She's such a chunky brawler now! Downright Doomguy vibes from her.

She looks fun, I have mixed feelings about the deletion of her old kit but I can't say I really liked it enough to be that upset about it. It did feel very passive compared to this obviously being hyper aggressive.

I've been catching clips and segments of streamer videos and overall impressions, and I'm really excited that the general vibe is overwhelmingly positive. Obviously there's still a long way to go, and long-term success hinges on the devs committing to more regular updates and additions, but for now at least I'm glad that things seem to be going in a good direction and people aren't convinced that single-tank 5v5 is the death knell right out of the gate.

The replacement for Cassidy's flashbang looks baaaad.

gosh that is.. uninspired. tbh a lot of what i've been seeing with ow2 leaves me highly ambivalent. i put a lot of time into OW and love it dearly, but don't think OW2 is getting the job done from what i have witnessed so far

My main thing was she seems to farm Zen for free even moreso than OW1 but that might just be folks being unfamiliar with the maps.
Overall the balance of the game does look interesting. I agree with freedo on that I feel at high levels there will probably be a more established meta but at Master and below people might have a bit more wiggle room to play what they want.

Which is probably how the game should be.
To be fair it sounds like a lot of characters farm Zen (and Mercy) right now, it seems more like a general design problem at the moment than anything (although the nature of her kit definitely makes Sombra more annoying than others). Hopefully they can find some way to keep certain supports from feeling even more like enemy DPS fodder before the official release.
Big thing to remember with the videos coming out are that none of these matches have any actual SR matchmaking. So it's like random Blizz employees' family members in the same games as top 500 streamers and pros. Stomping and looking ridiculously OP is gonna happen pretty inevitably.
The matchup between Zen and Sombra has shifted a bit. Sombra can hack him pretty easily, and she'll do a bit more damage, but the silence part of the hack only lasts one second, and it takes a half second to leave stealth. So Zen's gonna be able to discord Sombra and do more damage to her than before, too. He can also still trance after 1 second even if he gets EMP'd, which is a big difference in the overall team fight. And EMP has gone from deleting shields (150 of Zen's HPs) to doing 40% of max health damage (so down from 150 to 80 on EMP). So there's aspects of the matchup that overall favor Sombra more, but there's also big ways in which Zen is actually less miserable vs Sombra than before, too.

I know it's day -100 but looking at the pros tier list and seeing how different some of them are is pretty cool.
IMPORTANT: There is a very limited time window coming up on Wednesday to tune in to Twitch to get beta access. It sounds like you must tune in Wednesday morning/afternoon to make the cut.
The Overwatch Team is partnering with Twitch to celebrate the launch of the Overwatch 2 PvP Beta. You can tune in to specific Overwatch 2 streams during a very limited time frame to earn beta access through the Overwatch 2 PvP Beta Twitch Drops campaign.
The limited-time campaign begins April 27th, 2022 @ 10:00AM PT and lasts until 6:00PM PT. Viewers will need to tune in to watch a select group of streamers broadcasting the Overwatch PvP Beta under the Overwatch category. You will be eligible for Twitch drops after watching any participating channel for four hours. Your watch time will accrue no matter what stream you are watching from the list below
To clarify that further, beta access is GUARANTEED if you meet the 4 hour minimum. Do whatever you gotta do to get those hours. Open tab in the background, phone running on silent, etc.
27 APR - 4+ hours watched of any of the participating channels on this blog is guaranteed beta access. Make sure your Blizzard account is connected to Twitch, and claim your drops:
Philly signed Belosrea amongst all of the beta news. Former main tank player from T1, the Contenders team affiliated with Philly. Decent player in Contenders but would be a surprise to start over Fury.
Right that's why I said "start" rather than "play". Fury will likely handle the more generally viable tanks and Belosrea would take the niche ones. Pretty much every team is gonna handle tank rotations differently I think.

Avast and ZP posted the same contract signing gif on twitter so maybe the duo is getting back together to cast.

The flashbang change is interesting. I think I like it.
It's sorta like a pulse bomb but thrown in a more direct line and with pretty generous hit detection. It's basically like if you hit someone with flash, you'll hit them with this thing.
It does a pretty good chunk of damage, enough that if you hit a DPS with it + a headshot it's a free kill. Which again makes it functionally actually quite similar to flashbang, and still gives Cassidy a lot of control over the space immediately around himself. But now there's more counterplay, heroes with escapes have more chance of saving themselves and healers and tanks might be able to save them, since it takes a moment for the explosion to go off. Without the stun effect you're gonna have less of those moments of losing an ult to his flash, or being a tank, getting briefly stunned, and eating 8 zillion damage from his team during your moment of vulnerability.
Which I think would be a problem in OW1 6v6, but in a 5v5 matchup it seems like it's fair. Ult charge is a lot slower, so it's fair that you're less likely to be deleted while using one, and you can't play solo tank if your charge or punch or flight will get canceled as soon as you try to back up, there's a lot less stuns in the game.
It's not a huge change, in some matchups it acts very similar to flashbang, but I think it's probably a good tweak for the 5v5 game.

I think in general OW2 seems to he going for a bit more consistency over crazy.
So I feel most characters in a role will have much more defined restrictions when it comes to their kit. DPS clearly having an mobility/defense and attack/tactical option for example.
On one hand it probably means the game will be "dumbed down" as far as crazy out there abilities go. But it probably also means there will be less threat of one strategy just completely dominating the game.
Basically I feel the overall power level of the game has been toned down a bit but it's still pretty high when compared to most competitive hero shooters.

As for McCree's grenade tbf it does have some tracking to it and does a decent chunk of damage so it's a bit better than I originally gave it credit for.
Though not sure if it's enough to make up for his lack of mobility.
Cassidy's grenade is going to be a huge buff to me as a gold Cass main, I no longer have any incentive to do a dumbass roll towards their team for a flash/fan kill.

You know it's gonna happen.
According to Custa (who's been able to spectate some OWL scrims), Sombra's good and has seen a fair bit of use, but isn't crazy powerful.

The pressure of knowing you have to be top-tier at every hero in your category has gotta be pretty rough.
