It is impossible to overstate just how huge DMX was from 98-00. A total force of nature.

As a person he was very flawed but he was dealt a SHITTY fucking hand from birth.

Everyone including me remembers how hard Where The Hood At? bangs, but then I actually sat down some time back and actually paid attention to, you know, the rhymes he spitting, and god damn. Song kinda sucks a lot!

50 is a real young age to die at and it sucks that he can't have another 30 or so years to be better with.
In his downtime, he'd sometimes post up in front of the hotel, sipping out of a Big Gulp. He'd wait for white people to approach the hotel entrance, and then he would bark at them until they scurried inside. Then he'd laugh, sip his Big Gulp, and go back to hanging out.
It was absolutely delightful, it cracked me up every fucking time it happened, and they were the best days I ever had at that job.
All of pop culture was homophobic then.
I was going to say he should have been in more movies, but I went to IMDB and he's in a bunch of movies that have the same poster as Romeo Must Die and Cradle 2 the Grave that I should check out.

Also aside from the absolute bangers he made and that one video of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" my favorite bit about DMX is the 2008 XXL interview where he declares he isn't aware of presidental candidate Barack Obama but he's for sure that "Ain't no ****'s name". It tickles me to this day
