CBC has a nice story today on a Sesame Street-esque show run by an indigenous Mohawk community in an effort to keep the Kanien:kéha language from dying out by introducing it to young kids
Seems it's helping to communicate their culture while also promoting use of the language at home!
I'm gonna say, if that kid is as dumb as I was at his age, he may have just been doing it to "fit in" and be seen as cool.
But also fuck that, because intent doesn't matter for that kind of thing. These are people celebrating his taking of a human life, and even if he's just trying to be seen as cool, it's monstrous. I'm of mixed minds about how they should deal with him because of Covid, but I'd imagine being held in jail or holding until his trial is reasonable at this point.
