I've been using my PS5 to play Psychonauts 2, Lost in Random, and the Outer Wilds DLC. This has been great, but I felt the need to play something that really showed off what it can do. Well my friends, I gotta say, Ratchet and Clank is that game. Boy oh boy does that game have impressive graphics. Woweee.
There's also so many little things... like just how many shells get left on the ground after a fight. Shit's hilarious when you look down after using the blaster and it's just COVERED in those little green shells just rolling all over.

Capcom's PRAGMATA being delayed to 2023, was originally scheduled for 2022
Capcom thinks they’re making a “we’re delaying” message, but I didn’t know this game existed and still don’t know what it’s about, so this is basically an announce/teaser trailer to me.
Halo Infinite MP is very fun but I need to be able to select game type because I loathe CTF.

Has anyone heard of the Sony PS5 emails going out yet? The ones where they had you sign up with your PSN account and they'd randomly select people? It said they'd be doing them in November but I haven't heard anything about it since I signed up.

I've seen a lot of people say they want to be able to pick game modes, and while I agree in theory, in practice all that happens is that deathmatch or the equivalent becomes the only populated game mode.

I'd been playing a lot of PS4 stuff on mine, until recently Miles Morales was the only PS5 game I'd paid for and that was pretty nice. Grabbed Returnal on special a few weeks ago after they added the suspend feature and that is really impressive, and then saw some early Black Friday stuff starting so picked up Ratchet and Clank and Sackboy's Big Adventure on the weekend - yet to load these up.
Deathloop is down to like $39AUD in a couple of days, and I'm tempted to pick up Demons' Souls cheap too, but then think I should probably just try Bloodborne first since that's part of the PS+ Collection, to see if I want to keep my pre-order for Elden Ring or not.

Maybe we should force everyone to play game modes they aren't interested in, in order to... ???

On the other hand, sometimes I get in a game with people who are playing Slayer when it's CTF, or are used to playing objective modes in a Slayer game and get completely dominated as a result
Game Pass Ultimate is $25 for 3 months at the Target Black Friday online deals. This is much better than the standard price, if you're unfamiliar.

I don't play it anymore cause the lead devs are shitbags but Mechwarrior Online's system for this is pretty good imo
When the match starts you would get a screen with 4 maps and 2 game modes to pick from. Everybody would vote and the map and game mode with the most votes is what you'd play. BUT if the thing you voted for didn't win, the next time you vote your vote would have a 2x multiplier. And 3x if they didn't that time, and so on and so on. The map multiplier and game mode multiplier were separate as well. You could also not vote if you didn't have a preference and keep your multiplier.
So even if a game mode or map you like isn't very popular, eventually you'd have a big enough vote bonus to get it picked anyway.
MWO also had fairly sever penalties for dropping out of the match though, like you mech being locked until that game ended and if you did it more than like once per half hour you'd have to wait 5 minutes to play at all, and that number could go all the way up to like a half hour if someone was really being a shit (and it stacked with the team kill penalty).
The Xbox Cloud Gaming is pretty ok, I've gotta say. I launched the Dragon Ball Z fighter and Forza 5 last night to see how it'd handle games where you need responsive controls and I was pretty impressed. I don't think you'll be winning any Dragon Ball tournaments with it and Forza struggled a little to keep the video up but the input lag was really respectable and the games totally playable. This is the closest I've felt to the "Netflix of games" analogy being correct, being able to drop into any game on the list with a cloud icon in under a minute feels like extreme magic.
Tech stuff: my Xbox Series X is connected over WiFi on a Fios connection so I can't speak to the quality of the experience with any other box or connection type but if you have an Xbox you should at least check it out, it's very impressive.
Yeah, right now the daily is repeatable with diminishing returns after the first 7 matches.
what's real cool about halo is it takes 10 minutes and using the edge browser on the Xbox to report someone for having white supremacist stuff in their spartan id.
SCOOP: Sony is planning a new subscription service, code-named Spartacus, to take on Xbox Game Pass. It's being pitched as a three-tier service that will merge PlayStation Now with PlayStation Plus. Highest tier could include PS1/PS2/PSP games
This new service, expected in the spring, will likely retain the "PlayStation Plus" branding. Don't expect Sony to include its big new games day one like Game Pass does, but the expectation is a stronger offering than PlayStation Now
Gamepass as it currently stands kicks the absolute shit out of what Sony is even hypothetically describing
I've tried PlayStation Now twice, years apart, with the best-available personal internet in two different states, and it was never able to maintain a playable connection for more than 30 consecutive seconds
So I can pay 25-a-month for a choppy stream of Jak & Daxter or whatever? Cool, great, sick deal dudes

Call me crazy but I don't believe Sony will actually offer up PS1/PS2/PSP games, at a serviceable quality, on that service.
Their emulation support has been a joke at this point.
I'm honestly and truly not sure how Game Pass could be better, it's already a ridiculously good service. I don't know if y'all have tried the cloud gaming on console they just added but if you've got decent Internet you should, it feels like magic.

They could violate their contract with Sony and let me play Deathloop on Game Pass, to start

I have an Xbox One and got the Game Pass Ultimate deal. I generally use it for indie games, but if I use it to play something fancy, like Forza, is it still going to be Xbox One level visuals? It feels like it must be, because they wouldn't want to disencentivize purchasing the new console, but presumably it wouldn't need to be, right? Theoretically, you could be streaming your inputs over to an Xbox Series X-like system and they stream the visuals and audio back and you could kind of be playing on whatever, right?

For Xcloud, they've recently moved the host hardware to Series X, but iirc they're running as Series S profiles for streaming. That's still going to be quite a bit better than Xbox One.

Yep, you’re trading your bandwidth for better visuals. If your internet speed supports it, it’s worth a shot… not like you have to download anything to try it out.

I think I'll definitely pick up the story mode when it launches since I do enjoy me some single player Halo.

Bottom line the first six matches you play per day net you more xp (enough for 1 level) before going back to the 50xp for the rest of the day.
My daily challenge was "Play any match" and like, I played 4 or 5 matches and it never completed. What?
