I considered changing this thread title to "Where Sony reminds us how much we all f'ing love baseball", but I wasn't sure if it would come off as satirical-yet-mildly-complimentary in a goodnatured way, or just mean.
I was genuinely surprised by how much people are enjoying The Show, but I'd never followed it myself. So I went with the Game Pass subscription numbers instead.

Sports make for good video games and baseball has made for some of the best video games ever.
Having what feels like a pretty good one on the Xbox is awesome, all the weirdness with Sony publishing it aside. Having it on Game Pass is extra awesome.

I mean if you like baseball the game has all kinds of different modes to appeal to you, both bite sized and longer. And there's just a certain joy in opening baseball card packs and hoping for some good shit (which is why grab bag micros are bad...)
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I last played a version of The Show on the PS2 over a decade ago. I didn't think it was the best thing ever but it was pretty solid. After the 2K debacle, solid is very welcome.
Now can we get a college football game that is also solid and not an afterthought for dev resources?KTHX

gamepass is incredible if you like sports games (and I do!)
NHL21
Madden 21
Fifa 20 (it'll be 21 soon enough)
NBA 2k21
MLB The Show 21
UFC 2 (It'll be 3 soon enough)
This is insane. The only thing missing is PGA 2k21 i guess?
Also The Show is an incredibly amazing baseball series in general so this is a really feather in the cap moment here
(what i'm saying is make the thread title sports related, who cares about gamepass numbers, they keep going up, that's not news)
F1 2019 is on Game Pass too - and I don't doubt F1 2020 will be roughly when F1 2021 comes out.
Always the forgotten stepchild of the sports games! (Yes, yes, I know, you can file it under racing games too, but it is very much both.)
Also I miss XSN sports, those games were largely great, NFL Fever, Links 2004, the first Top Spin, RalliSport Challenge 2...
i mean I also didn't include forza motorsport 7 or dirt 3
I love racing games but "sports" games in this classification are really the more traditional sit down on a couch and play with your friends type of thing (not that I ever do that in 2021 lol)
I downloaded The Show for novelty of seeing 'Sony' in the opening of a game being played on my Xbox. Then I remembered that it was a baseball game and turned it off.
So like 70 gigs to see a splash screen? Whatever works mate lol
I often do that because I need a weekly challenge on Gamepass.
I think I've downloaded Sea of Thieves six or seven times.

F1 2020 brought back split-screen even on PC so you can totally do couch play in that, so it totally counts
Forza Motorsport and Dirt I'd discount as sports games for them not being based on a real life league, championship, series, or whatever. Which F1 very much is (it includes F2 these days too). The forthcoming new TOCA game (expected next year) will be as well.

I really wish more of the older Star Wars games were part of EA Play/Gamepass on console. A lot of them are on Play for PC and available for purchase on the console digital store, but Play on consoles only has the post Disney Star Wars games.
A ton of them have been on GWG, and KOTOR was a Mixpot freebie back when Mixer was still a thing - funnily enough for the Fallen Order reveal, IIRC.
There are still more of them, though some aren't backwards compatible (I'm the crazy person who wouldn't mind playing through Obi-Wan again, I actually quite enjoyed that game and it has one of my favourite post-credits stingers ever). Looking at my library the only BC one I'm missing digitally is KOTOR 2, which I'm 99% certain hasn't been a GWG or other giveaway yet. I'm also fairly sure every other BC one has been given away at some point.
From Wiki's BC list, these are all the BC ones on Xbox One/Series:
Xbox:
Battlefront (classic)
Battlefront II (classic)
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Jedi Starfighter
KOTOR
KOTOR 2
Republic Commando
Xbox 360:
The Force Unleashed
The Force Unleashed II
Hmmm, looking at EA Play game list again, they moved a number of those up to the Play Pro tier on PC.
Battlefront I & II (classic), and Republic Commando are the only ones that are still on the basic tier. Bummer.

sure, but it's not on gamepass
I win!
I concede the point, but we will revisit this in a few months in that case

every day that passes I'm more thankful of the fact that my ISP has no caps
I downloaded the latest yakuza when it hit gamepass a couple weeks ago, played the opening 15 minutes, quit, and uninstalled it (it was not for me) and I did not have to worry about this at all
Being casually dismissive of things other people like is just important, man.
That's not it at all. I love the fact that a Sony published game is on the Xbox and downloading it is the only way I can voice my approval. It is just not a game that I will play for more than the splash screen and a few at bats.
Going back to racing games that are also sports games, I'm trying FIA European Truck Racing Championship that's on GWG at the moment, and so far I quite like it! Get past the over-loud voiceover in the UI, and the buttrock (first stop in the menus, audio settings), and there's a game in here that really differentiates trucks from racing cars. They are torquey, oversteery beasts with brakes that can easily overheat, and water cooling systems to mitigate that, that of course only hold a finite amount of water... it'll take you the best part of three minutes to get around COTA in one of them and you'll be fighting it all the way. Definitely a cool addition to the library for the low, low price of free.

I thought you just had to start a Game Pass game for that? Or am I just thinking of a different one?

The reviews complaining about the handling are hilarious. "THESE DRIVE LIKE SHIT WORST PHYSICS EVER". Like dude. It truck. It no car. It's heard of "handling", and figured that only applied to "freight".

They should have fucked with people and had the doorbell ring at the end and a person shows up with the Square logo on their face and it freezes and says "To be continued....?"

The handling feels absolutely perfect for what the vehicles are. You end up having to steer the things with the throttle half the time. It feels bang-on to me.
The only massive downer with the game is no rewinds, which is absurd in this day and age. But besides that, the driving and the racing feels really, really good - considering they're goddamn trucks.

There’s often a game specific one each week, called something like “Siver me timbers !” and you have to launch Sea of Thieves.
Plus there’s ones like “beat 10 thugs in Batman Arkham Asylum” so I’ll reinstall that.
I have a 4tb external dive now, so I often just move games across rather than delete, in case it comes back around.

The last baseball game I played was The Bigs 2 which had an absolutely wonderful tone to it that spiced up the sport just enough to be wildly entertaining.
But The Show is good fun, too. Just maybe more realistic in atmosphere than I'd like

fun, challenging roguelike that's brutally punishing early game but gets a bit easier as time goes.
Also finished Children of Morta Playing couch coop with the girlfriend. Super fun time together and I could not imagine it being as fun single player

It would merely be an indicator of your sheer determination to do so. I mean, that's really committing to the joke.

It's not that funny. Besides, I've already seen an Xbox logo in a PS2 game. The novelty wears off.

And I'm looking for that, I came across this:
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!

what game?
I'm pretty sure it was MotoGP4 and a MS or Xbox sponsorship.
Or, it could have been one of the later non-Namco MotoGPs on the 360 with PlayStation sponsorship.

Have never heard of this show.
It sounds like a sitcom that follows the hijinks of a nuclear family where the dad's mistress lives in the guest bedroom or something.

Looks like it was in stock for a whopping 8 minutes...yeesh
I mean, Microsoft would probably shelling out a lot of money for this (if it were true), so yes?
Either that or for laws concerning pachinko to change for whatever reason . If that’s still their main source of income.
