Cleared the first encounter without too much trouble. Being underleveled wasn't much of a hinderance here. It's way more doable at low level than in some previous raids we ran on day one.
Second encounter we have mostly figured out, but we're too low on damage right now. On our best run we wiped to the enrage timer.
Honestly I was expecting to fruitlessly bang our heads against the first encounter for an hour or two, then give up due to being way too underleveled. Instead we're actually doing alright. Not sure if we'll be good enough to make further progress, but we're doing better than expected.
It's neat.
Addendum:
We managed to shore up our damage a fair bit. We're able to get to final stand somewhat consistently, but haven't managed to pull it off. It's so hectic.
We'll reconvene tomorrow prior to reset to see if we can pull it off. If not, it'll be a breeze once Contest is over.
Our pickup group got to the first encounter, but struggled at first. We were second guessing some of our mechanical understanding, and I think fatigue set in that prevented us from putting together more consistent strategies at first. However, eventually we had a breakthrough and we have a good way forward for another attempt.
Granted, we may need to find a new rando, since our rando from the 100 seemed to get frustrated and may not dance again. So if any Xbox folks are around 1220-1230, we could probably bring in some more help if you don't mind staying blind!
Still, always nice to get a shot at it early on!

The aesthetics are super cool in the raid, and reading Clovis’ journal that came with my CE really enhances the experience. Definitely awesome lore stuff weaved through all of this
Only got one loot drop so far. I have a feeling we missed a secret chest too
Looking forward to trying more tomorrow once Contest is off

I like the area Creation that the sword quest brings you to.
Like, this is the Deep Stone Crypt. This is what I'm talking about.
I almost feel like the raid would've been better named The Morning Star, since that was the major focus. The raid feels like a mere prelude to actually exploring the true Crypt.
Also Taniks being there is kind've silly, it could easily have just been Atraks-1 or an exo Eramis as the final encounter and it would've worked into the story more smoothly, I feel.
i have this charged with light mechanic, increases my damage, but for 99% of my playtime its a total irrelevance because my weapons one shot every single clown enemy free
i dont care about group play i play destiny as a single player game and its just a shame that so little of it is interesting on that basis
I am in a similar boat, but I just kinda dropped off a long time ago. Thinking about jumping in, and was wondering if the expansion gave anything new.

i think they are definitely in the process of adding more fun stuff to do? i found my first heroic patrol (cool), the heroic lost sectors are a fun addition, etc
i mean its worth a try if you enjoyed it as there will be many new mechanics / class thingies / gun perks to play around with either way
Sadly on PC we did not seem able to line up anyone's schedules or get enough people together to take a shot at the raid. Ah well. Powerleveling is it's own reward I suppose. :P
I had a slim hope that we would open up the space station as a new zone dreaming city style but uh, it appears we did something quite different with that.
Lots of interesting stuff opening up. The new eclipsed zones seem ... entirely pointless? They actually seem easier since the only change is you get unlimited stasis abilities.
Also, a bunch more Varik's sabotage perks unlocked.
@Zombie Gandhi when do you think you will take another run at it?
@chemicalkb
Ideally tonight we are gonna give the first encounter another go. But I think the group anticipates that it'll be several runs for us to get a full clear - at least until next reset.
What power level are you? Most of us are in 1220-1230s, but with Contest modifier off, things should be a bit smoother.
So the Into The Darkness quest kicked off again today and I got Chapter 8's page for The Dark Future. This is pretty much my immediate reaction to how it ended.
My clan’s team was spoken for so I lfg’d to try the raid. Got as far as the second encounter (not counting the beginning travel section). Really cool raid
Ran the 1250 solo lost sector like 45 times though. No necrotic gloves ugh

Our blind raid group cleared the raid, first week! Not as cool as a day-one clear, but I'm happy about it!
We managed to clear the second encounter with Contest still up, and made some progress on third. After Contest was over we cleared the third and fourth encounters. Contest mode wasn't too bad, but the enemies were a joke afterwards in comparison.
I think we could've cleared the third encounter with contest mode up, given enough time. Definitely not the final encounter.

One of us (not me) got the exotic drop.
I think you could have. Second encounter, overall, is about equal with the final fight with contest. The trouble with the final encounter on contest is the harsh DPS check that’s tougher than doing damage on the second encounter, but the adds + bosses in the second encounter were the most threatening thing in that whole raid during contest and nothing else came close.
Our mantra was that since we survived the second encounter we’re good enough to finish it.

Is there an option when I queue for Nightfalls to queue with people that don't constantly run forward into the open and turn my experience into a solo Nightfall, or have I just secretly enabled hard mode

Due to limited play time I probably won't be at 1220-1230 until next weekend. Which is the first chance I'll have enough time to spend on it anyway. Hoping I can group up with a few people who haven't run it along with a few who have that can coach us.

So I didn't notice this before but there's a table at Bray Exoscience that has some interesting things on it that hint on what can be found in the DSC as well as the Exotic quest that sprung up after it's first completion. There's also a prompt to 'Place' something but using it so far doesn't seem to do anything. Spoilers in the box for DSC and The Lament quest.
Been having a lot of fun with my new Dire Promise + Truthteller (Prox Det) build. Got some hate mail confusing the GL with Mountaintop.
They're really not tho lol

I ran it at 1215, and it was okay. It's mostly a bit of running around/jumping, without many enemies, so give it a try.

high albedo?
Veriks has new upgrades abd one of them upgrades your reward to pinnacle but you need to do the new explorer one first
You need to do the challenge to unlock the pinnacle so I guess you’d want to run it on an alt first to unlock the pinnacle for your main
lol

You will lose you mind as they cancel your finish animation with a sword over and over
I did hit 95k with randoms though so I’m pretty sure a really quick 1220 run can get 100k
Arby + smg wrecks and generates orbs and destroys shields and is the best combo
