Bad cops cross with bad agent

God that's so fucking stressful. There are a lot of problems with police that are inherent to the idea or go way back but I don't understand how basically in my lifetime they've been allowed to turn into these incredibly paranoid lunatics that believe that every interaction with the public has their life on the line.

They're as vulnerable to Fear Culture as anyone else, I guess

It's more than that. David Grossman is a figure that looms large over modern policing. His "Killology Research Group" has since like the 90's been working to instill a culture of othering and dehumanizing that has alter the already racist, cruel and abusive police system. He teaches them to be afraid of any interaction with the public. That any situation could turn into a deadly encounter. That police before where too unwilling to kill and that this valuing of human life caused a lot of cops to die. He teaches that There are only two kinds of people. The sheep and the wolves. That cops are the sheepdogs protecting the sheep.

In short he is a fucking lunatic and has made cops worse in every way.

Actual video of Grossman giving one of his "training" talks.

There are more in the thread. He is a monster who works very hard to create more monsters.

What gets me about the mall image passed around is that the white teen has the police woman is pratically cuddling in his lap.

Video doesnt show that but she was basically tender with him before jumping down and putting a knee to the other teen

Yeah she sat him down and basically made sure he didn't need medical attention

Then saw her partner physically assaulting a black kid and didn't want to miss out.

    Fucked ALL up

Here me out...this might be a radical idea... but seeing as people in and recently out of prison pay taxes.... they should not be forbidden from voting?

Taxes shouldn't have anything to do with whether or not you're able to vote.

The only things that should matter are:
    1. You're a citizen of the country.
    2. You're old enough.

If those conditions are met, you should be able to vote.

    From those tweets on Grossman:
Dave Grossman teaches police they are “the royalty of this land,” “the nobility,” “the samurai” administering justice with the sword.

The samurai class was gradually abolished by the Japanese government because having feudal nobilty with so much individual authority above the law was very much on the way of actually running a country with a modern police and military forces.

Which says it all, doesn't it?

(And for not wanting to be on the hook for all the government stipends they got, but still).

The samurai comparison is actually kind of app because people want to praise all the kickass isolated moment and ignore the numerous assholes those legends had to kill

I thought this many times but it's rather appropriate that every samurai, wuxia, cowboy story, and everything else in that vein typically involve corrupt law men or corrupt governments.

The samurai were also bureaucrats for far longer in their historical legacy than they were warriors. They were also, from my understanding, the most corrupt caste in human history. Someone can correct me if that's wrong, of course.

So, yeah, comparing cops to samurai seems pretty accurate.

I'm not sure about *most* corrupt (not sure how you would directly compare that) but yes they were absolutely crazy corrupt and rarely (if ever) actually lived by the ethos that they were happy to let people attribute to them

so yes samurai were 100% cops (sadly the people who decided to get rid of them were also cops, so they were enshrined as anti-cops as the years went on)

I just know that the pokemon move "Night Slash" is named after a Japanese idiom roughly meaning "crossroads killing" referring to samurai who would lay in wait and cut down random passerbys in order to test the sharpness of their blade
TsujigiriTsujigiri (辻斬り or 辻斬 tsuji-giri, literally 'crossroads killing') is a Japanese term for a practice when a samurai, after receiving a new katana sword or developing a new fighting style or weapon, tests its effectiveness by attacking a human opponent, usually a random defenseless passer-by, in many cases during nighttime.

Major thing to remember with samurai, like cowboys, is that a lot of the cultural dogma about them was written way after the fact. I don't have the numbers with me right now but I'm pretty sure the bushido code was written in a completely different Imperial Imperial era compared to their heyday.

But focusing on cowboys, Consider how many stories focused on Gun battles versus shitting yourself to death, alone and miles away from friends and family

    TW

Multiple people have been shot at normandale park. Tonight there was supposed to be a protest in portland to honor Amir Locke. The shots were fired at the meet up location before the march even took off. More info to come. Plz check on your comrades

Medics and motorcade seemed targeted. Not confirmed, but I’m told 6 were shot and 1 possible death.

Samurai were tools of the landed gentry, with all the bullshit that comes with that system, and were as fond of buying their own hype and sniffing their own farts as pretty much anybody else who was ever in a position of power in such a system anywhere in the world.

And now that I think about it, the honor hype was a bunch of bullshit, considering day betrayed their brothers and their lords constantly. Hell, Japan turned out the way it did because of all the betraying.

Ninjas, surprisingly, were loyal even when it was a pain in the ass.

Need to watch cowboy movies that deconstruct the cowboy myth.

Well, in a change of pace, here’s a story about a “corrupt” cop getting fired.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/fort-lauderdale-police-chief-larry-scirotto-fired-over-minority-first-practices-in-hiring-and-promotions-report-says/ar-AAUFF78?ocid=NL_ENUS_A1_00010101_1_1&bep_ref=1&bep_csid=43728

    Some excerpts:

The investigation concluded that during his time as police chief, Scirotto implemented an approach to hiring and promotion that was unfairly focused on minority candidates.

The report said Scirotto once pointed to a conference room wall displaying photos of the department's command staff and stated, "that wall is too white," and "I'm gonna change that."

Scirotto told CNN he promoted 15 people from August to November, and of that group, six were ethnic or gender minorities selected for promotions based on their merit.

"None of them were promoted because they were in a protected class," he said. "They were promoted because they were the best candidates."

Scirotto also provided WFOR with what he said was context for his comments about the wall being "too white."

"The bottom row had several white males and one white female. And we're talking in conversation as it relates to our community and the expectation of a diverse and inclusive organization. And how do I purport we have that when the entire bottom row are white men?" Scirotto told WFOR.

Ah, see… they sure can clean up the force when they want to.

You see, while Fort Lauderdale has a 32% Black population, only 15% of the police force there is Black.

So expecting a ratio of officers being promoted based on the demographics of the general population is just unrealistic. [/sarcasm]

(I can't find the statistics on the percentage of White police officers in Fort Lauderdale, but I assume it's higher than the general demographics in Fort Lauderdale, too.)

I sympathize with all fast food retailers. Once, a customer tried to tip a coffee machine onto me, spilling hot coffee all over, and sending glass coffee pots to the floor. Thankfully, no burns, much to my amazement. This being the midnight shift, I called the cops so that I would have a report for any damages for management. I was giving a statement to the cops, when the morning manager came in, looked at the puddle of coffee and broken glass, then the cop and said to me, ‘You’re gonna clean that up, right?’

Quite possibly the rare instance where the presence of a cop PREVENTED a murder.
