We are so, so, so fucking lucky that last week wasn't hugely worse than it was.
Yeah, it felt kind of on a knife edge at times. A little more public support from the GOP would have been bad. I've heard a few people talking about the (admittedly seriously hypothetical) scenario of Trump actually going there in person with the crowd like he'd been claiming he wanted to do. If he was actually present and egging on a crowd with our-glorious-leader-leads-us-in-battle mentalities already in place I suspect dislodging them would be a much bigger mess than it was.

Most of the GOP looks like they were in the dark on whatever plans there were, which helped immensely since they were scared and made a lot of noise calling Trump our rather than supporting him.

Were we, though? I feel like any sedition small enough for the right to ignore just increases tolerance for the next. I don't think we'll know if we were lucky until we see how impeachment fares.

I agree that it could have been much worse. I fear it has enabled much worse, which makes it hard for me to embrace that silver lining.

It can't be allowed to be ignored. It needs to be destroyed, ground into dust, and if "the right" (fasicst enablers) don't want to do it, it's on everyone else.
Motherfuckers banged the benghazi drum for years. I'm content with them never hearing the end to this, as long as it is in any way a danger

But man, I'm going to have a freakout.

Explains why some are railing against the metal detectors, probably. They are part of the fascist coupists
