NBC just called the 2nd GA Senate seat for Ossof.

I don't know if that'll make things worse, but it sure as shit won't make them better right now.

Trump says go home, but prefaces it by saying the election is still stolen by all of us terrible people.

    Nothing. Matters.

I mean the furor of this today is almost certainly in part because it was everywhere in the news this morning that Warnock had won and Ossof was leading by a comfortable margin with largely votes from blue counties left, so we're heading into full Dem control of the Legislative and Executive.

I have to imagine that's part of what's driven the fascists into such a last-ditch frenzy.

He's an elderly white man who will see absolutely no consequences for enabling this horseshit, even though it's what he's been building to for the majority, if not the entirety, of his political career.

I guarantee you that he does not give a shit, so long as he can cling to power for as long as he can.

based on the cpr being applied to the bleeding woman on a stretcher, she is very likely dead

    wow what

    I missed this what happened?

If it was in reference to the video posted above, the woman in question was not receiving cpr during the video

photos on the second page of the thread

Oh yeah she looks like she's intubated and getting bad compressions because whoever is carting her out doesn't want the crowd to figure out she's dead dead.

I literally can't imagine her surviving if she was in cardiac arrest prior to their arrival.

Mitch McConnell don't give a fuck. Mitch McConnell knows that he's like in the top five people in government in terms of protection. He was never gonna be in real danger. Mitch McConnell is upset because he thinks this looks terrible, because it does, in fact, look fucking terrible.

I mean I do think Mitch McConnell is pissed off about all of this, he was already trying to divest the party from Trump. But he's pissed because it makes his life more difficult, not because of any fear for anyone's safety.

This has been a surreal and horrifying day. I started off with the attitude of "well all those folks out there are idiots and/or jackasses but I'm very pro-right-to-protest so long as they just act rowdy I'll be pissed but I'll have to get over it", but I would never have imagined it would have gotten that bad so quick.

I hope it's a wake-up call, but I fear that a lot of people are gonna have conveniently short memories about this. Don't promote fucking fascist idealogy. Don't peddle stupid violent conspiracy theories. Don't let other people do it. All those congresspeople and senators almost got mobbed by the very people they've refused to call out our stand up to in the past. It's just, damn. Learn something from this shit please.

No. There are people and ideas that don't need to be entertained. The 1st amendment ends as soon as it infringes on anyone else's rights.

I guess when we literally start having putsch attempts you're right. I just don't trust the state to enforce it in a good manner, because they almost never do.

Yeah he wants to rock the boat just enough that he can grift and hold the country hostage for his own gain.

But what he failed to realize is that rocking the boat at all runs the risk of capsizing it in turbulent waters like these.

I believe the Republican members of Congress who have incited this domestic terror attack through their attempts to overturn the election must face consequences. They have broken their sacred Oath of Office.

I will be introducing a resolution calling for their expulsion.

Who commands the DC National Guard?

This authority to activate the D.C. National Guard has been delegated, by the President, to the Secretary of Defense and further delegated to the Secretary of the Army. The D.C. National Guard is the only National Guard unit, out of all of the 54 states and territories, which reports only to the President.

Now sure seems like a great time for dems to come out and officially say they're going to push for DC statehood.

As much as the coverage makes it look like the entire country is being torn apart by mobs, it's really just DC and a few state capital buildings. Which is not, like, not scary, but the vast majority of us aren't in any danger.

A lot of people have spent years or decades trying to fix things and loads more are just caught in the middle and to just say "no we all deserve this" is extremely fucked, mate.

There's an armed crowd gathering at my states capitol, which if it weren't for the tall buildings between it and my school I'd be able to see (barely, but still) and I don't currently feel unsafe.

I might leave work a bit early, but more to avoid the possibility of blocked highways than because I feel unsafe.

The sentiment is still appreciated though Corvus. Which is also the name of one of my cats, btw.

I'm aware, but 70 million of your fellow citizens voted for Trump, and while many of those voters aren't this extreme, there are obviously enough of them, with the complicity of the state to put people in danger. And I'm sure there are forumers living in DC and the state capitals.

Yeah for sure, I definitely appreciate the sentiment even though I don't currently need it. Solidarity is good when shit like this happens, helps with the feeling of impending doom.

The day is far from over and there's been instances happening in other cities in the country after news broke of the terrorists storming the US Capitol. They've been inspired elsewhere in the country to act and there's plenty of time left to see who else does what other shitty things.

I am drawing up Articles of Impeachment.

Donald J. Trump should be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate.

We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath.

So far there is zero action around the Oklahoma State Capitol, presumably because all the local Proud Boys already work there.
