    Sam's daughter (Tatianna Maslany) steps into the quantum accelerator to go looking for her father (doesn't matter if she actually finds him but a guest spot might be nice before parting ways again).

    Done.

    Don't turn it into a police procedural, or give it an edgy makeover, or make any of the decisions CW would. Just do the above.

    just ... reboot it. Dr. Samantha Beckett works just as well. I can't really articulate them, but I see some unfortunate implications in "daughter looks for dad using the machine he invented"

    you could put Scott Bakula in there as some cameo in the first episode, I guess

    Wasn't there a show with a horrible #title or some other 'online' name that actually got better a few episodes in? But the name was so horrible nobody watched it.

    I used to think, "Maybe a Xena reboot would be good!" but then I listened to Javier Grillo-Marxuach talk about the Xena reboot they were trying to get made and holy shit...

    I do honestly wonder what older TV shows structured around being episodic/syndicated would look like nowadays where every show is more-or-less about a seasonal arc.

    Episodic stuff does really, really well on streaming - repeat viewers, big numbers, and (typically) larger catalogs. I figure at SOME point execs will realize where the big money is and go chasing it again.

    I am far more likely to go rewatch an episode of TV that is relatively isolated from a greater narrative.

    Its why Supernatural's best episode, Scoobynatural, works so well!

    I'm so glad I gave it a try, based on the name and previews I was sure I was going to hate it.

    I should have had more faith in John Cho, though he was already the only reason I gave it a shot

    two other notes on this re-watch of Person of Interest
    - starting immediately after "Dead Reckoning", there are blink-and-you'll-miss-'em BSODs in the interstitials, a hint that the virus is targeting the machine.
    - "Relevance" is easily one of my favorite episodes.
    - - the episode starts with the intro being interrupted;
    - - the interstitial style changes for the relevant number;
    - - and finally the episode is firmly from Shaw's perspective. This last is very important, because Shaw is the best.
