I collect two things, books and coats, which are both among the worst things to collect because they’re bulky and heavy and a pain in the ass when you have to move

But by god I can’t help myself sometimes

I mean just LOOK at that fucking design, what am I made of stone

It’s a sleeve that goes over the book

There’s also cool illustrations inside and some very clean typography but that’s just for me, a nerd

I bought my dad this bad boy for Christmas, now I have to ship it to him though...

His head moves, mouth opens and he talks. He also has a magnetic plate to let him set on your shoulder.

I really get a satisfied feeling from buying archery supplies, especially arrows. There are a lot of variables.

    I'm sure y'all are surprised

I'm getting a new Battery powered chainsaw for Christmas and I'm very excited to start cutting things down. Got some shrubberies that are too thick for the hedge trimmer. They'll be the first to go.

Bought Huey, Dewey, and Louie this new-fangled marble run for Christmas:

    vaywj7pr7ls7.png

Seems like a good uncle gift because it's complicated, noisy and presents an eternal slipping hazard.

Hopefully the magnetic railgun attachment will be back in stock by the oldest one's birthday.

Just succumbed to Consumerism and bought a high tech camping mattress because the last camping trip was slightly suboptimal, comfort wise.
Feel like this Xmas has already been unusually spendy even before I did that, but that's 1am dumb online shopping decisions for you.

I feel you on the 1 AM dumb online shopping decisions, that's why I'm apparently upgrading my home work computer. Though I'm curious about what makes this matress high tech? Mind, I'm used to the standard inflatable thermarest type of camping mat, ideally with a little bit of insulation woven in to improve that R value!

It's got an R of 4.2! Multiple internal layers and a honeycomb inflation structure allegedly make it incredibly lightweight, comfortable, and insulated. Also it was half off and that's about the point at which I can be persuaded by decent ad copy.

  • Options
    useruser Registered User regular
The honeycomb is a great idea -- I know I've lost the good and comfortable use of the traditional old-school lateral bar air pocket mattresses, because after years of disabuse, the glue holding those pockets firm became undone resulting in what I guess is best approximated a matress with only a bulbous set of one thorax and one abdomen.

a vintage Earthwing skateboard I bought back in November finally showed up on Friday, one of the funky skateboards with a few longboard features to mount big wheels. it also cheats on weight by using a sort of plastic laminate which also makes it fuckoff durable and immune to warping. looking forward to re-teaching myself how to do city skating for fun on my days off

I splurged and picked up a wooden carrying case for notebooks and writing supplies

It's extremely non essential and in fact merely ensures I will have to spend more money on things to fill it up and currently I do not have anywhere to go whereupon I might bring such a kit, but by god one day I will
