yeah I sorta feel like having PC Gamer and Gamespot both score the game in the 70s says a lot about the prevalence of bugs

kinda side-eyeing a lot of the perfect score outlets

i don't really have a lot of faith in most sites that give numbered review scores to weigh narrative/storytelling/world building as part of their rating criteria

I mean it all comes down to what those of us who are pro gamers already know, the text of a review is more important than the score. But there's too much institutional inertia for us to truly get rid of scores, and a large portion of the casual audience just wants to see a score aggregate.

i'm not sure what my game of the year would be right now but i also don't know how much of that is that it's harder to reach that conclusion when you've had a depressing year and there was a global pandemic

Subnautica: Below Zero is probably my leading contender at this point. It's still technically in Early Access but it's story complete. It fucking rules
