If you say yes, it asks you if you’d like to leave a rating on the store.
If you say no, it calls you a liar and asks you again.
This is a common trick a lot of places use. In particular websites that want to notify you. If they just ask then the browser does it's little popup and if you say no it remembers and just denies the website in the future.
So they do their own popup instead. If you say yes then they ask the browser. If you say no then they can just ask you again later
Same deck as last month, Questline Odd Hunter. I played that deck exclusively, and made no tweaks to it during the month. Biggest challenges were Taunt/Armor Druid, although I saw fewer than last month, and Pirate Warrior (the deck was typically slightly faster than me, and once the Questline reward comes out it's game over, although any given match was definitely draw-dependent; I was plenty of Pirate Warrior games).
From Bronze 25 to Diamond 5 (2 stars), it took me 11 losses and 20 wins
From Diamond 5 (2 stars) to Legend, it took me 15 losses and 32 wins
Final fight to get into Legend was... a rogue running Crystal Caverns? Uh. Feels rude to beat up on a poor time traveler lost in the chronostream, but oh well.
Last month I was pumped to be doing this, Legend was within grasp for the first time and that really pushed me. This month, it felt a lot more like a chore, and less exciting (part of it might just be that I was playing the same exact deck again). I wonder how motivated I'll be to repeat it next month.
It will feel less gratifying each time, but it'll also become easier to do. Mentally you move from "I think maybe I can do it if I put in the effort" to "Of course I can do it" which makes it less of a personal achievement but is a better head space from a sport's psychology standpoint. Which is why I come here for validation 8-) .
If you want the rush again you can push for a higher goal; top 1k/100/1, double/triple legend, or look for community tournies.
Pushing for top 100 Wild (and failing) the season Blizz used it to seed a Wild tourney (early 2018 I think?) was pretty soul crushing though. It's the second worst I've felt about competitive video gaming, *cough* MMMig CSL 2012 *cough*. I'd only recommend it for people with more mental fortitude than I.
Career Update: Today is my last day on Hearthstone. Working on Hearthstone was a dream but I’ve decided to chase after some new dreams. I’ll be joining an Unannounced Project at Blizzard and reuniting with some of my favorite people. Incredibly excited, so much to learn!
Alec Dawson is the (soon to be former) Lead Designer for Hearthstone.
Sweet, I just got the Shaman Questline in one of my end of month packs and it's still worth a full refund. I ended up being able to disenchant all 3 nerfed legendaries from the patch.
Quest Warrior, my worst matchup, manages to snipe my reward from my HunterQuest.
I somehow still manage to run him down.
Wow.

how 2 win with deathwing in battlegrounds in two simple steps
step 1: don't play deathwing
step 2: pretend you don't have a hero power (this one is easy, because you already don't have one)
This was all from an early triple into a single Dazzling Lightspawn, btw. No Nomi, no Ragnaros.
I swear that shit is just a better Nomi.

The problem with Lightspawn is that you can get to a point where your elementals are too big against opponents that run e.g. murlocs and haven't gotten full poison yet. So nothing on your board dies, you don't grow and someone else scales past you. Basically winning by a lot or facing a dead opponent is really bad.
I'm currently on a weird spiral, where I have dropped 1k rating on NA, while gaining roughly the same on EU (7k->6k and 6.5k->7.5k respectively). And it's weird, because I always thought NA was easier to rank up.

Well yeah that happens with Nomi too. Eventually the stats you have on Elementals outweight the shit 4/4 body, so you get to a point where everything's like 20/20+ in the tavern and just ditch Nomi/Lightspawn and look for triples and get fuckin' huge chonkers.
Nomi definitely scales harder than Lightspawn, but an early Lightspawn can lead to an early lobby blowout to the point where 20/20+ is all you need.
Want to beat them on turn 7 and still have a good chance versus other decks?

Tbh I only did the tutorial and two runs of Mercs and saw nothing that made me want to invest any time into it, nevermind cash.
Meanwhile regular ladder is absolutely plagued with quest decks and is once again a completely miserable experience that makes me want to quit the game (again).

at a minimum i think it is too boring for too long
i can see how it could, theoretically, eventually be interesting, but waaaay too much of a character has to be ground out and leveled
can't sell the MTX if it progresses at a reasonable pace without 'em
that's the most thing! there's no way to MTX your way through the leveling process! you have to just sit there and do runs to unlock all 3 abilities no matter how much money you sink in!

lmao they can't even do exploitative gachapon right
it's such a slow paced game, which i hesitated initially to critique because i don't know how much of the basic loading is just like, day 1 server load classic wobbles, but the slow voice lines and slow animations are still an issue
and speaking of that loading i genuinely can't imagine how this runs on mobile once it's actually patched in
It's just such a kind of watered down filtered mass of, nothing. I look at it and go "I could just be playing Slay the Spire or Monster Train or something". Shit, or like "I could be playing an actual Gacha game instead of this horseshit" lmao
IT IS SO SLOW TO PROGRESS why the fuck. they pushed this SO HARD and it's like goddamn guys if you wanted to fucking monetize shoulda put in some exp potion MTX shit or sOMETHING DUDE
imagine paying money for, this...???
edit: also christ @ the whole mercenary coins thing being character specific currency. You wanna upgrade someone's skills you need enough of THEIR SPECIFIC COIN. There isn't a universal currency like Dust or whatever, right. And I bet you good good money they made it as miserable as possible to grind out if you're f2p because gosh dang they sure want you to spend the monies on those Mercenary Packs!!!!
lmao they can't even do exploitative gachapon right
Well, technically you can do the grind faster if your gear/skills are upgraded (completing battles faster/easier along with higher level bounties, which I would assume give more XP), so $ would accelerate the leveling grind.
I don't have an opinion on the mechanics of Mercenaries, the general gameplay experience, or especially the long-term fun of the mode, but one thing I have an extremely strong opinion on is the garbage UI. I get the impression that they had to squeeze this set of interactions into a very restricted UI framework (both the visual elements and the underlying code) that was intended for a pretty different set of interactions, and the fact that it functions well enough makes me feel like I should doff my hat and salute them. On the other hand, I feel like there are so many layers to things. You can't just get information at a glance; you have to click a thing and then a panel slides out to cover-and-override some functionality that you wouldn't mind having side-by-side with the panel that just hid it. The entire battle is squeezed into the middle of the screen, the UI where you select actions floats over the battlefield (why can't it just be below?), there's a bunch of info that seems to be hidden for no good reason... It's just so unnecessarily obtuse it makes my teeth clench.
My other complaint is that now that I have unlocked King Krush, I don't see any reason to ever run a team without King Krush, which seems like an oversight. If I ever unlock the alt-portrait for him where he's a tiny baby, it's pretty much game over for all other characters. They'll never get their moment in the spotlight.
Also there's some fucking GOD AWFUL UX and UI shit going on man
Like if you want to craft a new Mercenary you can't even see what the fuck their abilities are beforehand. I mean, sure, not like the coins have much use otherwise, but still like goddamn show their fucking abilities
There's also some shit about like, if you complete a quest you HAVE to go back and turn it in or else it won't continue to give you progress. e.g. If you decided "I'mma clear all of Barrens" and then turn in the first quest well guess what, it's gonna make you do all that shit over again.
When selecting a treasure you don't even get to see your Merc's skills or stats. Better hope you have em memorized!!!
I'm sure there's lots of other crap I can't think of right now. Just really really messy though.
Edit: Oh yeah this was all on mobile, btw. Another thing I just remembered: Trying to actually look at enemy tooltips is INSANELY frustrating, you have to press and hold and then it's like whoop the tooltip pops up UNDER YOUR THUMB VERY COOL
OH MY GOD and once you slap down a Merc you CANNOT swap it back out into your hand like that's fucking insane. What if you changed your mind or made a mistake?! NOPE TOO BAD. And there's even like positional based stuff too, so if you fucked that one up you can't unfuck it.
When a third party site does the dev's job better than they did in lightning fast time (and like how fucking long was Mercs in dev for???)
This is like some basic shit, man. This kind of info should just be shown, you should be able to see access to enemy Mercs' abilities, not just the one they've got queued up.

Topkek at people running nerfed Illucia. Taunt Druid putting up 55%+ winrates outside of top legend is pretty nutty too.
Edit: Oh hey look at that, according to VS, Quest Mage is one of the few decks that beats Handbuff Paladin. I was right!
