There was a story on the local news broadcast last night about some kind of shortage of some kind of microchips, which is causing new and used car prices to climb
I hope it is not impacting your area at this time,
But The News made it sound like a global situation

I got some nice hardcover copies of Guards! Guards! and Men at Arms. They are very nice.
you can still buy a fistful of motorcycles with carbs new from the factory (mostly legacy-design dual-sports like the Suzuki DR650SE or the Honda XR650L) and those are not too bad to work on, because they're designed to be worked on and are even more accessible than on a lawnmower
but once you start having to deal with multiple carb setups, shit starts getting wild

Ohh I am going to pay way to much due to the chip shortage. Small upside the shortage is causing trade-ins to be worth more.
I am currently trying to buy a car and a plugin in hybrid makes the most sense for my wants and area. Unfortunately it is basically impossible to find primarily from the chip shortage, and most manufacturers don't even sell them in my state.
How am I supposed to do a capitalism if I don't have a supply?

there should ideally be a huge difference between the EFI controller computers used for electronic fuel injection (which have been around for decades, and the default in literally all new passenger cars since the early '90s) and the active computers used for car infotainment systems
the problem is the difference between the two is getting increasingly entangled
Sounds like a good way to end up with your self-driving car in a wall.
Nothing. Matters.

And then was very surprised that he claims to have been into them since 2018.
Cars should not have humans in them at all
I'm not terribly happy about this particular form of capitalist exchange
love a carburetor when it's working properly, but by god do they have some pitfalls unless you're handy with them
I just cleaned out my lawn mowers carburetor so it could actually start, and even that simple example took me a few hours.
90% was of course getting it off the damn mower but yeah gees.

Better than a PragerU
I still don't entirely believe that a "carburetor" is a real part of a car
like if a mechanic told me my bike had a problem with the bike-arator, I'd be suspicious
