I was about to reinstall M2:TW today but when I inserted the installation disc there wasn't a great deal of activity. When I attempted to explore the disc My Computer froze up and stopped responding. As far as I know the drive itself is sound and the disc is pretty much scratch free.
The only time I ever see behavior like that is when the drive is dying or the disk is scratched, and once the drive cable was faulty. All these can be checked by using other CD's in the drive, and/or try the problem disk in a different drive (computer).
I've tried an alternative disc and it would seem that the drive itself is running fairly smoothly.
The installation disc I want to use is almost pristine with very little in the way of scratches. This has resulted in a good deal of head-scratching seeing as the disc seemed to work not so long ago.
