And all that I want is to remake it large enough so that my dolls can stand on it for display.
I wonder how hard it would be to use vinyl ceiling tile like this to serve as the "floors":
https://www.udecor.com/Diamond-Plate-Ceiling-Tile-Black.html
I found that after looking for the diamond plate pattern at a smaller scale.Whatever I use has to look correct for both top and bottom, and a ceiling tile won't do that without modification. And two tiles back to back would be too thick I suspect. I wonder if there is a place you can actually buy 1/3 scale diamond plate that's actually metal? I'd have to buy a few of these ceiling tiles to see how easy they would be to modify.
Edit: Ooh this one is cheaper, and it's metal instead of vinyl. The sample tiles might even already be cut to the right size.

in circular saw news, I get to figure out how to make a felt oil seal!
Also I've mostly only seen soldering in jewelry, so it could be strong enough? This sculpture guy may be something more in line with what you want:
Soldering should be fine, if you’re using structural supports too (arches underneath and the like). The big thing to remember is that the joins need to be supernaturally clean, for good flow. A good flux will do that, though on the scale you’re working with, I’d guess that flux infused solder wire is your best bet.

I ordered new caps (the actual brushes are fine) and they are not recessed. Does that matter at all?
Wanted to make one of the Liberator bots from Fallout 76 and then weather it a bunch and open up the top of it and make it into a planter because hey why not?
Printed in red filament because I was too lazy to switch to another color
Used some leftover house paint to give it a fun blue color and then went at it with little bits of black enamel paint and a paintbrush in some stabbing motions
Found some yellowish orangeish color that looked like it would work for rust appearing bits and then put some lines in white where I wanted to have scratches and gouges
Went over the white bits with a silver paint pen to make it look like the bot had been scraped down to the metal in some spots
Next I've gotta paint and weather the inner working bits of the legs and then stick them in place and it's ready for leafy friends!
Anyway! Couldn't find a pommel I liked so I mixed some files together and made one!
Excited to see how well this all comes together
Maybe we should table this conversation.

On cnc stuff, I have a sort of commercial job which is nice since I have a bunch of stupid projects planned, and also I'm not great at selling things.
Waiting on parts for the dnd display case thing, and also I have a buddy making me a jig so keycaps might be easier.
I'm watching needle tatting videos and it looks pretty easy and I am finding myself getting itchy.

Ebay seems like a good bet I think
This was my first time really trying to make something look old and best up via paints and such so I know it's not perfect by any means but I enjoyed doing it! Learned some stuff and am eager to take that knowledge into my next project

Etsy also has a listing

Yeah, turns out slabs was the word I needed but never searched!
I had a few ideas for stone projects. I'd like to model up some pendants or something, but all my ideas feel uninspired. I'll likely keep it in the back of my mind and come to it later.
If I didn't know better I'd honestly think that was made of scrap metal. Good job!
A piece of advice, something to keep in mind when you feel like this: if you think it’s cool, someone else will too. People will use things that fit their aesthetic senses, so there’s a good chance what you’re making will fill that need.
Going to also try an afterthought heel.
If this goes well I will be very very very excited.
With some more very in there

I think right now its a...what the heck do I even do?
I wanted to buy some synthetic opal and make some rings or something like that as a semi simple project. I'd like to make pendants, but I'm not great at the drawing stuff and I don't want to steal some line art or something. Maybe I should do like Celtic knots or something?
Other stone ideas so far:
Eye of Agamotto (from Dr. Strange)
Making a table vault from Wrymwood gaming (more likely make a stone bottom with a wood top).
Maybe a Destiny Hunter knife?
It'd be super dumb but I kinda want to do a pikachu or some other pokemon out of stone. (Dumb from a practical standpoint. I'd be so hard/time consuming to do)
Rubies from Zelda
Get some Lapis Lazuli and carve the stone for the mirror Lapis was trapped in Steven Universe (also make the mirror)
Witcher pendant maybe?
A feather made out of stone would be kinda interesting.
Really worried stone is going to be not worth it though. Edit: More just time it takes. Also worried its going to be more fragile than I expect/hope? Wood/metal/whatever has been pretty uniform. Worried stone/gems would be more fragile in the middle of a piece.
I want to do some neat stuff with like labradorite or tigers eye.
Then just start with something that looks nice, that isn’t necessarily “a thing from a thing” if for no other reason than to practice with the medium. And if the stone shatters during that practice, well, inlays come from somewhere or you might happen to get a lucky break that looks good on its own with some polish and a pendant frame.
Good point.
Fortunately I have a bunch of stuff between now and when I can reliably do projects for fun on the cnc, so I can at least spend that time trying to figure out what I would want to make.
I have a project idea for sometime down the road so I ordered a little neopixel LED ring too
I still need to get it open and try some basic stuff with it.
I wanna come up with a cool more permanent project for it too. Maybe get some of those rgb leds too and a little display and make some mood light type thing. Actually can an arduino do time? Maybe a cool custom clock mood light combo?
So far I've already got an LED to light up and the led on the board to blink faster.
Hooray!
fortunately this one works so I won't have to screw around with wiring
I realize this isn't quite the same thing you were thinking of doing, but if you scroll down past all the pretty pictures, he has a fairly informative bit about what stones he is willing to use, and their durabilities, that might be useful here.

My spray can exploded all over my hands
Got the crossguard thing printed and sprayed in my other color though!
Found some metallic spraypaint colors called "dark steel" and "soft iron" and I'm curious to see how they turn out when they actually both work!
Also found a way to friction weld my print bits together, which is fun
I've done four pairs now off top down socks. Two with a traditional heel flap and two with a strong style heel.
So I decided to challenge myself and start a pair of toe up socks. With no pattern, only a vague idea of the stitch counts that I've figured out roughly fit me.
Add in a simple cable every four rounds. And an afterthought heel, another new thing.
I've got a bit more to go on the leg of the first sock, but I've been taking lots of notes on what I've been doing.
But this afterthought heel business is seriously fucking magic.
I'm excited to see what else I can do with this.
Once o finish this first sock and start on the second one.

Hah! I've seen those before and I do like them. I think I could make one to match the poster thing I made a while back, and we do need a new clock in that room....
