If I'm on the cusp of a world tier change, and I have a quest to turn in, should I wait until I go up the tier for a chance at better rewards, or would the quest complete at the prior tier's reward level?

I think you are locked into the rewards from when you started the quest.
If it's a fight with regular mooks, I feel like it barely is just getting started by the time it finishes. If it's a "boss" fight, I mostly just get annoyed at how absurdly bullet-spongy the boss is. Shoot a bunch, burn your powers, hit cover, repeat. Maybe. Because the fight might already be over.

I felt that in the beginning. Nearing Level 20 and WT10 and this isn't close to my experience. The fights are little more than arenas (which the game recognizes as many of the areas are called arenas) and remind me of VERMINTIDE: spawn a bunch of enemies and try to survive. I also feel like this is on the Borderlands side of "shooter" than Halo or Gears.

I mean the demo was very much the first part of the game and it was easy compared to like literally the next area you go to. But if you don't like the game then there's no reason to come back to it. Thanks for trying it, the rest of us can enjoy it without you.

So how does scaling in multiplayer work? If you're level 30 and join someone who is level 10 do you just shred everything?

Okay, so I'll have to grind up the tier, then start the quests if I'm close again.

Did the services go down again? I just got booted in the middle of a quest.

Welp it's about dinner time anyway so I'll check back in later.

Though I did find some mods that inflict bleed and then when I kill something with bleed on it it refills part of my current mag...which that combined with twisted rounds is just real good.

One of the issues I have with the game tho is the lack of mantling for like drops. So if you launch yourself into a sniper roost, often the only way out is loaded with guys since you can’t just like jump over high drops. So often you’re at the mercy of waiting for your abilities to recharge once you do this. It’s immensely satisfying to paste a sniper, but sometimes if you do it too early you’re trapped behind enemy lines without your main teleport power so it can be tricky. Not impossible, it’s just there’s often very little time to bask in the splat and I often have to undo all my swagger with a RUN AWAY

At this point as soon as I die like twice I just turn the world tier difficulty down, I figure any gear I miss out on doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things when I’m still leveling up

This is exactly what I do. I'll worry about pushing WT and gear when I'm in the end game. I try things at my max WT, but if it's just becoming frustrating I go down a tier.

Hey I see you're almost at a new world tier.

Here's a boss fight with attack telegraphs you've never seen before that are shaky at best because it's an always online game.

It's all basically one hit kill.

    Lol you died.

Every death takes about 15 minutes worth of world tier xp away from you.

The thing is though you just have to internalise that the world tier doesn’t matter, switch difficulties when you die. I do, it’s fine! You don’t really lose out on that great a helping of loot from going down one or two tiers for like one boss, and especially in a game like this where you’re heading towards an endgame that will likely make all loot you get on the way irrelevant

Like psychologically it has more of an impact than it actually does practically. Losing tier progress is basically just the games difficulty auto adjusting. Like you’re not supposed to care about it in and of itself. It doesn’t really mean anything in the grand scheme of things. That 15 minutes worth of world tier doesn’t matter because even if you leveled up if you’re dying that often you’d just start dying more at higher tiers

I definitely understand the frustration, but it’s just like an artificial sense of losing progress, you aren’t actually losing out on anything really

Anyway just got to a really great sequence and boss fight that felt satisfying and not difficult but more just an epic use of the games systems finally

It’s when you arrive to the forest place after trench town
and meet the native alien and have that battle with the dudes lieutenant, he was a turret guy for me and they are so much more fun to fight.

Actually kind of getting interested in the story now after that, I hope it’s a long game, normally I like short games but I kind of feel this will work well if it’s a lot of different places and environments. If it’s short I feel like the kind of average environment design and visuals will be a let down, but if there’s a lot of variety and it’s long I’ll be more forgiving

That's exactly how I view it. Losing WT XP is the game telling you that you're either not geared enough, or just barely geared enough, for the WT you're fighting at and you should either accept you're balancing on a knife edge or drop a tier until your gear improves. You replace gear so fast during the level process it just doesn't matter.

Weird I leveled up but no class point, do they only appear when you leave a combat area or something? Or do you get them some other way? Or like don’t get them on certain levels maybe?

Also I love using the devastators hover before you use the leap attack to avoid boss attacks

Also I cannot stress enough that farming the spider is a good idea. It drops a lot of titanium so any gear you get can be easily leveled/upgraded as you do it and its patterns are fairly predictable

The class tree seems super long for only 20 points? You basically have to go one way only to get to the end I imagine. Kind of a bummer as my two main skills are split on the class tree

Super annoyed by these connection issues. Not sure why there’s no offline option but I imagine they’ll fix their servers in time. Just unlocked crafting and have to admit I’m impressed. It gives plenty of options without being confusing or convoluted.

I'm gonna stay away from this game for a few days. The connection issues aren't great on an individual basis, but trying to play it in a full group is something else. We couldn't get through one mission without someone being disconnected. And if that turned out to be the host, then the lobby was usually hosed.

Shittiest thing is when you YOLO up to a sniper, take them out, and then discover you can't actually just jump back down from that ledge due to invisible walls, there's a winding route that's the actual path up to that ledge, and there are a dozen angry dudes on it.

A big issue I have with the game is the invisible walls, they’re really pronounced and it’s hard to tell what you can jump off and what you can’t. The minimap not having the level outline makes this even worse cos you can’t even like glance at that to see

I also hate that the region map doesn’t show exactly where you are, just which section you’re in. It’s like, why. It makes it so confusing to navigate because the quest marker is also bewildering sometimes and not helpful. Sometimes it also doesn’t update from the last quest and I end up going the wrong way
