they arent in obvious financial short term difficulties, and they stand to benefit given how many units they sold by releasing paid dlc especially because theres such a hunger for fixes and expansion, which in turn makes it more likely they get some future sales. given how few big games there tend to be early in a console cycle i imagine they expect a good tail of sales from that too
Corpos: Yeah but do we really need all 100 of them? Can't we get by with 80?

They will get a humongous amount of flack if they try to push paid dlc.
But they seem to know that.
Also: failing to implement things you have promised isnt really an excuse. What you do, and I understand this is very logical so may be difficult for some PR people to grasp, is not promise features that are not currently working.

There will be paid DLC, but it's going to be a while from now. Like Blood and Wine/Hearts of Stone, i.e. a ton of single player curated stuff.

i think if they hard push out major fixes + 1-2 freelc as they have planned nobody will care if they drop a really major piece of diff looking new content paid for a la hearts of stone for w3
its conceivable they might still be in the dog house by then and just drop some of them free as a rep cleanser but internet short memory sometimes

Internet memory gets stuck on the most salient and memorable feature for a very long time.
Which is right now that its a steaming pos. Im not here to argue whether that is true or not. Its just what people are thinking right now. Our opinions are irrelevant on a fairly small forum.
I think they are not going to rely on the hope of internet goldfish memories.
(The reason it gets stuck is people drop the game while its bad and don't come back. )

If those numbers are true, the attitude I'm reading from the studio is "we know we did well, fuck those guys", which I'm seeing in an increasing number of studios.
Even metacritic/steam reviews look solid given the "controversy".
From the scuttlebutt of friends who have ZERO interest in gaming websites/reddit, the game ranges from "buggy" (on console) to "fucking amazing" (on PC). Digital Foundry said it really well: the average gamer has a pretty high tolerance for jank if they are having fun and lets be real, unless you are in Cherry Blossom Market or Kabuki the game performance is at worst "OK."
. . .also, from "True Shred Guitarist" to "Nightmare Walking, Psychopath Talkin'" -

Huh. Either a coincidence, or someone at CDPR loves early 1900s wrestling.
Stan Zbyszko is a fairly deep cut for a lot of wrestling fans, but he is fairly well known in his native Poland, so I'm going with the latter.
While he died 14 years before I was born, my maternal grandad was friends with Harley Race so I've heard some Stan and Wladek stories from someone that was trained by them.

Got problems for sure but still think its a great game.
I played Bethesda games on consoles religiously for years, this isn't my first rodeo with a buggy gem.

i think cp2077 is in a skyrim position - broadly its got enormous problems as a release title, but it scratches the "very nice looking expansive world to get lost in" thing that people kind of love
the areas that it really nails - presentation, sound, music, size of world etc - count for a surprisingly large number of people in an intuitive way. i think its in a good position for a turnaround so long as they act really fast and get ahead of the pr stuff by being open and stopping the bullshit
I honestly think this game got Molyneux'd at points, looking back.
No Man Sky'd also.
Some of what they said is unreal.
Every npc has their own daily life and schedule they follow.
That's a real thing they said.
How can you prove that isn't true?
I myself have observed many, many random NPCs literally walking back and forth ad infinitum on a small block of sidewalk. It was so real it hurt. Especially since I can't even go outside and walk back and forth on my favorite 6-foot stretch of sidewalk in front of the local Starbucks anymore thanks to COVID.
When Bender/Waka took a pistol out of his head instead of a chip, I am pretty sure any impact the scene was supposed to have was severely diminished by that bug.
Is there any explanation for why the in person vehicle view feels really bad? On bikes it feels like vastly more of the screen is taken up by the visor than there should be and there aren't stuff like being able to see out the back that feel like it should be pretty basic for any modern first person vehicles in modern games. I understand safety isn't a concern in the corporate hellworld future, but being able to see from the rearview mirror and sideview mirrors would probably help cars sell.
The one thing that makes me sad about gorilla arms is that they don't currently work for opening doors. Hope that is fixed because that's why i bought them.. But I guess I hope the breaking of interaction with the healing cyberware or ability to unequip them would be preferred for being fixed first.
That said using them to punh the shit out of dudes occasionally is extremely satisfying and i like the way they look.
I suspect that's a dropped feature and they just forgot to change the text. It makes no sense to give extra features to just one arm cyberware and completely invalidate an entire attribute.
Weridly, i hit a door where i had the gorilla arms on, didnt meet the body requirement, but was still able to rip it open with them.
This game is such a delightful trash fire, and i mean that seriously. it's SO janky, it curves around to amazing again. I really hope the devs can fi it up (And you know, over throw managment) because there's a real gem buried in here.
yeah i gotta say the frame rate's been really good, mind you i turned off bullshit like motion blur.
Also the lack of loading times is kind of amazing.

You sit far lower in a car than most people do is maybe the answer? You also have no peripheral vision.
Interior views from a car game as an example will tend to have you high enough that you can just barely see the top of the wheel and dash. In this half the screen is dash and you can’t fix it.
Motorcycles aren’t bad since you can just look up a bit to regain a proper sight line
Decided to make a Johnny Silverhand build - pistols, health regen mid combat and maybe cold blood.
Well, turns out the core skill of the Body / athletics tree - health regen in combat - doesn't work at-fucking-all for anyone. At best reports have it working for the first combat after booting the game, specifically on normal difficulty and no others.
Brutal. Got this build to level 6, like 4 hours or something. Kinda' wanna just go back to my hacker.
My original katana character is 20 reflexes 20 cool, but she's also cleared the map.
Oh well.
Might be back to Overwatch time.

Shion m72 and the quadra turbo vtec are easier to drive in first person for that reason , much easier to see. Shion is cheap and the Quadra is a side quest reward( it’s the car from the trailer)

Bugs aside, main problem with the game is that the perk system is fairly invisible. Aside from like a +30% to damage here or there, I couldn't tell you if any of the perks actually were doing anything. Cold Blooded is the worst of the lot, with stand outs giving "+2.5% resistances per stack". I don't even know what a resistance is, and I've been playing for 30 hours.
Melee combat is fairly annoying, with heavy attacks constantly locking you into the SINGLE death animation on every kill. SMGs feel awful, smart rifles are tolerable, and hand guns feel super OP. Mostly just running around with the mono wire, tearing off arms and decapitating folks, solely because they don't have a sync kill animation.
The driving feels like it was developed by someone who had only ever seen a car once, in passing. I also feel like I end up driving about three times as much as I actually fight anything, which is sad seeing as it's easily my least favorite part of the game.
Past that I've been enjoying myself. I'd like it if they reworked perks a bit, and made the weapons feel more impactful. Get rid of the sync kills for melee weapons, or make them only happen once ever 20 kills or something. Not sure what they could do about driving, save for a total overhaul.
Still upset I can't punch through walls with 20 strength and completely filled out cyberware. Oh, and cyberware feels SUPER glossed over; it's like the whole point of the setting! And there's only like three interesting pieces of it!
edit: Oh, if anyone is having issues with FPS, make sure to run DLSS or Static Fidelity FX CAS (setting it to 90 does wonders). I'm running on high at 3840x1200 (in between 1440p and 4k), and still getting 50+ fps outdoors with an RX 5700.

yeah cyberware needs a massive horizontal expansion
tho to be frank the system is kind of designed for exactly that approach
just add a few new bits every couple patches and rebalance the existing cyberware so theres more meaningful choice eg make the projectile launcher even vaguely work right
the saddest thing about the proj launcher is that it has chemical rounds electric rounds incendiary rounds explosive rounds and they all have the same fx
even the tranq rounds! they fucking explode like a grenade!

There wre some really odd perk choices for sure.
90% of the blocking ones in melee trees arent even remotely worth it.
Maybe if you could block bullets somehow but the few melee enemies you do run into, you're better off burning them down quickly with a few fast or strong attacks rather than standing around waiting to block a hit.
I do like the Akira bike, but my favorite ride is a 6 wheel (4 front, 2 back) Gold Jesusy Pimpmobile you can lift from one of the Valentinos.
I think it looks like a cheap RC car my stepbrother had when we were growing up but my favorite car to drive has been the "Coyote" Shion. It has much better traction than other cars I've tried. It'll still oversteer on KBAM a lot but I can actually correct it and resume going at a high speed. Plus it's handy for going off-roading as a Nomad modded car. I'll need to compare it to the Javelina at some point as that's another higher end Nomad car.
Did anyone go back to save Takamura during the MaxTac rescue of Hanako? Both my brothers and my friend didn't realize you could go back up and get him. I immediately said fuck you Johnny and went back up. I'm assuming most people didn't realize because Johnny explicitly tells you to run.

I did
Explicitly because Johnny told me to run. I was full all-in on contrarian asshole mode with Johnny still at that time.

I knew it was possible to save him going in, but I honestly had a hell of a time finding the path to him.

Yeah...like they have all these perks based around parrying and not only is it rare to even get the opportunity the system is so finicky you probably shouldn't even bother.
But perks tree balance is all over the place. Some of these really could have been combined or removed entirely.
