I have received another bawx package!

    jp666z63wf0s.jpg

And inside the bawx was... pain another box!

    u7eatuov8nif.jpg

Ostensibly, this is for carrying miniatures, but the holes provided are too small for mine! Which means, with some of what the French call bricolage, it will serve as a paintbrush box!

    Aha.

The stupid management really needs to fix the door to the mail/laundry room. They changed it to an even worse key pad that's even more finicky. You have to type the code super fast to get in.

The mail person must have gotten frustrated and instead of dropping it at my door which would be easy they just... Left.

Hey, speaking of love, I got a package!

    igduq3rod83s.jpg

It's a library book! My favorite kind!

(No, seriously. It's a library book belonging to "Cerritos Library". Have they shut down? Is this legit? ???)

Libraries have to withdraw ~10% of their books every year, because people keep writing books and our shelves stay the same size.

Some of this is accomplished through natural attrition as books go missing or get damaged, but mostly we just have to look at which books aren't circulating as much and weed excess copies. If they're still in good shape, these books are sold as used, increasingly on Amazon and other online booksellers. Depending on the system, they might be stamped as withdrawn, have the barcode marked through with a sharpie, or simply have the RFID tag slashed or removed.

Sometimes people steal library books and resell them, but this is typically a very inefficient crime, as library processing automatically drops books into the "fair" condition for most resellers.

Back from work and ready to be wrapped.

The boy loves Into the Spider-Verse and specifically Miles. He’s making me play through Spider-Man on PS4 right now and got to see me bawl like a baby (for the 3rd time now!) at the Stan Lee cameo. I’m sure these will be a hit. This RollerCoaster Challenge may be the toy of his I play with when he isn’t here. What an awesome looking game. It looks really similar (at a larger scale) to a car puzzle game he really likes.

This may be the corniest thing I’ve said in years, but you all really have me believing in Santa again.

Shout out again to @Blackhawk1313 for the shirt. I have a similar looking one that I really like, but is getting old and prime for retirement.

Actually two buckets! One has a hole and a spigot for bottling down the line (probably several months after I start which might be early January)

There is also a hydrometer and autosyphon and sticker thermometer for the side of the fermenting bucket and some cleaning solution powder and a bottle brush and a bottle capper and and airlock and some tubing and a bottling wand.

Nah sake is dead simple. Steam rice, seed with mold, wait, throw that in a bucket with water, seed with yeast, add increasing amounts of fresh steamed rice and water, wait about a month, press all that, rack to gallon jugs, wait another month, rack again, pasteurize, drink.

    90 days, lucky!

Mead can take like a year to clear without finings from my understanding. Last time I did it I used supercleer after like two months in the carboy.

It's just there are fewer steps and ingredients to a standard mead, just honey, water and yeast, maybe some nutrients for a nice stable ferment, and some sulphites and sorbate to stablize. Bulk aging takes the majority of the time.
