Things in media that scared you as a kid.

Tell us about things in media that you were afraid of when you were younger, no matter how silly it seems now. It can be anything, like shows, commercials, video games, etc. I remember I used to be afraid of Olmec from Legends of the Hidden Temple.

My greatest fear is getting surprise large amounts of money deposited into my bank accounts with no strings attached. It's frightening.

The friday the thirteenth where Jason goes to Manhatten

The Are you Afraid of the Dark episode that involved the spooky guy with a beard, all of them. And the one with the clown. And the one with the imp that devours people and gives gifts in return. And the one where they find the literal door to the afterlife and some people go straight to hell.

Are you afraid of the dark, man.

Like I used to see something on tv about aliens and then not be able to sleep because I was scared they were coming to get me.

But I would watch movies like nightmare on elm street by the time I was like 7 and sleep fine after those.

I was also afraid that smallpox would break containment from one of the two labs that keep it and cause my death

Any time something would end with THE END it stressed me the hell out

And when Star Fox did it with a THE END ? it was even worse

Anyway this definitely doesn't translate into any modern day psychological fears of endings or mortality or anything that would be very silly

Anyone remember the movie Enemy Mine?
    That pit creature scene...
We rented the movie, and I decided I wanted to watch it alone, upstairs, in the dark instead of in the well lit, family occupied basement.

The movie was released in 85, so I couldn't have been more than 6 or 7 when we rented it. Scared the crap outta young See.

I've only seen one episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark, the one where the jester comes out of a comic book and makes people laugh themselves to death while drooling blue goop

I still remember it very vividly

Oh what really scared me as a child were the BIG BLACK BOX WARNING game genie codes that said WARNING THESE CODES MIGHT PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR GAME and they happened to also be the Mario Bros. 3 Sledgehammer Suit code so it was basically like the Nerconomicon, a tome of forbidden knowledge that would grant amazing power but at what price

I was super afraid of accidentally putting in a code and having everything fuck up. FOREVER
