I need to say. This game is masterpiece. Yeah, It has own technical problems for now, but the world, people and gameplay is great. I constantly catch myself stopping and staring at the city view.
I am not going to go that far, but it's pretty good.
It's interesting, though, that this forum seems to love it after being skeptical but that /r/cyberpunkgame has turned on it after being being ultra-hyped.
I'm conflicted about that. On the one hand, I don't think the game deserves the sort of vitriol that it's getting there now. On the other, I'm kind of OK with the unrealistic expectations of irrationally devoted super fanboys getting crushed by a developer they've slavishly idolized for years. Their sort of consumer tribalism doesn't do anyone any good, but it's probably too much to hope for that they'll learn anything from all this.

Even without the RPG knowledge the setting and atmosphere is incredibly spot-on. It's extremely cyberpunk which shouldn't be surprising due to the name but very few games do old-school cyberpunk and instead go for post-cyberpunk, e.g. Deus Ex. This game feels like 80s style cyberpunk brought to life complete with the hair styles and Asian influence on culture.
As for silencers, it seems like it's for handguns, SMGs, and maybe assault rifles. Pretty sure I remember those having a muzzle slot.
I wish I understood how crafting works properly. I get how to upgrade things, and I get that "Iconic" weapons can be overhauled completely to be bumped up to the next level of rarity... but I don't understand why I'd ever actually want to. I've got two "Iconic" pistols, one "Uncommon" and one "Rare" and yet I've got an regular "Uncommon" trash handgun that does 20 more DPS than either of them. I don't understand what the point of the different rarities is when "rare" weapons don't actually seem to be any better than regular ones.
It seems to me that items have hidden levels, and those levels are dictated by YOUR level when you acquire them, or found weapons will be based on the expected level (difficulty) for a given quest.
Pick up a legendary x early on, and in a few levels a green x from any old vendor will out-DPS it.
I think.
The price of upgrading my katana every five levels or so is a little grating, but by the time I do the numbers difference is so huge and I'm usually so flush I go for it.

I'm kind of confused. I feel like I got some kind of audio think while I was just walking/roaming around and then I noticed a blue badge/star on my minimap, but that blue badge/star doesn't show up in the main map. I managed to non-lethally take out all 5 maniacs/fanatics and then the badge thing went away but there didn't seem to be any reaction from the NPCs I "saved" and the game didn't notify me of anything else, and no reward other than the EXP and loot I got from the fanatics. I also noticed that the unconscious enemies gave me street cred and EXP If I dismembered them with my katana, but that didn't change anything with regard to the reactions of the NPCs...or anything. Going back and forth between saves, it seems like non-lethal takedowns don't fulfill a bounty.
Anyway, is that normal behavior for the game? Can someone explain more?

While racing light mechs, your Urbanmech comes in second place, but only because it ran out of ammo.

That's a crime you can interrupt for cash and xp. Do it! But check on the map if it's too difficult.
They tend to be quick and easy xp.
Ed: crimes are always blue, stores are always white, missions are yellow.

For many of them there is a proper box you must loot, that has several nice items, and that will finish the "mission". For others you just need to clear them all out.

Thanks. What I'm really asking is, does the game say "hey, you finished resolving this crime in progress" or whatever or is there no feedback? Because I didn't get any such message or feedback from the game even though I took all the dudes out. All that seemingly happened is the blue badge icon disappeared from my minimap.

If a blue hex with a symbol inside it such as a club or skull is on the map, then it's a side activity. If it's just a badge that only shows up on your minimap as you get close it seems to just be a random encounter. Just seems to be a way of giving some context for getting into a fight if you want to.

Just reached act two.
Guys, the MSQ is REALLY good.
the interlude was excellent at immediately establishing Johnny as a legendary badass and also kind of crazy.
I am anecdotally noticing a distinct split in responses between people with prior knowledge/experience of the Cyberpunk RPG, and people with only genre knowledge. For me, this is a video game Cyberpunk RPG campaign, and I am loving it. For someone with different expectations of content or approach, maybe a lot less satisfied.
Interesting that you bring up the setting. Some people I've heard talk about the game are actually upset that they kept to the 80's cyberpunk astheltic, because it doesn't "connect" as well with our current reality (which is displaying many hallmarks of a Cyberpunk future). It's not an argument I subscribe to, but it's an interesting one. That because the game hues so closely to the source material it can actually feel very out of touch with our actual reality.

Well that's not a particularly fair complaint so I don't have much truck with it. If they didn't keep to the source material people would complain about that too.

Like I said, not something I personally have felt, but the conversation I was listening to that brought it up was interesting and a lot more nuanced than I'm giving it credit for in three lines.

Yeah, I got some silencers from a shop, and my AR took one, but my two pistols got nothing... Maybe they just don't actually have slots, I was assuming there was a muzzle type for a specific gun or something.
Man. I've gone so deep in the hackings direction that I haven't fired a gun in ages. I can just clear out buildings of people with hacks without even entering the area.

I do this and have an SMG for when things get hairy. And a sniper rifle that shoots through walls when I want to be rude/something isn’t visible to the cameras.
Man, sometimes the writing in this game is really good.
Act 2 stuff (or Act 1? the act after the prologue/title screen)
That scene on the roof where you're talking with Goro after scoping out the complex. Just sort of talking about your childhoods and corporations and what they mean for society and whatnot. It was so nice.
Also earlier, the stuff at Clouds with the doll was great. Just a hushed conversation about confronting death and fear and all of that.

Re the cop missions, I think it makes total sesne for a place as messed up as Night City to subcontract mercs. It's kind of a social commentary on the concept of mercenary soldiers when you think of it. "Sure, our job is to maintain the peace here, but it's easier to just hire a psychotic, probably drugged-up vigilante who has no regard for collateral damage."
Currently Most Hype For: VTMB2, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Alan Wake 2 (Wake Harder)Currently Playin: Guilty Gear XX AC+R, Gat Out Of Hell
Pistols absolutely can take silencers. . .if you get a slot for them. It seems like some pistols don't have weapon attachments (like the revolvers and the pistols that start with a B and hit like trucks).
And as fun as hacking is, running into combat with a Precision Rifle that is basically a shotgun with no weapon is crazy. This is from someone who has specced deep into INT. After unlocking Rare Quickhacks, I think I'll put some points in REFLEX just to get some more combat wackiness going on.

I just had the end of act 1 mission get bugged in a hilarious way.
When he reached up to pick up the chip, it was replaced with Jackie's pistol model. Just a pistol sitting inside his head. He pulled it out and handed it to me.
It was very touching. I was quite moved.

I've been mostly bumping int with dex and tech a bit behind. While hacking has a lot of perks that don't appeal to me, handguns do. I have two of the legendary optics mods that boost headshot damage and the headshot damage perks from the handgun tree. Headshot criticals are nasty and I also have a 42% chance to crit with handguns. It's not the raw damage of shotguns but seeing the occasional enemy drop from almost full health to death in one shot is fun.

I’ll say that the game being as buggy as it is makes me anxious that I’m missing something
Like, spoilers for a side collectible:
the tarot stuff? The first time you find one, Johnny appears and says something, and you have a little dialogue about it. Every other time, approaching one gives you a simple dialogue prompt, but then V says nothing and Johnny doesn’t appear
But I don’t know if that’s intentional or if the game is just bugging out!
There have also been dialogue scenes with Misty where I said something and the other person didn’t respond, but I was talking about something in the environment, looking at it, and in context the person doesn’t have to respond at all, but the fact is I don’t know if that’s intentional or another bug and I just didn’t get their dialogue to trigger!
Olivawgood name, isn't it?the foot of mt fujiRegistered Userregular
Also I like the dialogue system, I like being able to just walk away from someone without saying goodbye and explicitly ending the Dialogue Action, but the fact that there is no option for V to go “okay see ya” even automatically as they leave is deeply frustrating
Like even if it’s just to specific characters, I’d be okay with it, V can be rude to store clerks I guess but to folks like Wilson or Viktor or Misty? Come on just lemme say so long!!
So, I'm looking at finally buying a car in the game. So far I think the biggest problem I have with the starter car is the brakes. Are there any good cars worth buying that can actually stop worth a damn?

I ended up chasing him for a bit and he ended up looping back to to a place with no witnesses. Not sure if that's scripted or just random.

Like I said, not something I personally have felt, but the conversation I was listening to that brought it up was interesting and a lot more nuanced than I'm giving it credit for in three lines.
Alright, that's fair enough, I'd need to hear it.
Yeah, I got some silencers from a shop, and my AR took one, but my two pistols got nothing... Maybe they just don't actually have slots, I was assuming there was a muzzle type for a specific gun or something.
EDIT: Screenshots really come out messed up with HDR enabled
I do this and have an SMG for when things get hairy. And a sniper rifle that shoots through walls when I want to be rude/something isn’t visible to the cameras.
Act 2 stuff (or Act 1? the act after the prologue/title screen)
Also earlier, the stuff at Clouds with the doll was great. Just a hushed conversation about confronting death and fear and all of that.
Oh great, now I have to go watch Torque again!

Chingatumadre, how'd that get in there, V? Hah!
Yeah so this is that funny bug I got at the end of act 1 mentioned in the post above.
THIS IS A MAJOR STORY SPOILER IT IS ONLY SAFE IF YOU ARE UP TO ACT 2.
Like, spoilers for a side collectible:
But I don’t know if that’s intentional or if the game is just bugging out!
There have also been dialogue scenes with Misty where I said something and the other person didn’t respond, but I was talking about something in the environment, looking at it, and in context the person doesn’t have to respond at all, but the fact is I don’t know if that’s intentional or another bug and I just didn’t get their dialogue to trigger!
It’s pretty frustrating!

Like even if it’s just to specific characters, I’d be okay with it, V can be rude to store clerks I guess but to folks like Wilson or Viktor or Misty? Come on just lemme say so long!!
