So Season 5 of Labyrinth began, and we're only getting one group, and no further updates. Definitely feels like the castle is crumbling.
Part of me is glad this is ending forcibly, since I anticipate getting a bunch of other stuff done, but damn if it didn't hit me when I read the message today.
yeah super sad. I meant if we followed the old schedule FF1 as the final lab would've been awesome. I wonder what this means about Crystal Dungeons. Maybe Water Baha IS the final Ele fight and all we got left is CD 7. Makes you wonder if weekly events might just end full stop.
Final Lab Clear. Probably a bit more messy than I expected:

Man. Also kinda miffed about the last tickets. I spent them on FF7 (still no Aerith AASB) but....it's funny I went from only one Cloud BDL to most of them.
I did try Hellhouse checking out the new toys and well some thoughts. Altho the proper order might be USB1>Sync>DAASB boy that's too slow. I'm thinking about going Sync>DAASB and try to slot an USB1 during phase transitions perhaps. I'm gonna have to check the AI also....Imperils on Hellhouse hit real hard and going Zack Sync>DAASB altho it's optimal really hurts his Imperil game which overall slows down that fight. Angeal is so good. Man I wish I had his Dual because he always hits hard. And the barrier helps out a LOT when you only have Aerith's USB2.

Been busy!
Finished off all the Realm Dungeons, beating all the final bosses. Was bittersweet after all these years.
Absolutely clowned on the FF3 boss. Desch/OK/CoD all with 2+BDL was too much.
And finally, managed to clear MAG vuln. Bahamut Zero! Wasn't too bad, but at the same time phase 3 is 50/50 clear or not. Just sequencing issues I guess.
Couple more Record End Tickets to "celebrate:"
1st - Yuna LMR dupe, Palom G+ dupe.
2nd - Meliadoul AASB. Lol
3rd - Lenna USB dupe, Wol USB dupe, Vivi fire Dyad, Edge Dyad!
Going to farm up 4 copies of Bahamut Zero, inherit a bit, then probably farm 3 more copies, before looking at PHY vuln. Baha Zero. Bunch of Labs to grind to no end, as well.
I admit it felt bad ass that Cloud was the one to give the final blow. Boy what can I say FFRK. This was a great way to end things. Seph IS tanky. I did try to use a Dark team but no dice. Then again I totally flubbed my commands but well phew. I guess it's time to like enjoy and make some fun teams?

Blargh. So I don't have Barret's AMDR AASB, which means, I guess, fuck me, Safer Sephiroth is impossible. I did beat up Bizarro Seph with a Mog team with some fairly good DPS. Still a bit clunky to get running.
I got my 7 clears of Bahamut Zero MAG, but still feel under-equipped for PHY. Maybe some tickets might change things:
1st - Bartz wAASB dupe, Leila Glint Chain, Tidus Sync2. Uh, yeah, I'll say that changed things. Holy shit.
2nd - Yuffie BSB dupe, Paine Chain, Rydia LBG
3rd - Rikku Sync2. That rounds things out nicely. I still hate you, Gacha, but you stopped being stingy when you got a terminal diagnosis, huh?

This really was a neat thing and though I fell behind a few years back and obviously have no chance of catching up before The End, I enjoyed it while it lasted.
Shame games like this rarely ever get private servers. Forget WoW Classic gimme FFRK Classic.

Aerith aasb2 and Barret daasb, that'll do!
Barret daasb sounds like it gives 3 stacks of imperil every 2 turns which is crazy if I'm reading that right. Edit: it doesn't, it's just worded poorly.

Managed to beat PHY weak Bahamut Zero. Was actually going too fast and dying to two stacks of anti-heal. Once I slowed down phase 2 and put up some damage barriers, it became much more manageable.
Sad that there's nothing to use this finished Magicite deck on though. No point in farming WOdins and Empowere 18s.
Just Safer Sephiroth left. Maybe Record End Tickets will shake things up next week. Otherwise aimlessly chipping away at Lab quests. Doesn't seem like we're getting anymore events.
Yeah no more maintenance and no more events means the Mythril income is gonna dry up a lot during this last month. Man this is it huh... My last realm ticket...

Safer Sephiroth down! That's the "final boss" completed. What a widely over-tuned shit show. With that, there's no more new content.
Feeling kind of burned out, so I used a bunch of Record Markers to clear all the different labs 10x each. Just need to grind out daily/weekly/monthly quests, as well as 10 million lab points from quick explores (at 7 million currently), and I'll be done done done. It feels sad, but a part of me is happy to be free. I'm not mentally capable of enjoying this without getting sucked in.
Man on one hand...you're totally right. Boy Safer Seph requires VERY specific tech. I did try to clear him with Rufus's AASB and Cloud's LBG but he's so damn tanky during the last phase. On the other hand...it felt cool finally having a boss fight that require to squeeze out every inch of my characters to get that clear. Specially since it was the "final" boss. It's kinda funny that FFRK's first event was FF7 themed and the last mega boss is Seph.
These past couple of...oh weeks now, I've been just loging on getting some mythril but boy. I really wish they did one last thing like unlock all the relics or something. As it is tho...hmph. I might stick around and just do one final round of clears on a stream. I did have fun with a bunch of USBs and BSBs I never got the chance to use against Wodin and Dark Odin for kicks. It still feels weeeeeeeeeeird seeing new JP dungeons being released and well...knowing that we will never get to see that. That being said, it's been a fun ride and I'm glad I got to enjoy this little game without ever having to go REAL deep in the gacha depths.

Hit 10 million Lab points, which was the last thing I had outstanding. I can't be arsed to go back and check which fights I haven't sub-30s and grind out the last few seconds.
I'm going to go down with the ship, but at this point there's only daily and weekly quests left to come. Grinding 5% passives seems insane. I guess I could use these Treasure Map+'s I just got.
i dont know what to do with all these stamina potions
Quick Explores are constrained by Record Markers, and manual clears of labs take longer than stamina regen when you factor in recharging the phone of a drained battery. We're kind of in a post-stamina world.
this is it...bye guys! it was fun to do it one final time. I did one final stream and NEEEEEEEEVER thought that Anima would be the last fight I would clear.
maaaaaaaaaan. it's been fun hanging throughout the years with you guys. through all the gacha bs that DeNA threw at us (wing wall, elemental diffuse, Quina Glint, Mog AASB2, Cloud USB1). Life has changed so much since I began playing. nothing lasts forever and i treasure all the fun memories i had clearing all these fights.
yup! it feels so weird. I distinctly remember my daughter been 3 years old when I began....now she's 10 years old playing Roblox and i cant believe it.
Wild to see it go. I soft-dropped it a few months ago, and was kinda shocked to see the whole thing wind down in the following few months.
Would take a smarter man than me to think through if it brought me more joy than stress (both personal and shared), but I did meet and talk with y'all in that time, so there was something to it. I'm sorry to see it go, but not that sorry. Such is the way with gacha games like this.
Honestly, I'd love to see the concept revisited in a real-ass non-gacha crossover game on a console someday. Hopefully with a proper Wait mode from the jump, of course, lol.
The joy I received from building cool teams from all the games and going through memorable boss fights from the series was killed over the time I played it from: power creep, the gacha in general, and the increasing demands on my time to get everything done on the game's schedule. I hate playing slots to see which characters would actually be viable, I hated feeling underpowered because I didn't do whatever the current grind was properly, and I thought the difficulty curve on the game was getting bad. That's why I dropped it a long time ago. I think it's a shame these type of games are taken out back and shot instead of being opened up to free offline play to try all the content in your own time. So these games that ask the MOST of your money and time then start a fire for the insurance money and slink off into the night. My preferred game (KHUX) also got shut down in the recent time, I have Feelings about that as well.
Yeah. That's the most frustrating part of the gacha model; the fact that they'll just snap their fingers one day and remove everything. There's so much rationalization one can do for the payment aspect of it, but it's never going to last even as long as any game cane.
One of the last things that I dealt with was the pretty obvious way they were leveraging mechanical input limitations to bloat the difficulty on current fights and such. Like, they added a speed-1 Wait mode, but disallowed its use on "Current" content. Instances of blatant attempts at artificial powercreep. That's about when I got sick of the challenge aspect.
It's a shame because there was a good idea in the game. There was stuff that was worth playing through. But that got eventually lost in a tide of Business Decisions.
Maybe I'll go and free up the phone space to play FInal Fantasy DImensions 1 again, lol.
On the bright side, a lot of people will be able to play FFIX without the final cutscene's song triggering a spike of stress.
