I was going to say that too, but then I remember the use of crib to mean 'dwelling'. Although I don't think that is what The Johns were going for three decade ago.

Well, it does go on to say "Is trying to burn the playhouse down". So I interpreted it as the traditional meaning.
I thought "playhouse" referred to a place where plays were performed. Since cribs weren't involved, I was just thinking of things in a town.
That's a very good point I'd not thought of. Though looking again:
Throw the crib door wide
Let the people crawl inside
What with the crawling, I'm still thinking they meant baby crib.
I googled and apparently there are cribs out there with doors. But they're usually accessibility oriented for parents (or professional childcare settings) that can't bend down and pick a kid up out of a standard crib.
I think this is probably more than this line of this song has ever been analyzed. I feel like wherever he is, tube's off-topic sense is tingling.
I can't even fathom what actual ailment this might be inspired by.

There are pages of discussion about whether Triangle Man is about the Trinity. There's no such thing as overanalyzing a TMBG song.
