Obviously it'll start with MGS4, then 5 and 6 [Death Stranding], before going back to hit up the prequels 1, 2, and 3

Yes, MGSV is a prequel, but that's not important here. What's important is that you don't question my ART, my VISION

Also I forgot just how horny this game can be. Obviously I choose every heart dialogue option in the game because everyone is queer and poly in Ancient Greece. Kassandra just had sex with an old lady because her husband doesn’t have the energy anymore to keep up with her. He thanked me afterwards and gave me my quest reward.

    @Jacobkosh i guess

also my experience is i really am not into reading a lot of the stuff that is regularly recommended here

which is not a value judgment, just

the track record is that the recommendations aren't for me
    thats weird
the recommendations here are uniformly excellent on all fronts

I miss having the mental energy to read for pleasure :(

It's weird how sometimes I just don't have the energy to read stuff that's so good that someone decided it must be Published (so, in other words, Ready Player One) so instead I read chat, the gutter of all human thought

I have found listening to books on audible to be much more appealing than reading in this dark time, plus it encourages me to go for a walk and listen
I am SCARFING books on audible this year. Protip: if they stop you from automatically returning books you just email them and they still return them. I have an ever revolving audio library. I have a list of my most hated narrators though and will return a book at the drop of a hat if I think they are gonna get the idea to do their best community theater rendition of a villain.

    Two Kinds of Intelligence

There are two kinds of intelligence: one acquired,
as a child in school memorizes facts and concepts
from books and from what the teacher says,
collecting information from the traditional sciences
as well as from the new sciences.

With such intelligence you rise in the world.
You get ranked ahead or behind others
in regard to your competence in retaining
information. You stroll with this intelligence
in and out of fields of knowledge, getting always more
    marks on your preserving tablets.

There is another kind of tablet, one
already completed and preserved inside you.
A spring overflowing its springbox. A freshness
in the center of the chest. This other intelligence
does not turn yellow or stagnate. It's fluid,
and it doesn't move from outside to inside
    through conduits of plumbing-learning.

This second knowing is a fountainhead
    from within you, moving out.

I was talking about how 'being smart' was a big part of my identity at one point, and how it was painful for my self image to go through experiences where that wasn't the case (grad school, going back to school after 10 years to switch careers) and how that focus on smart doesn't make much sense to me these days

again, my not having a commute is killing my reading and music listening

I was trending downward last year but no flights at all this year has wrecked my reading.

    oh shiiiii

There is a local creamery/chocolatier here on a lake that has like, a proprietor straight out the Old Country

My wife and I booked a visit since they're doing tastings by appointment and we walked out with gifts for like 4 people, a panforte for Christmas, and some last gifts for my SECRET SANTA

    Vulcan Raven: Dave Bautista
    Otacon: Thomas Middleditch
    Mei-Link: Pom Klementif
    Meryl: Jessica Chastain?
    Decoy Octopus: Jeffrey Wright

This new book is highly recommended but all the black people live in "Ashtown" and all the white people live in "Wily City". Kind of rolling my eyes out of my head. Way to "subtly highlight inequality" as advertised.

it doesn't help to then be exiled once the emperor is dead yet still have enough writing skills to write a book while being forced into a convent and be so good that it's copied and preserved for 1,000 years

I often envisage kosh as Orson Welles

both have the combined intellectual and physical gravitas of a Wisconsin offensive lineman and, also like those girthy Sconnie linemen, are completely out of place in modern society
