My wife and I watched the new Animaniacs on Hulu over the holidays.

The design for most human characters seemed a lot more...I don't know, Ren & Stimpy-ish than I remember.

Also, was there ever a reason given as to why they jettisoned most of the cast (outside of a cameo here or there)?

Now that HBO Max is a thing, I wonder if the show will survive past it's original 2-season contract?

They said they wanted to do their own characters and then uh made like 3 that only appear once each

I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

I guess I assumed they looked at most of the cast and said to themselves "is this really funny enough to keep doing?" and decided no. The only peripheral characters I'll miss are the Goodpigeons and honestly that's mostly out of nostalgia. If I never see Mindy and Buttons again it'll be too soon.

I would have definitely kept Goodfeathers, Slappy, Rita & Runt, and Good Idea/Bad Idea.
Also I really have to doubt Yakko's claim that Chicken Boo was the most unpopular character. Lower than Katy Kaboom and the Hip Hippos? Not to mention I thought Mindy was pretty universally hated.
They said they wanted to do their own characters and then uh made like 3 that only appear once each

The new CEO and the Olympics guy got multiple appearances, but otherwise I struggle to think of anyone that didn't seem like a one-off gag character. Heck, I even thought that's what the Olympic guy was until he showed up a second time (though I did notice he appears in the new HD intro).

Also the alien sketch serious just seemed like a weird cross between Elmyra with Buttons & Mindy. I think they even named the girl Cindy.

it actually looks like a really sad story, in general. The doctors told him to come because she was probably not going to make it past the day. They had some final words, and then she lost consciousness, and he thought she had passed, got so upset that he left the hospital without seeing the outcome of the doctors coming in.

Then he got word that she was not dead, and now she did actually die. So he basically got to experience that twice in the span of two days.

Clancy Brown’s best role is as Swamp Thing in Con Air.

On a completely unrelated note MC Gainey’s best role was in Highlander

It wouldn’t even require any special effects!!

I once heard a take that friends is beloved because it expressed the aspirational idea of being a part of a closely knit friend group that has time for each other.

The office is like the sadder version of that.

Kinda like how the Simpsons was supposed to represent a middle class family and now the idea of having a house, two cars and three kids on a single income is fantasy.

But yeah, it's a good move. I have a friend who I swear rewatches the Office at least once a year.

At the free tier, you can have The Office Season 1 and 9, Parks & Rec season 1, the last season of Scrubs, and It's Always Sunny season 1. At the paid tier, we will remove those and give you all the other ones.

I have The Office on DVD so I’m good

Well at least the first 7 seasons, and let’s face it seasons 8 and 9 are pretty extraneous anyway. The only bits I care about from those seasons are the last 3 or so episodes.
