Which, IMO, is a great idea.

Was very surprised. Still wouldn't consider getting it, because I don't like the idea of buying a game that will definitely simply be revoked someday as the servers shut down, but very surprising performance on my lowest quality internet. Not sure if it would hold up during action scenes but it felt completely fine.

and speaking of streaming games, there was a rumor a couple months back about RE3 Remake popping up on Switch, well it turns out that you can access the Control streaming website in a browser and for a short time it had a logo for a streaming version of RE3: https://www.resetera.com/threads/resident-evil-3-cloud-version-for-nintendo-switch-datamined-in-control-cloud-version-website.315040/

But they add items to the game on a regular basis, right? And I assume they will add villagers in the future? Unless all of that stuff has already been pre-built before the guide was put together, the guide will eventually no longer contain every single piece of everything.

I missed out on the launch sale by a day. Ended up getting it on Epic (meh) because I had a $10 off coupon so getting it for 10 was worth it.
Played the game a bunch today, it's really really good. So good that I'm tempted to look up if it had cross save and double dip for PC and Switch...

Any suggestions for a 2-player couch co-op game suitable for a seven year old? Babysitting my nephew tomorrow night and looking for something that he can play without needing to learn anything. For context I suggested Mario kart but my brother said he'd tried it and struggled.

The recently released Part Time UFO has a coop mode, and has a pretty gentle learning curve. Kirby Star Allies and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 might be worth a look too.

With steering assist on, Mario Kart is about the most kid friendly game there is as it will pretty much play itself.

For anyone wondering, No More Heroes 1 and 2 on Switch are the definitive editions of these classic Wii games. Native ports, 60 FPS, high resolution, fully uncensored and with both motion control and pro controller support.

It almost feels like a shame when a good quality game is announced and released on the same day. Won't get the hype it might otherwise have, when it sounds like the quality of the port deserves it. Y'know, do a trailer a week before release and say all of these things, 60 FPS, definitive, etc. etc.

As a caveat for MUA3: it's not an easy game to play. But if your kid is good with a controller and understands link attacks then you might be able to finish it.

With my kids I was basically soloing everything and redoing easy levels because we died so much lol.

Maybe Sonic Mania with him controlling Tails? That's assuming you wouldn't mind taking it slower to let him actually do things, have him fly you around or kill enemies for you. Sometimes in these games Tails is at a unique advantage for killing the boss so Sonic doesn't take any ring damage.

Snipperclips too, one of the first Switch games but still a fun little co-op game.

Also at a unique advantage at killing Sonic whenever Sonic wants to jump.
And helping at Blue Spheres by jumping at all the wrong moments, blocking Sonic's vision

Death Squared. It's got very simple controls and is currently $3. You have to slide 2 color coded robots across a grid without dying. Maybe it gets to complicated for a 7 year old, but it's a great game. It's what I play with my 77 year old father because reaction time is never an issue.

Chariot: It's a (mostly) slow platformer where you have to push and pull your king's coffin chariot to his final resting place (while his ghost snarks at you). It can be played solo, so I imagine a second player can be mostly dead weight without affecting much. Currently $1.50

As previously said, Mario Kart with steering and acceleration assist are very helpful for kids.

My background: two kids, 5 & 7. Here's what they enjoy.

The youngest loves the new Kirby. It's easy as far as platformers go but it has a lot of content and 4-player co-op.

Both kids, and their 6 year old friend, play Towerfall every time they're together. I'm talking 3+ hours of frantic happy screaming at shooting each other in the face with an arrow.

Hyrule Warriors will likely require you to carry your nephew through the game, but it will allow him to button-mash and still defeat hordes of bokoblins.

Heave Ho needs a mention. It can seem a little hard to grasp wary but spectacular failures are the best part of the game. Played that with my 7 and 9 y olds and it was extremely loud laughing for hours. Some maps took us like 20 mins even when it gives you help after 10, and at no point did anyone care. This is especially significant because my kids find something to fight about at the drop of a hat but were ok with everything going on here.

I think the nsmbu games are good too. Easy to let the kid lead and you play the bodyguard role.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe has a 2 player co-op mode, dunno how it plays.
But there's a demo, so you can try it and see if he likes it? (dunno if the two player stuff is included in the demo though)

Snipperclips is probably pretty cheap now.

If the kid were a little older I would say give Broforce a shot (difficulty being the issue more than pixilated violence).

Allow me to tell you the story of Good Job!, an epic tale of the child of a CEO who began with nothing but a cushy job and smashed their way to the chair position.
    - It has co-op.
    - It has wall smashing.
    - Puzzle solving? Kinda!
    - Different outfits you can unlock? Yep!
    - A floor buffer you can get going at speeds high enough to smash through walls? Yeah, it's got that.
    - A forklift that you can use to lift another forklift? Yup.
    - Ever want to fill a shop vac so full of broken desks and monitors that it explodes, creating a new path to repair that broken network connection? You're covered.

The game is bananas, and my daughter and I played the shit out of it. I wish there were some co-op specific objectives, but it's still fun as hell.
