Poetics are mainly used for purchasing 50/60/70 gear(e.g. Ironworks), they are the highest ilvl gear you can get until most of the way into the next expansion. They are intentionally plentiful so there's no reason to save them, plus you can't unlock the level 60/70 gear vendors until you complete the HW/SB stories anyway.

And for additional clarity, level x6 is where the Poetics gear of the previous expansion is not as good as the dungeon drops or vendor gear anymore.
Good news is I was finally able to make a character on Sargatanas. Bad news is I have to start over
Anyone able to throw me an invite, or do I have to be lucky enough to stumble across someone with the <GHOST> tag? Character name is Ender Brash
I've always done it by clicking on someone, it usually doesn't take too many sessions before you see someone
You can also apply at the placard outside the FC house in Mist (I don't remember the exact ward it's in though)... assuming you don't see someone in the vicinity as there's often someone AFK at the market board or running around (since housing is cheaper to warp to and it's right by a market board, etc)
I am level 54, and just came across a new vendor in Gridania who sells items for Allegan Tomestone of Poetics. I have 600 Tomestones, which is the exact cost of an Ironworks Gear weapon (IL 130) which is a huge upgrade over my dungeon drop one. Should I buy this? Or is this one of those situations where if I do I'll regret wasting the Tomestones later on?
Edit: Thanks for the quick responses, I bought it and burst out laughing at how stupid it looked. But then I thought that maybe it animated like the mining pick when you used it? Sure enough it flips out into blades and glows like a Tron prop Excellent.
I spent some extra time grinding out a full set of Ironworks and it was well worth it
Flying.... So far I'm not a fan. I mean it's very convenient and I won't be able to not do it, but I don't feel like I'm in the world anymore. It's just port in, fly to the quest, drop down on it, repeat. The world seems a lot smaller and less interesting all of a sudden.

Yeah, that’s the cost of flying in MMOs. In the expansions you won’t get flying until you’ve thoroughly explored the zones, at which point it feels like a reward for your efforts.
In general I think of flying in MMOs as a necessary cost.
Fun fact about flying, if you're on a multi-seat mount the passengers don't need to have flying unlocked in order for the driver to fly. This is super helpful when you're helping other players find the world flying nodes after you've unlocked flying for a zone.

Yay! I am back in the world!
...and when you are done with that; take a folding
chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
Theres a lot of zones that flying is not enabled in, usually end game zones for expansions like Eureka, Bozja, Zadnor, etc. I just wish the zones that flying WASN'T enabled in were more interesting visually to travel through. The ShB endgame stuff is very samey warzone craters and nothing else as far as the eye can see kinda aesthetic.

I felt really stupid last night when I found out that the reason some people had Chocobos that were bigger than mine was due to them scaling to player size, not that they had a different, larger Chocobo mount.

But the mount scaling is one of the major advantages of Lalafels!

Frankly the best mounts are the ones that don't scale.
How exactly do I fit inside the tank in flight mode? Nobody knows.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Excuse me but I cannot stand idly by and watch so many people play characters that are obviously missing knees but somehow still manage to amble along.
I have had one of the best day's gaming for years. Had the whole day to myself and have been hitting what I assume are the max level ARR questlines and instances (I thought I was in Heavensward content as the quests quality seemed to really pick up, but apparently that's still a bit away). Some really memorable quests, some great boss fights. A bit of a wait for some trials and instances, but that's what being a dps is about.
These guy's quests had me cracking up. Still more to come from them as last I saw them there was still a thief to catch. When we got to the dance I died.
This was super creepy and quite a surprise.
And thank you writers for addressing the thing I was talking about awhile ago about the beastmen and how they were getting pushed around. The fact she was talking to herself gave me chills.

Only the first earring did, it was quickly rectified in other expansion earrings to explicitly state not for crafting xp. So the Endwalker one does not.

However, the exp on the crafting beastman dailies for Heavensward and Stormblood have been boosted so much that you can gain a level doing the three quests per day. Don't know if the ARR Ixal quests have also been boosted, but the ARR crafting leves got me pretty much to 50, at which point I switched to using the moogle and namzu dailies(since the beast tribe quests provide the ingredients for you, so you don't have to spend time and resources sourcing things like you do with leves).
I have been leveling all of the Crafting jobs with beast tribe dailies. Mainly because it is nice only having one set of gear in my Armory Chest that is for crafting and one set that is for Gathering. If I had been leveling only one job while getting Moogle Rep I would have reached level 60 and been getting only 10k experience into that job per quest for most of that experience. (I wanted to level up Moogle Rep because I wanted the dance.)
As of now I am at 74 or 75 with all of the crafting Jobs and only a few days away from maxing rep with the ShB Crafting faction. I also added the custom deliveries to my weekly grind, but those are worth less experience and only good for 12 turn ins a week. (Up to 6 per Client.) I did that because I needed some Crafting Scrips to buy mastery 3 books for some of the Job quests and have decided to just learn all of the mastery books.
I also have a bunch of quests available at one of the hub cities for ShB that I have been putting off for now since it seems like I will have to get the materials for crafting those items myself.
The quests in the hub city are your storyline crafting quests. Instead of making storylines for each crafting job, they combined them. IIRC, I think it's carpenter/leatherworker/weaver, blacksmith/goldsmith/armourer, alchemist/culinarian, botanist/miner, and fishing.
I've only gotten the gathering quest chains completed, but those were easier. The crafting ones do require sourcing the materials a little, but for the most part they're available in the ShB areas, or you can get them from the shops in the areas that deal in the things you get for doing FATEs in the ShB areas(crystal exchange? I forget). The stories are fun, and you get some extra exp if you can turn in HQ stuff, though I never tried to HQ anything. Just crafted enough for a quick turn in and on to the next quest.

There's a capstone for clearing all 5, but it's just a title reward iirc.
I might actually take a relic or two past the first glowy stage (500?) now that it's not such a terrible grind. I was wishing the weekly item limit on the third Nier raid had been dropped, but I'll gladly take the raised limit on Tomestones for the time being.

Decided to do 6 runs on Saturday. Well that was a waste of time but at least I only need 3 more runs now.
My Black Mage combat gameplan so far has been pretty basic:
10 CAST SLEEP ON MONSTER
20 RUN AWAY
30 THROW FLAMES AT MONSTER UNTIL IT GETS CLOSE
40 GOTO 10
So far it's worked out pretty well.
