So, with the anouncment of Oceanic Servers, Bunny Boi's and some RL Friends being interested in the game, I've basically decided to start a new main when those servers go live.
I bring that up here cause I've been contemplating doing a "cannon" run through the story - trying to make sure I get all possible quest related dialogue changes alongside matching my class to that expansions featured job (though that depends on my friends needs, haha)
If anyone has a site that lists all of the quests I should hit along the way it'd be a huge help for me to plan out how i'm going to do this. (Off hand I know I need to level DRG (which is a given anyways), and somehow do the Final Coils, but there's possibly quite a few I'm unaware of)
When will I be allowed to start earning experience questing again? All of this story stuff is interesting, Leviathan was neat, but now I'm getting ready to go try to talk to Ramuh or something and it's been 4+ hours of "go here talk" for like 4k experience when my Next-to is 1.2 million. Frustrating is putting it mildly.

The post-launch quests and dungeons are designed as end-game content, and as such reward lousy XP. You're not going to be getting real XP until you actually start HW.
Edit: Though nothing's stopping you from getting xp from various duty roulettes, so you can still do those if your thirsty for those sweet level ups.
speaking as someone who played AST for 4 years the novelty of the old card system is something that is intellectually stimulating as you learn the job and for a while after but even just two years in it's like, it's not something that you're devoting thought to. you're just optimizing. you've been playing the class for two years of your life. seven hundred and twelve days.
i think the discussion kinda fixates on like, "it's the CURRENT way or it's the OLD way and you have to TAKE A STAND" and like, no, kind of neither of them are amazing and another pass would not be remiss.
i would hope that internally they consider tying the class quests to the cards so much to be Kind Of A Fuckup because it locks them into having 6 cards even if they don't have a system that should use six cards

Okay yeah I was wondering if it was something like that ("the heck, was this max-level story content?").
yeah you'll run into that again the post-launch main story content in each of the expansions as well, basically from the first time you see the credits each expansion up until the title drop of the next expansion.
Oh god I have literally 50 quests to do still before Heavensward /cry
The post ARR story segments, on their own, are not super compelling compared to other stories in the game. However they set up a lot of what happens in the later expansions and they act as a force multiplier for your enjoyment of those later, much better stories.
Try not to succumb to the urge to blitz through them. If you need a break, take a break, try some other jobs.
Yeah, you need to have DRG up through the level 50 quests for Heavensward, but I can't recall when Coils counts.
Late Heavensward (like, last zone late). It gives some lore background. In ... I think 3.3 or 3.4, the Coils play into things a bit more because you start interacting with a character that you haven't seen since the first cutscene or close to it.
I hit level 60 with a job long before I finished the post ARR stuff because I kept doing roulettes. I then got most of the way through the 50s on another job because of the same thing. Being level 60 at the start of Heavensward is ok because the mobs I ran past to get to quests ignore me. But it was frustrating because the quests that gave me gear were still only giving me gear for a level 50 job.
Doing Bozja stuff now is sure a lot more pleasant than it was when it first came out. Veteran players running around with super-amped characters with all the buffs and a good Essence is making content a lot easier to stomach. I can't imagine ever wanting to the Savage version of that one raid, but everything else now feels OK enough for me to just do with PUGs.

I need to get off my butt and wrap up the MSQ so I can poke my head in there.
And Eureka is the original Diadem-like area for Stormblood /s

Bozja is a special zone you unlock after having done the Ivalice raid series in Stormblood, reaching level 80 and clearing a few introductory quests. In it you can start your quest for a special Relic weapon and you get to fight in pretty rough FATEs and boss-fights. Eventually you'll unlock more quest lines for more challenging raids in which you can heavily tweak your stats and skills to try and beat weird-ass bosses. Besides the relic weapon you can also get resources for more armor sets, a bunch of cosmetics (one of the most common ones is the checkered umbrella), mounts, minions, orchestrion scrolls and titles.
I have more questions! As a story-casual, there's so much of this game I haven't even seen.
Is Diadem in Stormblood different from the Diadem that is part of the Ishgard Restoration project? I've been to the Ishgard Diadem to gather resources and level my DoL jobs, but I haven't seen any FATEs or other content there. Just a few mobs to blow up with my Aether Bazooka.
What are Orchestration Rolls even for? I've been collecting them. I always roll on them when I complete content. But I legitimately have no idea what they are. I assume with a name like "orchestration" that it has to do with music. But I really don't even know.
With WoW continuing to downward spiral, I might actually make XIV my full-time main game when Endwalker hits. So in that regard, I have a lot to learn about this game. I've never been in the Golden Saucer, except to run in an drop off a quest maguffin for one of the Hildabrand quests. But other than that I haven't explored it, or done anything with it.
It's kinda crazy how little I actually know about this game. I just play story and level jobs in duty roulettes / PotD. That's as deep as I've ever gone with this game.

Orchestrion rolls - you can play them at the Orchestrion in your inn room, or place one in private property to play there.
The previous diadem doesn't exist anymore. It was ended, and later wholly replaced with the ishgard restoration version.
Orchestron rolls are used in conjunction with the orchestron housing item, as a way to play music from other parts of the game in your house/apartment. To use the music you need to craft/buy the item, then place it in your lodging. There are also achievements linked to their collection that often result in other orchestron rolls as rewards.

If I remember correctly, you had to find or win the worn-out version of the roll, then you had to find a goldsmith (I think) of high enough level to remake it to a playable version?

Blank orchestrion scroll from CRP, ink from ALC. I have piles of worn out sheets on my retainers waiting for new housing to become available. I'm sure other items will be worth more, but I think it's neat to be able to make them myself.

You use the item to acquire the music, right?
Yes. As noted worn rolls have to be restored by a crafter first, but they've mostly stopped doing those.

As far as the Golden Saucer goes, its quite easy to earn some of the local currency MGP by doing the weekly Challenge Log things. Most just want you to play a few minigames. I usually always start or end my sessions with some time trying to win some monies.
