Been playing Battlefield 5 through EA Play via Game Pass and this seems...really good? I dunno if they improved it since launch, or my general inexperience with BF is showing, but this seems like a legit fun game so far. My buddy who was supposed to play with me bailed, but I'm having a decent time solo.
I remember people shitting over this game constantly while it was still early in its life cycle.

Things I've noticed as a long time fan of bf is that when things change that makes people grumpy. And a lot of people do the thing where they'll jump on a hate train because it's the popular thing to do.
I think battlefield v was just too similar to One. There was nothing super bad about it but it didn’t really stand out for me. I had played a load of One and was just kind of over it when V came out. I actually got into it finally last week, I played it during the election to keep me distracted and it’s fine. Usual battlefield fun. But I hope they do something new and more ambitious for the next one
only weird thing that's happened so far for me is the TV liming out upon resuming a game, but switching over to another app and back to the HDMI input corrected that.
As for haptics for gaming, I think they're just a gimmick. Haptics for the disabled, not so much. Seeing as Microsoft has made significant steps with supporting that, not missing haptics at all.

As a primarily COD player, I can sympathize with the 'changes make people grump' perspective.
I've really been enjoying my time with it so far. I haven't played much BF since 3 was current, so this one is leaps and bounds more advanced than what I'm used to. Dice do an amazing job with things like animations and sound. I shot someone in the leg earlier with a bolt action rifle and the player model literally stumbled forward. It was a really cool touch.
I can totally see me reinstalling this on my Series X when it arrives as a palette cleanser during the Cold War grind. I'd much rather play BF5 than any of the COD big team modes. Not super into the WW2 setting, but it's not really detracting from the experience for me.
I'm guessing last night was busy with updates and game downloads all over. I've been hitting 600-700 Mbps but last night it was around 200 to under 1 at times
I can say, AC Valhalla doesn't look much different between my series s and 1x. To be expected i'm sure. Looks great on both if maybe just a little cleaner on the S
Crudely, kind of? It has a feature set that isn’t easily framed just as a halfway point. It’s more accurately a 1080p series x. Ie it can do roughly what series x can do but not at 4k
The Series S can do a few things an Xbox One X can't (and, most obviously with no optical drive, it's missing a few things), most obviously hardware ray-tracing and very fast storage (even without "velocity architecture" compatible games).
And obviously, games that are only Series X/S compatible won't run on an Xbox One X anyway when they come about.
Somehow my Series X downloads things faster that my One X.
Both systems hooked via ethernet to the same tv and router, my One X will download at around 240 down. My Series X was hitting 425 down. I'm not sure how that works but I'm not gonna complain.

I'm starting to consider if I want to drop $20 more a month to raise my cable modem down to 400 over the 230 I get now.
Probably not worth $89 a month though, especially considering I still buy games. But it's tempting.

not the first I've heard someone mention this. you using a different cable for your one vs your series x? the explanations go all over from the cable to the router priority, but you're not entirely cray cray about that observation.

UPS already has runners, temp jobs, for their drivers because of the almost christmas levels of volume shipping companies have been inundated with for months. I'd bet the driver sent their runner leaving tags for different tenants while they unloaded the freight and why you got the half assed note.

Like I can't imagine spending 500 dollars to destroy it to own people who want to get an xbox over a ps5. But I'm not a shitbird.

I doubt it’s even a specific anti Xbox thing, just that doing it on the Xbox looks visually more interesting than it would on a ps5, and this was likely all done for the almighty clicks/views

Shame, or I’d have tempted to buy a green ping pong ball, just for the visual effect.

The SSD is amazing. Load times in Destiny are greatly reduced, and the quick resume is amazing - 13 seconds to switch between Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed.

Could you do me a favor and download either Forza Horizon or Gears (I guess technically any other game that's Smart Delivery would work) And see if when you get the console if those games get patched or it redownloads a new Series X version of the game?
Wondering if its worth it to download games before the family gets the console for Xmas or if I'm just going to have to redownload everything anyways
I was lied to in one thread about another game and now feel salty about. Was thinking about getting into destiny again with the new xbox, but guess if you don't buy the season pass you miss out on a lot. I was told they were done doing stupid monetization stuff and it was now f2p and on game pass. I was lied to.

Was gonna say, with the UI being the same, this doesn't have that same new console feel like in the past.

Hence, why Network Transfer is important. And external storage support. And, if your console has a drive for it, physical media support.
If you're using network transfer and your router is nearby, do yourself a favor and hook up a pair of cables to your router.
Yep. I'm also impressed it can quick resume Destiny, at least for a while until it afk boots you. It always used to autodisconnect.
I did try to juggle Destiny and Skate 3 and it closed Destiny when I opened the other. So I think BC might interfere? I'll test some more.

Yeah, it's aimed at high fps at 1080 and 1440p with 4k upscaling. Less but faster ram than the 1x and a faster gpu and cpu and ray tracing.
