Lantern Festival part 3 aka "You're gonna use our clock mechanics God damn it. We didn't program them for nothing!"
All that clock fiddling just makes me yearn for a RPG with proper day and night cycle with dark nights. I know GI is never going have them but man can dream.
Dragon's Dogma had proper "you can't see shit" dark nights.
One of the many reasons why I loved Dragon's Dogma so much.

STALKER games too. The old Everquest 1 had fairly dark nights but most races had some sort of darkvision to counter that. I always remember grinding xp with somebody playing a human who had to stop every time night fell because he couldn't see anything any more. It was amusing at first but got really boring really fast.

Stalker nights felt like going for a walk on the farm at night as a kid. It was two hours from the nearest town. There was no light pollution. You only had moonlight and if there was no moon, you had nothing. It was super nostalgic.
Only unlike my child hood fears, the dark in Stalker really did have monsters trying to eat me.

So I'm working Xiao into my Abyss teams and in general he destroys stuff, which is great. I'm finding that Barbara is a great healer for him generally, since the trickle heal from her E matches his hp drain pretty well. However, Barbara really sucks on current floor 11. Even if I switch to her full-time, her energy gen is just too slow to overcome the drain on the floor so her only burst heal is the c6 trigger every 15 minutes (which is great when it works, but not something to base a team on). I know Diona should be pretty good on floor 11, but I'm finding that her heal isn't good enough to keep up with Xiao (or I just suck at dodging) and then I just end up with Xiao sitting at 10%hp on the bench unusable.
Also, I'll just say once again for the record that I really don't like floor 11 in general. My playstyle tends to focus around spamming ultimates, and nothing is more frustrating than seeing the ultimate light up and then having it disappear before I can hit the button.

I mean yes but I played Mystic Knight, so when you shoot out 4 cannons worth of firebolts into the dark every swing, it lights up real fast.

Quick question - does the PC version have key binding for controllers yet?
I tried the game out a few months ago and the default controls never clicked even after a few days. The confirm/cancel buttons being backwards from most (US) games never ceased to fuck with me.
I got Skyward Blade the other day after accidentally spending a single fate in the Weapon Banner.
Got it leveled up today and gave it to Kaeya (in place of Festering Desire). They, uh, maybe undersell the effects of its special perk? Feel like Kaeya’s discovered his inner Sonic the Hedgehog.
So, for this lantern event on the web page, is there any relation to the wish you select and the lantern that is freed?
I was needing the lotus lantern, and selected the wish about finding old friends again. The lantern itself is "reunion" themed.

Yes, you can rebind the controls and swap confirm and cancel. I think that was a... 1.1 thing? 1.2 thing?
Note that this will mess you up in the spiral abyss when you're frantically auto-attacking to get in under par time and as a result mash cancel on the results screen, but it's a small price to pay.

Or is it just a coincidence?
Just a concidence. I've seen different lanterns come up for the same wish on successive days.

Weird, when I googled it, somewhat recent articles acted like you couldn't.
Probably missed out on a ton of stuff by not playing.
So I'm pretty confident in saying that my strongest team is actually on my alt account now. My main account definitely has more good options overall, but holy christ. Now that I've got Ningguang at C2, her talents properly leveled, and the Skyward Atlas up to level 90, the team of her/Albedo/Zhongli is absolutely monstrous. They just tear through anything that isn't completely immune to geo. Obviously areas and enemies that immediately destroy geo structures are a problem, although enemies that do it aren't as problematic as you'd think. I just gotta be more careful about positioning Albedo's field, and re-apply it more frequently.
Of course, the problem is that my other teams also want Albedo and Zhongli, so my teams suffer in the abyss.

What.
On ps4 attack is cancel. You get no choice in the matter.

Last I checked you can alter the combat controls. the menu controls are locked, as normal spamming attack would skip to next stage for example.

Oh jeez, yes. It took me a while to figure out what the hell was going on. Now I try not to mash on the final enemy, but sometimes... At least you don't lose progress... but the load times on PS4...
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
Just play on the iPad and bask in the input latency! “Did I tell you to start climbing that crate? I did not! Get over there and ...no, don’t use your ultimate on that single slime!” headdesk.
It’s actually not terrible but I do wonder what it would be like to play with a controller instead.
Apparently mobile users can just hit the burst icon next to the character that lets you know they have their burst, and it'll automatically switch to them and use the burst? I'd kill for that feature on controller. I've gotten used to hitting a direction and then triangle. But you can't switch characters in the middle of an attack, so sometimes I'll do the inputs but not switch and then use the current character's boost, which is something I didn't want to do. It's not a big deal or anything, just something I need to be aware of.

I could swear I read somewhere that on PC you can hold down a button when switching character and instantly use the burst. But I might be mixing it up with the feature on mobile.

Huh you can change the controls. More fool me for saying that without ever looking. So few games on console let you modify controls I just assumed this wouldn't too.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure that was a patch 1.2 addition. It sure wasn't there at launch, I know that.

... apparently we'll all miss out on KFC-themed Diluc and Noelle skins by not playing in China???
12 hours until I burn a bunch of primos on not getting the Staff of Homa. In a weird hope/dread mix at the moment. I hope I get it in a few rolls so I save enough to go for Hu Tao, but I'm realistically expecting to get a couple of other 5* and blow out my stash without getting Homa or having anything left for Hu Tao. Trying to convince myself I have too many characters to level and I don't really need Hu Tao...

I have enough pulls to hit the full... 70 pulls I think for pity (I know the threshold is less than the other banners)? I figure one of three scenarios happen, all of which I'm OK with.
-I get the Staff of Horna. Yippie kay yay.
-I get the Wolf's Gravestone, which will give me the excuse to actually level up a claymore user (probably Razor... but dammit if I don't really like Xinyan)
-Of the remaining possible 5*'s to get, I have Jean and Aquila Favonia. It would be kind of a bummer to hit either of those again, but I could live with it. Any of the other characters or weapons? I'd be OK with that too. It's a 75% chance for the first pity to be a weapon, so this is overall a 25% chance, plus whatever odds of hitting Jean/Aquila. I just think it's important to work out what the worst case scenario would be, just in case I hit those reverse odds.
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
I don't think you can get 5* characters off the weapon banner; as I understand it, its 37.5% chance of Staff of Homa, 37.5% chance WGS, 25% chance another 5* weapon. If it hits the other 5* weapon, then your next one is 50/50 SoH or WGS, but no guarantee you will get one or the other (so in theory you can roll forever and not get a SoH). I couldn't find it explicitly in a quick Google search, but I did find this small data set of 26 5* pulls off the weapon banner and zero 5* characters which seems unlikely to be chance.
In other news, I was doing bounties for cash and noticed I finally rolled over to 100% Liyue completion! Must have picked up a random chest or two while I wasn't paying attention. Slightly related: bounties weak to plunging damage are hilarious with Xiao. Two-shotted the poor Stonehide Lavachurl with back to back 127k crits, unbuffed no Bennett or food lol.
Yeah wiki says weapon banner can't give you a 5* character, just 5* weapons and 4* weapons/characters (and 3* junk). My only 5* weapon is a R2 Skyward Blade so if I try pulling on the weapon banner I'll probably get a third of those. :P
+1

I want staff of Homa but we don't have anywhere near enough gems for pulling on weapon banners and you all know how crazy I am about gems I do everything that has gems even if I hate it.

I finished off the BP and finally decided to choose the polearm since it was the only one I might get benefit from. A lack of good spears was a real thing for me.
Hit AR55 last night. The single wish from that gave my Skyward Spine. Lulz.
I wasn't really planning on rolling for weapons, but there are no characters I really want in the immediate future, and I figured I might get one of the Lithic weapons.
What ended up happening was 3 x 10 rolls, with that being the last one.
The other two got me the Lithic spear, and a Razor constellation. So, yeah.

I thought it was just a glider skin, it's not like they are doing character skins just yet.
The rumor mill seems undecided on the matter, which doesn't exactly reduce the confusion.
What, don't you want all your characters to look like fried chicken pieces and/or colonels?
Only if I can run the game on my KFConsole.
