In Sideshow's tweet he specifically mentions co-streams and Plat Chat still being a thing they'll do, I think they just don't feel good about directly working with the company itself (and while they might not say it outright, they're probably concerned about hitching their wagon directly to a property that doesn't seem to know where the fuck it's going)

The entire OWL talent ecosystem has been not-so-low-key imindanger.gif since the offseason began.
Bren and Sideshow have also been doing a lot of Valorant stuff for a while now, and just recently did some official broadcast stuff for them. They may simply have gotten a better offer. Sideshow at least was always very up front that one reason he did a lot of Valorant content was so that he wasn't stuck as only an OW caster, with what that would inevitably do to his bargaining power.
It's a big bummer but it also feels a little inevitable.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
Oh for sure, pretty much everyone except for like Super has gotta be sweating bullets. I'm just not sure how vocal about that stuff Bren and Sideshow specifically have been and didn't wanna assume.

I would be surprised if Sideshow and Bren have, or expect to have, formal employment contracts as casters/desk for Valorant given the talent ecosystem got pretty well established during the first year. I would expect a year of doing official co-streams and other content of both OWL and Valorant under the PlatChat brand with the occasional guest casting in either esport.
Rumors are that Xzi will be signing with Valiant. Diya, Xzi, Innovation (also Becky) is a very strong DPS lineup. They still don't have a tank player announced though and only Coldest on support.

Let me tell you, playing a tank in the current Experimental card is a trip because you cannot die unless you turbofeed and even then you probably won't.

This experimental card is definitely the closest to the Bumper experience that you will get with a twist where all you do as a tank is take space while not doing damage with some truly wacky shit thrown in which I think the below video is a good demonstration of.
Hunters sign Aprita. Expected and deserved. He's real good.
Packing10 (former Valiant GM) had been hired as the OWL Competitive Operations Manager. Not sure of the details of what that entails but he knows his shit and having him in the league in an official capacity is good.
Justice are teasing some OWL '22 news tomorrow so be ready for that.
On the one hand Matt's been acting like some big announcement is coming soon for the last week+
On the other hand he is god's own troll
edit: Washington Justice are teasing OWL news tomorrow now too, so yeah something's coming tomorrow. Here's hoping it's more news than just a schedule.

Reports are that Valiant are signing MYKaylee since the Xzi signing fail through. A significant downgrade overall unless Kaylee has figured out positioning and such. His aim was always fantastic but was terrible in pretty much every other aspect.

As an aside that experimental patch that went up is a good example of why I think its funny that folks think they could balance a game so much better than the devs.
Most people's suggestions always end up feeling like Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Though I thought ML7 did a good job).

The fade jump does make Moira more interesting to play.
TLDW: They're uncoupling the PVP and PVE modes. They're starting a PVP closed alpha this week for Blizzard employees and Overwatch League players. In April, they're doing a PVP closed beta. He also said they'll be doing more frequent developer updates.
It's getting pretty well slammed, I was able to sign up but lots of posts on reddit of folks failing to get in at first.

not a huge fan of the sporty, athletic-wear type of look they're giving almost everyone (or the rounded, simplified art direction in general) but at least it works well enough for zenyatta and genji
It's very funny that the closed beta is 2 full years after Echo. Whoops
Its also very funny that after two years of working the second try they still couldnt figure out how to make overwatch pve compelling and are just gonna kick the pvp changes out the door

I'm not sure you can assume too much about the PVE side of things. They're kicking the beta out now because OWL players need to start getting playtime in OW2 for the upcoming season, and there's only so much time they can reasonably put between them having access and the rest of the playerbase. Plus PVP benefits way more from a longer, bigger beta than PVE would
Basically it's less PVE is bad and more PVP needs to get out there ASAP
(Obv the PVE could still be bad, but this move doesn't really mean anything in that regard one way or the other)
Also they aren't just gonna drop PvE into the client all if a sudden. That's the big selling point of OW2. They're gonna ramp up a big marketing push prior to launch. PvE depends on the PvP side of things being solidified as well. It's easier to trickle in the PvP stuff and build into the final release than to just push PvE out as an unpolished mess that constantly gets screwed up by PvP balancing.

from what they've shown of the pve it looks like it'll be just fine, it's the pvp balance they've always struggled with

I firmly believe that the PVE is definitely bad or they would have been showing way more of it

Eugh, is that big round bot Bastion's redesign?
Edit: nevermind, I am dumb. Bastion's tank form is in one of the earlier pictures, so that's a new omnic character? The one making a wall in the picture with the Shimada brothers and Reinhardt.

Each team has a wall but there is only one robot. The walls get pushed slowly but mark permanent progress. The robot moves faster back and forth between the walls. If you push your wall all the way to the enemy's last point, you win. If time runs out, whoever pushed further wins.

Ah, thanks for the explanations. I haven't been following the news that closely, as you can tell.

Jjonak is leaving Seoul to take a break from pro play.
Dexerto reporting that Western homestands are back for 2022. Also that stages 1 and 3 will be region locked but stage 2 will be cross-regional. Stage 4 will not have it's own playoffs (similar to season 1 and 2).
