Yeah, but sometimes people have the gall to question these sorts of things and I'm just trying to provide some closure.

I'm definitely in the "who fucking cares why interdimensional aliens are throwing giant monsters through a portal as long as we get to fight them with giant robots" mindset myself. Not everything fantastic should be justified.

It should be internally consistent though and to me it wasn't.

Also, surely, SUUUUUURELY, someone with a few brain cells will realise that anyone with any dirt on Vought has had their head exploded.
Vought is the only beneficiary in all of this, and all it cost them was B-train.

The real problem with the head popping is i think they blamed it on stormfront and then she did it after storefront was arrested.

Nah, the real problem is that it extends the show past the point where all the main characters have had their arc (except Butcher who denies his arc soley for there to be a season 3). This is the biggest problem. Huey decides he can be his own person and takes initiative! Starlight reconciles her mother and faith! Frenchie finds companionship. Unnamed girl opens up to someone other than her brother! Milk realizes that he cannot win the fight and goes and lives happily with his family! Butcher realizes that he doesn’t have to be his father and can protect things that aren’t his own!(until he doesnt). The story is fucking over. We are now in zombie show territory

The second problem is that it’s a bunch of “both sides are bad” bull. Maybe the head popper isn’t the congresswoman and has been doppleganged to look like her. That is like, the only way this works out OK.

The third reason is that there is no consistent motivation. You could argue that she is protecting vought but like... she is a representative she could just not hold hearings and rallies? Or kill the people before they are slated to testify. Like, what was her plan with firestarter guy? Why do the private meetings with him? Why not just kill him?

And you could argue she is out for personal gain and used the attacks as a way to take out her rivals but then you have to answer why she killed the first cia lady she killed.

And the fourth reason is that she shouldve have been caught because her eyes gloss over when she does the thing and so it should have been real obvious it was her during the hearing. We see shots of her during the hearing being legitimately surprised and also not having her eyes glossed over so maybe there is another head popper or the doppelgänger theory is right. But like I don’t trust writers in general to have consistent understandings of what is going to happen in the next season so as to not write themselves into a corner with this kind of thing.

And, since they did not do the absolute obvious thing of having Starlight get powered up fighting Stormfront and then punting her to the moon because starlight gains power from absorbing electricity and stormfront just keeps jolting her! I don’t have much faith that they know what they’re doing.

I liked how they wrapped up season 2, at the time they didn't know they'd have a season 3. So instead of denying us closure if this was the last season we could have at least gotten a sense of things being ok.

Obviously they won't be ok, and even in the end we know they won't be, but its still nice to have a good ending point with a bit of a climax and denouement instead of just more tension and baggage.

As for why the congresswoman did the things she did, because she's insurance, she's Vought working both sides of the coin. She openly attacks the company while supporting its real agenda (to make money) and keeps drawing its real enemies out. She killed the CIA lady to get butcher and the boys moving, also we don't know what else the CIA lady was looking into that would be more of an issue for Vought.

We dont, its just an assumption that she's their double agent. She could just be an independent contractor who makes sure that supes aren't actually regulated.

Or she could have a bigger agenda, wanting to replace Vought supes with another groups.

I think it's pretty clear from the context of the show that she should be working with or for Vought, because if she isn't there is way too much dues ex machine and coincidence in how this season played out. Here is why I think she has to be working for them:

    1) Other than a handful of people who were brutally experimented on, with generally whacky results (AKA Love Sausage), we know that most heroes are creations of Vought. We also know quite a few heroes that Vought has made are not exactly well known and there is a pretty wide universe of supes out there. It's unlikely that she's a super terrorist, given that the plan was clearly to make non-white people who could be easily othered by the American public to advance other agendas - like getting supes into the military. So at some point, she was given compound V and I suspect given her powers, control and general hidden nature she was most likely created from birth. So Vought more than likely knows exactly who she is and is instructing her.

    2) Too much about series 2 is a pure coincidence if she is not working for Vought. This is most notable in the way A-Train is 100% set up by Stan Edgar when he meets with the religious cult leader. It's so obvious that Edgar baits A-Train about Stormfront being a NAZI in this scene and practically tells him where to look to find exactly what he needs to bring her down. Considering that later in the finale A-Train is rewarded for his ingenuity and not punished for it, shows that the religious guy was probably not involved. Likewise, Edgar is clearly not a fan of Stormfront and we can see that whole situation is purely deliberate manipulation.

    3) This is where Victoria comes in, because whose head conveniently explodes during the senate hearing while nearly every other supe - including homelander - are untouched? Why it's shockwave of course! His head dramatically explodes and that does, as the cult leader guy notes, leave an opening for a new "spedster" on the team. Edgar states directly A-Train is off the team because a certain hero, who they both know is a NAZI, doesn't quite approve of him.

The last two points are just way too much of a coincidence for Vought not to be working with or directly in command of Victoria's actions. It's a massive and weird plot hole in fact if she isn't actually helping Vought with her campaign. You might wonder "Why does Vought want regulation?", but that's also easy: They can't control their shit if idiots like Homelander are dumping compound V everywhere. If another company, country or similar got a hold of compound V they could

    A) Make their own competing superheroes

    B) Mass manufacture and dump their own copycat product right into the open market - screwing Voughts bottom line hard.

This was even bought up in at least one of the seasons, where Edgar clearly didn't give a shit about getting heroes into the military and was vastly upset by Homelander running his weird side operation to make super terrorists. I can't recall, but I even think Edgar states he was more mad about people knowing about compound V and others potentially getting their hands on it than anything else. Season 2 feels like Edgar - who is actually a very brilliant villain it turns out - cleaning up Voughts enemies internally and externally. Season 3 is obviously going to have to address this, but it shouldn't be a surprise when it turns out Victoria is either helping Vought for her own aims or is directly working for them.

Vought is the only group capable of making supers, and she is a super. If she wasn't working for Vought, they would have eliminated her long before she became a congressperson.

If a movement doesn't have someone that can sit down opposite those in a position of power and strike a deal, how can that movement achieve success?

Homelander and A-Train stole the compound V and supplied it to terrorist groups, but Vought wasn’t involved in making the actual super terrorists. Note how pissed Stan Edgar was at Homelander when he found out, he was mostly pissed that he had given their tightly controlled product to other countries. ‘You are not our product, compound V was’ or some such,

I was thinking that Vought is close to perfecting V for temporary use or maybe targeted super abilities instead of random shit/death combo.

Is A-train's heart really healed and if so how? (I still think the church has a healer somewhere possibly leading to Stormfront coming back but I think it is unlikely as her arc has finished)

I think the congresswoman works for Vought. Have anything against Vought? Bring it to her. She is a great plant.

Deep is losing it. I think he is too good a character to let disappear so I'm curious where they will go with him.

Homelander is obviously losing what little sanity he had but he is good at putting on a fake face. I think season 3 will explore what happens when it starts to slip.

Ah okay yeah, so Vought is the sole source of supes, either through their direct creation or through the malfeasance of Homelander (who was able to steal some...somehow? I assume that stuff is tightly held, but it also kinda sounded like dosing V was a supe club drug).

Also, why assume everyone with powers is working with Vought? I would think half the people in the Stormfront lab probably wouldnt take the job and I'm sure there are people out there dosed as babies that just care to work there. Although since Vought knows what babies were getting dosed theres probably heavy propaganda/indoctrination to get them to Vought.

As a reminder there will be a Billy Butcher prequel movie coming out sometime that deals with what happened after season 1 but before season 2. So we get more Butcher.

On butcher not killing Homelanders kid I almost think that's him playing the long game. He wanted to hurt Homelander like Homelander hurt him, so taking his son and hiding him from him is almost exactly like what happened with Becca.
