I tried the triangle project demo. It is sooooo slow. It's also hard to tell enemies from friends without selecting a unit. There's also the octopath traveller problem of everything has some brown/gray in it so everything just kinda blends together.
I only played the first mission but it does not really seem like a must buy for me. Disgaea 6 is higher on the buy list.
This is what the early demo + survey is for, they usually make some significant changes and really listen to the feedback.
Going to wait and see on the story mode for the new Mario Golf, since the story/adventure mode in Mario Tennis Aces was underwhelming. It helps that your golf character is a customizable Mii that you can bring to other modes.
I never played it, but isn't it what the Gameboy Color Mario Golf had? That's what it sounded like.
The GBC and GBA ones were made during Camelot's RPG era, the GBA one even had a lot in common with Golden Sun. Since then none of them have approached anything like that, I imagine any story and RPG elements will be very rudimentary. The 3DS one had a half-hearted attempt with some customization and stat modification but their heart wasn't in it.
The indie game Golf Story was sort of a "what if" following on the trajectory of GBC/GBA Mario Golf.
Also I want a modern Legend of the River King fishing RPG too.

A Tactics game in HD-2D?
Can't find the Demo on the Switch Store though. Do you need Nintendo Online to access it?

Yeah, Bowser's Fury is great though. The music that starts playing when Bowser wakes up is amazing.
Also, I'm learning that the best way to develop patience is playing mario 3d world coop with a 5 and 8 year old. I feel like I've been training my whole life for this, but not even 34 years of mario games could prepare me for it.

Hmm, that would be weird. I mean, I have Nintendo Online and I got the demo. It's basically right at the top of featured, under a couple other things added due to the Direct.
They haven’t announced price points yet, but Skyward Sword is definitely going to be full price, $60, right? It has to be. Which, fine, but that also feels kind of strange when Mario3D All-Stars has three full games on it, and that’s also $60. SS came out in 2011, and the most recent game in the Mario collection came out in 2007. It just seems like a big difference in price considering the content being sold.
Can anyone who is excited by Legend of Mana and/or SaGa Frontier please tell me why? The visuals and presentation of those games look great but looking up reviews even from the time, even from the propaganda machine Famitsu, seem very mixed.

Nah, Legend of Mana was kind of a mess. It was ok, but I distinctly remember hating the map system. You get towns/dungeons/points of interest as items and place them on the map, but the locations you place them gate off certain rare items, and you don't know that ahead of time. It's an OK game, but it's definitely nothing compared to Trials.

Skyward Sword is getting a lot of updates though, including a new control scheme and higher res graphics, so probably new textures and stuff like that. So there's more work involved. Weren't the WiiU HD remakes only 40?

Saga Frontier is...ok. It promises a story for each of the seven protagonists, but you'll visit 90% of the same locations with everyone, and often not get anything especially notable. I also remember it being pretty awful about signposting where you needed to go next: it felt like a game where you were expected to have a strategy guide to know where the next tiny bit of plot was located.
Graphics were pretty good for the time, and gameplay was kind of neat coming from a Final Fantasy background.

Saga Frontier is a dropoff from the Romancing games. There is no doubt about that. It did VERY poorly here I believe. It kind of suffers from lack of real plot.
The combat and party setups were ok. Each character ends up with totally different parties to deal with a few bosses per story. So you get good gameplay out of it. But you will definitely notice the open endedness of it was done with a sacrifice to plot.
Legend of Mana is basically the same thing. But the combat in that was a huge step up from SD3 in my opinion.
Both are going to be more nostalgia trips than anything. But both also looked pretty nice for the time, and upscaled will likely look amazing.

The thing I remember about Legend of Mana was completely missing that whole pet system. Like, you could make a golem or something to help you? But I somehow missed that entire sequence of events or whatever you were supposed to do. I also focused on one questline to the end, which is apparently The Wrong Way to Play(tm).
I kind of liked Saga Frontier 2, but it's a bit of a different beast from 1. 2 was sort of neat because it was a three-generation story around some magical monkey paw that kept driving members of a family crazy. Well, that was one side of it. The other was this kind of wonky Game of Thrones type thing with a dude who had the magical power of having no magic, which let him use iron swords or something, making him THE STRONGEST OF THEM ALL. It's been a long time. My memory may be hazy. I just really remember him starting some empire out of revenge, the empire turning evil, and then his grandchildren trying to fix things hooked up with the monkey paw family when the evil egg thingy ended up in the middle of all of it.

It's a SaGa game. Signposts need not apply.
I remember playing it but hitting buggy stuff pretty early and hard, so seeing it completed and fixed will be nice.
The Bushido blade games made my friend so mad because he was so big into normal fighting games at the time and Bushido blade was basically "Yes i just hit you in the neck with a sword and yes that immediately killed you."
This direct was great, but it makes me wonder what they’ll have as the big holiday title this year. Maybe Breath of the Wild 2 will be ready by then, but I wouldn’t have thought so, and that’s pretty close to Skyward in June. Splatoon is 2022, and Metroid probably is too.

The direct was only supposed to be the first half of 2021, though of course they showed some later games as well. We'll likely get another direct around August or September. Plus Nintendo loves announcing games 3 months before they release them.

Man they were so great.
We figured out in the first game you could start the single player story, have the second player join, and you were both able to free run all over the map like an open world fighter.
We spent so many hours just chasing each other through that map trying to land that killing blow.
I'm all for the Skyward Sword remake, but I'm out if they don't fix that item description thing resetting after you pick up loot.
"You got a butterfly! It's shiny and neat!" Yes, I know! I have 42 of them!!
Well, they made some nice QoL changes in Mario 3D world, so maybe they can do some work in Skyward Sword too.
Namely, keeping stars/stamps even if you die, regardless of whether you hit a checkpoint or not. It's super helpful for getting them in some of the more frustrating stages.
That relatively minor change alone made it a million times more fun to play with my kids, vs the WiiU version.
I could have sworn I was discussing with people in this very thread as to whether I should get Outer Wilds on Switch or PC and multiple people responded with pros and cons.
Worlds/Wilds strikes again I guess. Good job I settled on PC or I would have a very confused time searching the e-shop.
You know what i'm shocked we havent heard anything on?
Mario Kart 9.
Like, 8 came out back in 2014.
And apperntly it's still selling gangbusters on Switch, so there's that. I got it on Wii U but apperntly i'mma need to get myself a switch copy at this rate.
I don't think the world really needs more than 8 has to offer. One Mario Kart per system seems fine to me, even if 8 did do a double dip across Switch and WiiU.

They have really put themselves in a bad spot with Bayo 3, Prime 4 and BotW 2 because after all this wait any trailer that isn't amazing, exciting and really promising is going to make people spontaneously combust with rancor.

If they feel like popping up a reminder is really that important I would be in favor of just not pausing the game when doing it, cover up the screen with some text if you must but let me keep running. It'd be like the modern thing of audio logs you have to stop and listen to vs. them playing while you run around.
