Picked up Tekken 7 because it and all the dlc is dirt cheap on steam at the moment.
Any vets here have recommendations for reading/watching material on getting the basics for the game down?
There is a youtube channel called “That Blasted Salami” that has everything from basic Tekken info to in depth character breakdowns with a great production value.
Theodin should be the LotR character added to MV. Always on horseback.
And he should come with a stage: The Deeping Wall

My wife and I are doing some home reorganization and among the stuff I need to get rid of are two arcade fight sticks. One is a Mad Catz XBox 360 MvC3 edition and the other is a Qanba Q4 3in1 that I know was fully-functional on PS4 back when I was playing SFV.
If anyone is interested or knows of a good way to find these sticks a home I would appreciate suggestions. I am prepared to give them away for free and would only ask anyone that wants them to cover the shipping costs.

If you're near a local FGC scene, it's pretty easy to offer them to people running events for their station setups. At least, it was a few years ago; I haven't run in-person events since pre-covid.
So Duel is just dead as far as ASW is concerned right? Low double digit concurrent players, sporadic and anemic updates, literally no information about DLC three months on.
Feels like they put it out and moved on real quick.

I can see nexon viewing DNF as a one and done "hey go play our RPG that inspired this game" thing.

Good, maybe Team Blue can work on a next gen BB now.

Didn't 8ing do all the dev work, arcsys just published it and I assume shared their magic art secrets?

Great recommendation; took some time to watch the character archetypes and character breakdown videos.
Made things worse though because now I want to play every character instead of just thinking that a few are kinda cool.

Pretty much every character in 7 can be moderately successful in regular ranked play. Tiering doesn't really become a thing till you're reaching tourney level, but a freaking Eddy (consistently considered bottom 5 in Tekken 7) made it to top 4 at Evo this year, so anything is possible with the current meta.

Oh and one thing to note from that GG devpost that relates to what we were discussing earlier, they called out the fact that currently there's too many players consolidated to the 9/10 floors, resulting in too big a discrepancy between skill levels there. There'll be some additional floor/matchmaking changes being tested during the crossplay beta intended to alleviate this and provide a more even gameplay experience for all players

That jives with my impressions, yeah. I'm not really a tier person anyways, I get that I don't play at skill levels where tier REALLY matters anyways. I do think it's rad that Tekken balance seems real good?

Overall balance is pretty good, one of the better spots it's been in since DLC characters like Geese, Leroy, and Fahkurham started completely skewing things. Though it's still not a full rollback implementation in netcode, so you can experience the occasional hiccup or major slowdown at times, depending on your pipe's latency.

i mentioned it when they showed it at evo and i'll mention it again, it is wild to me that A.B.A scores as highly as she does on the requested character polls
i won't complain, i love it when dlc spots are devoted to characters like "weirdo stance character from the attempt to make 4 player fatal fury" instead of "it's fuckin johnny"
I'm definitely down with the more technically convoluted Guilty Gear characters making it into Strive. ABA or Zappa wouldn't make it into the game with their legacy playstyles intact, but they do give the developer a lot of room to play with when it comes to adapting those styles to the new game. Slayer isn't going to surprise anyone. You can see how they'd handle his kit and it's not terribly exciting (also Nago took a lot of his identity so I'm not sure we'd see him anyway, but I can still use him as a gameplay example).

Wait does it actually have sephiroth? That seems fairly out of place in tekken, he doesn't use punching OR kicking.

No, just a joke referencing the moment Jin sprouted a single wing in the trailer

Similar to it being Cygame's decision to not support rollback for GBVS.
I would really like to see more content for DNF, but I got what paid for.

They'll finally add the fine-gained control everyone wants by including new buttons like "left asscheek" and "right triceps."
Juggling will never be the same.
