But it works.
