I think a lot of people did around then. From what I remember this season has some definite bad stuff but I actually liked the main arc pretty well. I think Crowley works well in his role and Kevin Tran is a solid addition.

I've also just remembered that Kevin's mom is played by Lauren Tom, who played Amy on Futurama.

What I definitely did not remember is that there's an episode in which Sam Winchester briefly wields Mjolnir.

Second episode of the season. Which means if you ever decide to catch up there's almost a full 8 seasons you haven't seen!

Edit: On what I'm pretty sure was the bad side of the season, there's a subplot involving flashbacks to a girlfriend Sam had between seasons and they just did a flashback that was all bright and sunny with her smiling and having a picnic

and it really just brings to mind that one early episode of South Park where one of the teachers (I think?) had a lost love and they kept showing those live-action first-person flashbacks to that lady telling him how happy she is

I imagine that talking someone into watching 15 seasons of a genre show, the quality of which is a very mixed bag, is quite a feat. But if anyone could pull it off, I bet it'd be you!

I was watching the first season with my ex-roommate but our pace was very slow.

We only really watched it when our other roommate, my best friend, was out of the house because he can't tolerate any piece of media involving possession.

And, well, possession is like half of Supernatural's episodes.

As with almost every SNL sketch ever put to air, they came up with an idea that was a good joke for about a minute, then dragged it out WAY too long.

well for me it's mostly wiig but I don't think hill is bored, I think he's doing what's required of him for the bit and it works for me. it might be that you have to be at least a little familiar with liza minelli's work for this whole bit to work.

I dunno, one of the first links I hit for commentary touts that the unfamiliarity with Liza is a selling point

But I think it's good to know that this is most likely a difference of subjective taste rather than me missing the point

Much of SNL's most talented alumni weren't all that great on the show. I'm not sure Chris Rock has a single sketch worth remembering and although Will Ferrell was certainly popular, I personally didn't care much for his sketches.

I mean in a show like snl, where it is a large volume of tv in a short turn around, it’s never unsurprising that most of it is bad. But you watch snl for those little moments that are funny, because when they get that lightning in a bottle it lights up, but even when it isn’t, it can be exciting because lightning could come next.

In the 90‘s there was sketch show in Australia that ran for three seasons and they had a best of DVD, it’s only two hours long, because over those three seasons, most of it was stupid! But when it was funny (and since it was the 90's not racist or homophobic) it was very funny.
