I watched a bit, Yipes discovered new tech nobody knew about because someone that didn't know any better was just mashing buttons and beat/traded with a move everyone thought was completely safe before. Amazing.
one time at a local something like this happened to me. I was doing Ed's fireball in a blockstring, which is a two part special, and is safe on block, but it has a considerable gap between the first and second part of the special
i dont think in ages of online play anyone has remotely attempted to challenge that blockstring but this guy was mashing roundhouse in the gap and getting a full crush counter punish
i literally almost fell out of my chair

finally got a chance to play this season of sfv extensively.... a couple hours... so far... so good... had a really nice winrate with honda as my rank has decayed substantially over the years
Since Tekken 7 is on sale, I figured I'd go ahead and buy it since it's been out for 5 years and those guest character dlc licenses might expire and get removed from purchase at some point. I don't play a lot of 3D fighters but figured I could mess around with it.
Initial Reactions:
Wow, there's like no Tutorial at all. Or even the ability to set up a Versus match against the CPU. This was a bit surprising for one of the biggest fighting games out there.
Had to bound the triggers on my controller to X+B and Y+A because those are very unnatural button combos to have to press.
So the Lars here is like a Swedish ninja? Okay, I guess.
I see two bears which is cool, but sadly I don't see a boxing kangaroo or velociraptor.
Based on my experience in Treasure Battle, I would get absolutely destroyed if I attempt to go online anytime soon.
The thing I tell people about Tekken is that it is an incredibly complex game... which actually makes it easier at low level lol.
There is a ton of jank and trust me most people at low levels will just be throwing out strings and frame data is just a concept. So you'll get janked out but you will also jank people out in return.
The most difficult hump for Tekken is actually intermediate play cause that's when you actually have to start figuring the jank out. And that's when it becomes the hardest fighting game.

Working my way to competitive shape on Tekken 4 as a Bob/Hworang main was one of the most painful experiences of my gaming life. But his high/low mixups and juggles in the arcade of 4 were amazing and I don't regret it and I greatly enjoyed pushing the shit in on a bunch of Jins that did nothing but LSJF spam.

Tekken 7 finished, I guess? Got all achievements (except the online tournament one, since nobody apparently plays that mode anymore so I'd have to see if someone here wanted to get it or something) and did all the Story stuff and unlocked all of the Gallery. All that's left would be continuing to grind Treasure Battle for cosmetics.
I'll probably still randomly play some from time to time, but I'm apparently quite late to realizing that Tekken 7 is very light on the single-player offering.
Thoughts:
So they just went and made Akuma part of the main story, huh? That was unexpected. No "visitor from another world" or anything either, they just have him be part of this setting with a backstory tying him to events from decades ago.
I was surprised that the majority of the new characters introduced in Tekken 7 (not counting DLC characters) were not part of the main story, though. At least a lot of them got side story content to give them some background.
The achievement for getting 10-hit combos apparently did not refer to get your combo count above 10. Instead it meant a move called a "10-hit Combo" listed deep in each character's movelist that you had to pull off instead. I feel like this could have been a little clearer.
When stepping into online battles, I figured it was only fair to play Lars. My first Ranked Match put me up against an Eddie Gordo player. I knew from cultural osmosis that I was about to have a bad time. I did have a bad time.
Despite having the ability to customize your life bar's appearance, I never actually noticed anyone I faced online doing this.
I have no idea what the hell is happening when fighting against Noctis.
Why is Noctis here instead of Soulcalibur anyways? Neegan too, I guess, since they're both weapon users.
Whenever Eliza talks, I think her voice doesn't sound quite right, then realize that my brain is confusing her with Mira from Killer Instinct.
A lot of the hairstyles in this series are ridiculous.
Wait, I'm not allowed to use the Shin Devil Kazuya or the Devil Kazumi skins? /FlipsTable
Yoshimitsu was a clockwork wooden puppet man in whatever Soulcalibur I first played with him in it, and I'd forgotten that he wasn't always a wooden puppet and instead has a different visual theme in each game he's in. This one was weird.
The game overall looks pretty nice, except one thing that was jarringly bad. When you get slammed into the ground, often the floor will break and have debris fly up, and the debris just looks awful.
Having all the movies and artwork from all the old Tekken games in the Gallery was nice.

Turns out the matches are a lot easier when your opponent refuses to abandon the jump in no matter how many times you air throw him as Akira
Same here! Hopped online after however many years and had a good time. I had a nice mix of complete newbies to help me feel good about myself and people like me who seem to practice a lot but rarely play real people.
My fighting game anxiety has definitely gone down considerably over the years, it was a pretty chill experience. Sakura's VS2 definitely helps, just fish for that and get easy wins.

A character that I know we won't see at all — there's been a lot of discussion about it — I mentioned earlier a character I would like to rewrite the music for would be Fei Long.
I do have other sources — not only Capcom, but friends of mine in the U.S., who are very close friends with the Lee family — and they have basically said that any kind of resemblance to Mr. Bruce Lee is now omitted for comedic effect, comic stuff. It needs to be honourable.
broadly speaking i wouldn't be surprised if the story mode content was meant to drop earlier but wound up having to be delayed for a variety of reasons. whenever you have some kind of disruption - as we all had, many times, over the last year, l m a o (cries) - the content that's just cinematics makes the most sense to delay. getting the voice acting done may also have been more difficult to co-ordinate for the same reasons

Apparently the developers agreed, so this summer they're adding that trailer guy as a selectable announcer voice for the game as a free DLC:
This was posted on April 1st but is supposedly a legit announcement.
I would be very interested in this stupid thing in FG devs could figure out how to make online not miserable.
Guilty Gear Strive: Another Story update on the 29th. Will introduce an all new character.

Though I hate Chun's bag, that shade of purple/fuscia does not go with that outfit.
And clever of Vega/Bison to adopt the cloak/jacket to hide the rod up his ass giving him that posture.
